I opened two 1000 BTC bars and put the BTC on 2-factor private keys.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable. I never believe them. If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins. I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion. Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice. Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

I'm wondering: Do you still get nervous on such occasions?

I'm wondering: Do you still get nervous on such occasions? Not really. Wish I could say why not, but part of it is I already handle bitcoin in a pretty paranoid manner to begin with.

Uh, unless I'm mistaken, all we're looking at is some unfunded bearer bars receiving funds from their owners?

Uh, unless I'm mistaken, all we're looking at is some unfunded bearer bars receiving funds from their owners? If Casascius did make buyer-funded bearer bars, he certainly did not include the address or mention it in his public list of addresses. When I bought my 0-BTC Bearer bars, all I got was shiny gold stickers (no public/private address) to use as a "hologram". All 3 addresses start with '1G' and were funded with 5 BTC each at exactly 2015-03-07 05:58:48. I am assuming he sold to someone either locally or to someone who made the trip.

So Mike is still minting coins? Is it just for private parties at bulk volumes?
It's good news, just surprised to hear it.

Okay, but did you see the address they were funded from? https://blockchain.info/address/1otohotohMoQoxHuxLBveQiZcV3Pji3TcHere's another transaction using the 1otohotoh address as an input: https://blockchain.info/tx/98cc49d472e38abca3a2fa6c19140d0abb63531c9bd4f7fa78576db002ef2bffDo you really think that's Casascius funding those addresses?

Naypalm,
I have 1 BTC on a physical Casascius entacted. I look on your site and it shows active but when I go to blockchain.info it's invalid. Is it still a valid BTC?
