Hi all, I brought 1 physical bitcoin years ago, its the error one 2011 but could never get the name change to work on here to change it from the old owner. any pointers how I can do it ? all I get is entered wrong bitcoin value when I have entered the correct value.
I obviously dont want to peal it and distroy it just to get the 1 bit off of it.

Are you sure the analyzer is up to date? Last opened coin really 2017-05-24?? With forks and BTC passing 10k nobody opened a single coin?

That does seem a bit off. I'll look into it this weekend and see if something is stuck. I know Silver and Gold prices are stuck until I can drive out and turn on a switch at my remote site.

Yeah it was broke, probably for awhile. I've fixed the issue, however I'll have to figure out a way to determine the opened dates for all coins that have an opened date of today.

In other news. The total worth of all Casascius coins (Active/Opened) is over 1 billion dollars.

Nice! Thanks for updating the database.
So since end of May 2017 2,9% of all Casascius coins have been opened and 3,2% of BTC value of all Casascius coins.

I suggest to add a link to the overview of coin openings https://casascius.uberbills.com/?opendate=2017 i think most don't know this function yet.
One more suggestion: percentage column on coins active/open, would be great.

I rewrote the backend scripts and chose another block explorer to use with the Casascius Analyzer. This should provide more accurate opened dates than in the past. Scans will take longer for a couple of days, then I'll switch to only checking active coins.

I will be making the API source change to other analyzers soon. Once again dropping BlockExplorer.com as my source

Interesting fact

Between February 7th thru February 24th 2014, there were 34 coins opened. This was the time period when Mt Gox was starting to investigate their vanishing bitcoins to when they halted trading. 117.5 BTC was redeemed for roughly $74,000 USD. Today that is worth over 1.2 million dollars.
