I'm a noob looking to throw a couple hundred at a single coin...

So which coin should it be oh great bitcointalk community?

This week I've played around with some coins, made some money lost some money right now I'm at net -1.03%, which isn't too bad (Maza coin was a bad idea).

I like coins that do something and have a community behind them like vert and doge BUT also like the thrill of coins like max coin (42 coin is a scam).

I hear BTC has outperformed any other coin. That would be my choice.

Buy some MINT or some ECC and withdraw to your wallet you will get paid interest for holding the coins a certain length of time. Like if you bought 1 million mint you will get like 10000 extra mint after 20 days, and it will keep compounding the balance if you don't move it. MINT is 20% interest the first year. So if you buy 1 million mint after one year of not moving you should have 1.2 million MINT in your wallet. Hopefully the price will be even higher than you bought in also.

Buy some bitcoin right now, prices have dropped the last days so you could make a good deal when they're going up again.
If it doesn't you can at least buy useful stuff/services with them.

if you're looking for an investment look toward pos coins (mint as was said earlier) phs, hbn, tek seems to be all good pos coins.

other coins feels eithers like big scams or pump and dump, i don' t know what to think about them

BTC is always solid but you might want to wait for it to bottom out.

A little riskier would be Huntercoin

Best advice: Do your own research.

Unless you're looking to make high-risk trades, stay away from the majority of ALL coins.

Find a coin with a purpose and a good community supporting and developing it.

Personal recommendation: SexCoin (SXC) - I only own like $10 worth, but it's a coin with a purpose and a strong community behind it. I work in the adult entertainment industry and I believe there is a need for it.

Take a look at coins like Goldcoin (GLD) that have the strength to rise up during market weakness.

Lot's of great news coming out of this coin lately, including a new java client scheduled for a Spring release.
