I have noticed that I think few days ago. Before exchanges were ranked into three different categories but most of the visitors doesn't really understand how that measurement is done. Now, obviously they'll always put Binance to number 1. Not a problem for most users but this is a problem for some other exchanges that competes with BNB. Having one category to rank most of the exchanges is already enough and it's easier for the users to understand.

Not only volume, liquidity from centralized exchanges too cannot be trusted. They implement several ways to manipulate it. They even rig APIs.
CMC did this change mostly to bring Binance in number one position. Which itself is a message that they would manipulate the data to make it look the way they want. Not going to trust CMC blindly.

agree, they implement new strategy with a goal to make Binance number one, but previous strategy was also not good, since there were some unknown exchange, with questionable quality on top spots, this with Binance on the top is closer to realistic situation, since Binance is one of most well known exchanges
however, do not like monopoly, so looking for other websites that provide these data, and currently i use coinpaprika.com, will see if this is better with them

You wrote new protects what I understood like coins. But you talk about exchanges. Exchange is never called a project in crypto.

To me exchanges are ranked by Web Traffic Factor and not liquidity. I never actually check exchanges ratings on CMC. Sometimes check pairs they have and volume That is all.

CZ will not do that because its own exchange site has become the biggest crypto exchange site. It's better to remove those crap exchange sites who have been regularly manipulating their volume.

Did you mean beware of the incoming manipulative acts from exchange sites not from CZ? We all knew shady exchange manipulative trading volume before this. With CZ new reference data, why those sites try to manipulative the new Liquidity or Trafic to get back at the top?

This is ideally the way it should be, and binance incorporation with Coinmarketcap seems to have fast forward the processes.
Hence the need to focus more on liquidity.

The marriage of cz and coinmarketcap is one that comes with worry, and monopolization of the market space, and we can only hope cz does not join the manipulative forces.

Of course binance and CZ would have made some changes but liquidity is not really the only thing that matters when it comes to coins, marketcap was always a big thing and even though it could be fake or not, it is really the biggest thing that people look at nowadays. This is like doing something ethical and still not getting the attention it deserves.

We see these things in politics a lot, you have a candidate that tells the right things and talk about the right things, whereas some other buffoon that makes no sense at all gets more votes. It is going to be like that for coinmarketcap, it doesn't have to get dethroned in the ranking world, still would be probably used as the most, but could lose users because of this feature. However it could be liked even more, I wouldn't know, I personally find this much better.

Expected one, that is why they bought coinmarket cap for such huge price tag.

But there will be always some kind of manipulation sooner or later so don't trust the stats provided by coinmarketcap blindly.

Well i am surprised to see many people criticizing this move but to be honest this is a great move and we will get rid of fake bot trading volumes and finally we will be seeing how many buyers are there for a coin so personally i support this cmc feature.

Possible, but for these days, I don't think so, seems binance has always good volume since it was launched til now that it holds the most volume trades which is obvious from what kind of service, user experience, and CS they offered.

Yes it is part of the improvement that majority of the people want. They had a survey and asked people to tell them the kind of improvement they want and I believe a lot of the people do not want to see exchange with fake volumes ranking high on the website and that is exactly why the latest update has taken care of that. It is most likely we shall see more integration and other feature very soon because CZ always make reference to this on his twitter page

Well i am surprised to see many people criticizing this move but to be honest this is a great move and we will get rid of fake bot trading volumes and finally we will be seeing how many buyers are there for a coin so personally i support this cmc feature.

Hopefully this could be good and very positive start by CZ and they will do some more good things in near future which will help many new investors and members for better way of investment we have to give them some time for this all.

Actually, CZ don't change rules but embrace it base on community opinion on twitter chat on April 22 when he asked his followers what they will like to be corrected on capital market and the took place on the 15th of this month.
With that been said, I'm happy for the change because web traffic was used to judge exchange ranking.

I wouldn't trust CZ all the time for owning that CMC. Of course he has reasons why he bought that CMC. Remember that binance is trying hard to conquer everything even help Justine Sun to takeover steemit. He also  says his intention to rollback the chain when binance was hacked.

Did you noticed that CMC is getting slow already? I'm not sure what they are doing already but I'm sure something is going on with CMC under its hood.

Good to see that fake volumes are gone but major changes were expected after Binance took over the site and i expect them to use it to promote their site.

If you are following CZ who thought about a rollback when their exchange got hacked, so ethics should not be related with him.
