In a document obtain by The Intercept thru Freedom of Information Act reveals that a so called Pentagon War games aptly called, JLASS (2018 Joint Land, Air and Sea Strategic Special Program), show that Bitcoin would play a major role.

Quote
In early 2025, a cadre of these disaffected Zoomers launch a protest movement. Beginning in “parks, rallies, protests, and coffee shops” — first in Seattle; then New York City; Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; and Austin — a group known as Zbellion begins a “global cyber campaign to expose injustice and corruption and to support causes it deems beneficial.”

During face-to-face recruitment, would-be members of Zbellion are given instructions for going to sites on the dark web that allow them to access sophisticated malware to siphon funds from corporations, financial institutions, and nonprofits that support “the establishment.” The gains are then converted to Bitcoin and distributed to “worthy recipients” including fellow Zbellion members who claim financial need. Zbellion leadership, says the scenario, assures its members that their Robin Hood-esque wealth redistribution is not only untraceable by law enforcement but “ultimately justifiable,” as targets are selected based on “secure polling” of “network delegates.” Although its origins are American, by the latter 2020s, Zbellion activities are also occurring across Europe and cities throughout Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including Nairobi, Kenya; Hanoi, Vietnam; and Amman, Jordan.

JLASS: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6936805-JLASS-Document.html

We don't know if the obtain document is legit or not. But it just laid out another picture of BTC, to be used to fight government. Or perhaps there are narratives from Pentagon to paint bitcoin a tool for anarchy itself.

It is also interesting to read The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto

Lmao this is so dumb, sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie. Clearly written by a person who has zero knowledge about hacking.

Leftists hate Bitcoin, they go nuts when they discover that some people get rich from investing in Bitcoin in the early days. They also hate the idea of private citizens controlling their own money, they want the revolutionaries to be in charge of everything.

It's no coincidence that you won't find many leftists on this forum, and that a lot of people here are libertarians and conservatives - Bitcoin is a radical form of capitalism.

So, again, the person who wrote this scenario didn't do their homework. I have a feeling that this leak is fake, cause I don't think the US military is that dumb.

"Leftist" here, I don't know where you get your views, i don't hate bitcoin or rich people. But i agree that this didn't seem at all like a leftist scenario and far from any possible scenario. It was more like the Robin Hood story put on the cheap sci-fi form. I wish i knew who write these scenarios, because it sounds like a teenager wrote this one.

We don't know how trusted The Intercept is, to be honest, this is the first time I have heard about this website. But regarding the scenario, we don't have to wait till 2025 or something. Bitcoin is decentralised and obviously it can be used by anyone, including criminals. We all know that bitcoin removes inflation, negating the impact of so called wealth inequality. And I do agree, the writer didn't know how bitcoin really works.

This must really be fake. The story is that the material is leaked or taken illegally from a government agency but that can just be a lie because whoever masterminded this is aware that many people may look at leaked material or document to be exciting to get into. Certainly, this is not another Julian Paul Assange and can therefore just be another crap not worthy even to mention much to explore. Just another garbage.

Another Bitcoin connected scenarios,no wonder how many times this kind of linking will happen in our time being .

But of course if this is possible then we are in the right position in being Crypto users, another advantage in our part.

But i doubt that this is legit, and the site is just new to our eyes meaning this is just a advertising or popularization .

Pretty funny but, hey, anyone is free to write anything and publish it on the internet.

"Zbellion", cool name Grin I wonder if the boomers and the millennials had a name for their "rebellions" too?

Just look at how some people are using the ongoing protest to promote bitcoin.

dumb.
"Leftists" today somehow embraced capitalism. You see them buying and using products brought by capitalism  Grin
I definitely agree with revolutionaries wanting to be in charge. From where I am from, they extort money from citizens in the form of "revolutionary taxes". Anyone who doesn't remit will be punished.

So this is from the future? Sounds like a script from a movie though, honestly.

We all know all the talks about what Bitcoin could do during the current financial situations and the different approaches to how we don't want to be part of the "centralized" part. But overall, we need that part right now, and as we continue to increase in the users of Bitcoin, maybe then we could deviate completely.

What I can be confident right now is that Bitcoin would play a significant role, and it would continue in the future. Let's see.

You don't have to access the darkweb,in order to get some malwares,keyloggers,rats,trojans...
Money from hacked bank accounts and stolen credit cards have been already laundered via buying cryptocurrencies or gift cards.Sad but true.
I guess that the "Bitcoin is being used to fund terrorists and criminals" type of FUD mantra has been changed to "Bitcoin is being used to fund anarchists and protesters". Grin
Shitting all over Bitcoin across the mainstream media will never stop. Angry

Correct, that is why other members here also so that this is somehow scripted,

So this is from the future? Sounds like a script from a movie though, honestly.

Most of the time, they create stories about darkweb or deepweb, perhaps, there are some points that is true, but they just use it to increase the magnitude of their story. You can even create a malware just using python or another programming language.

This is another great story to decrease the reputation of bitcoin especially to those who are just started to be curious about it. But time passes, bitcoin network security is improving, these theories/stories about bitcoin "a great tool" for fraud will be forgotten as long as we cope up with updates and we keep ourselves secured with knowledge.

Majority of the posts are negative, and those that are not negative are very noncommittal, and the posts that praise Bitcoin are a tiny minority.

Bitcoin was always close to libertarian ideology, I'd be seriously surprised if Satoshi wasn't a libertarian of some kind. Bitcoin is fundamentally about resisting any sort of authority, and marxism is about the total rule of communist authority, so they are naturally at odds.

We don't know if the obtain document is legit or not.

We can be fairly sure. The Intercept is legitimate, and they obtained it from the Pentagon in a FOIA request.

These are some excessive generalizations. Capitalism is defined by private property. Opposing money -- such as bitcoins -- is not necessitated by anti-capitalist philosophy. Anarchists are also generally acknowledged to be part of the left.

It's not 2010 anymore. The days where Bitcoin users were mostly conservatives and right-wing libertarians are long gone.

Yeah, these days we have a lot of people who are in only for profits, but if you go to the politics and society board, most voices there are right wing. And in /r/Bitcoin when there's a political discussion, most opinions are be libertarian and some are even alt-right.

...

Here's an interesting use-case for crypto in the current protests in the US: activists mine Monero and use it to bail out of jail arrested protestors.

Ah, from reddit, i don't follow ay political channels in there at all so i wouldn't know.

My experience is mostly same as with everyone. And that is the fact that most People just don't understand Bitcoin regardless of their political background (for example they dislike bitcoin and praise blockchain). So their opinions are pretty much meaningless to me.

But that was just one question about the remark, if you want, let's continue this on the "Politics & Society" as that's a proper section for this.

Just a hint for the future, you have to limit your search to subreddit like this
https://wr.reddit.com/r/socialism/search?q=bitcoin&restrict_sr=on

Otherwise it will just search all the reddit.

I am not that "not Fox/CNN/CNBC/Telegram, not real!" guy, but The Intercept is one newsletter I haven't heard of and that doesn't inspire me trust at all. Tried to search both the name of the document and parts of it on DuckDuckGo and can't find much about it at all.

Unless the Pentagon (or some trustworthy source) comes with a statement, I'm going to be very skeptical about the legitimacy of this doc. Its plot sounds very similar to the plot of the TV show Salvation. I understand the darknet could have a very well hidden community of these kind of people, but I highly doubt this is a realistic scenario.

I guess we have amazing and insane hackers active as we speak who are targetting the large corporations, but honestly and realistically.. from hacking a corporation to stealing their bank account balances and magically transferring them into BTC is a long way.

Of course, a paper from 2018 has been found by a shady website just now, exactly when protests are happening in the US.
I mean, how f* convenient that is.  Grin

Now seriously, a pentagon paper talking about z generation rebellion happening all over the world, including Beijing and Shanghai, seriously? The country that has banned discussions about Tiananmen is going to see a rebellion?  Grin Grin And they have a scenario about it?
A shitty website that relies only on fake news and clickbait titles has published another crappy piece of news, even worse than coinidol, nothing to see here.

Oh, and btw, here is another piece from this garbage site about bitcoin:
https://theintercept.com/2018/03/20/the-nsa-worked-to-track-down-bitcoin-users-snowden-documents-reveal/

Quote
INTERNET PARANOIACS DRAWN to bitcoin have long indulged fantasies of American spies subverting the booming, controversial digital currency. Increasingly popular among get-rich-quick speculators, bitcoin started out as a high-minded project to make financial transactions public and mathematically verifiable — while also offering discretion.

Nice.... Grin

Well, whether this is true or not, I don't know... I always had the feelings that something like this will come up one day. This is one of the reasons I became uncomfortable with so called anarchy around this space. Maybe people have their own better versions of what anarchy means, I don't really know... Bitcoin certainly wasn't based on the anarchy I read about on online dictionary few days ago . It's based on rules, order, consensus, transparency, immutablity, safety, etc. Lawlessness is not that easy on the network like many centralized systems. This is one of the reasons I chose and trust it more. It's basically a good and safe community-driven system.

Bad people hiding behind government to gain support would try every possible trick to discredit Bitcoin and its innocent users. Many will believe without doing thorough investigations. They will try to turn communities against each other, cause distrust, try to make you think that these other people are evil, try to attack and shame you. That is simply the work of the evil one. He doesn't want people to be truly free.

Well, I believe In the end, many will use crypto or something better in the good and safe manner. We will have full control of our coins/assets, use them in well decentralized and safe manner.
