Hey all!

I've recently purchased a new pc and now I just installed my Ledger nano S into it.

I have been adding my accounts into the ledger live with no problem but for 1.

When I try to add XRP account to the ledger live, i get stuck on step 2 where it asks you to open the XRP app on your ledger.

Ive tried the following but to no avail:
1) rebooting ledger live
2) reinstalling XRP app on ledger nano S
3) Updated all to latest firmaware

What else can i do?

I just try to install XRP app on my Nano S and add account, and I had no problems. I can confirm that I have firmware 1.6.0 and that the XRP app is version 1.1.1, but my Ledger Live is 2.0.1. There may be a problem with the version of Ledger Live you're using, so I recommend you try another version. But before that try this possible solution ->  A possible workaround in such cases, and it consists of closing Ledger Live -> open the XRP app on Nano S -> restart Ledger Live -> add an account.

When I try to add XRP account to the ledger live, i get stuck on step 2 where it asks you to open the XRP app on your ledger.

So.. what exactly is the problem ?

Is it that you can't open the XRP application on your nano ?
Or can you open it, but ledger live doesn't do anything further ?


And also please tell us which version of ledger live and which OS you are using.

Ledger nano is kind tricky to new users.

I would do the following

1 open ledger live
2 connect device
3 unlock device
4 click on ledger live xrp account.  Wait for it to ask to open the app on device
5 navigate to xrp app on device.

...but my Ledger Live is 2.0.1.
Is there a particular reason why you are using such an old version of Ledger Live? The newest version is 2.5.0 that just came out a few days ago and allows users to purchase crypto directly from the app. I haven't updated it yet, so I am not sure.
Have you had issues with newer versions and decided to downgrade?

I only use Ledger Live sometimes as a watch-only wallet, so I don't really care which version it is, it's important that it's stable. Some users report problems when upgrading (user Captain-Cryptory), so that's one of the reasons why I don't use the latest version.

Version 2.0.1 is first that I use on my new PC, it was a clean install. For me it is more important that I have the latest Ledger firmware and latest Electrum, since I am mostly focused on Bitcoin.

Version 2.0.1 is first that I use on my new PC, it was a clean install. For me it is more important that I have the latest Ledger firmware and latest Electrum, since I am mostly focused on Bitcoin.

I am always affraid to update my firmware and my HW resets. It happened already 2 times... I don't like to handle my seed as it is secretly hidden lol

 Last time i needed to send coins I used Electrum because  Ledger Live was asking for an update everytime... It went smooth with electrum.

most of those updates are just to prevent physical attacks, which I am not worried about so I prefer not to update...

It can be a little annoying if it happens, but Ledger was supposed to fix that issue in the last firmware (1.6.0), so there should be no problem of that type when new firmware becomes available. I've never had that problem with my Nano S, and as for the Nano X I haven't had a chance to try the firmware update yet.

One of the things to watch out for is that the seed is always at hand in such situations, which can definitely be a problem if it is in another location, or if it is in multiple parts in different locations. As for the word input itself, this is not a problem and goes relatively fast, especially on the Nano X model.

3) Updated all to latest firmaware
Please specify your exact versions of:

- Ledger Nano S firmware version
- Ledger Live version
- XRP app on device version

At the time of writing this, the most recent versions are:

Nano S firmware: 1.6.0
Ledger Live: 2.5.0
XRP app: 1.1.1

OP is saying "Updated all to latest firmaware" which should mean that everything is up to date. He also says "I have been adding my accounts into the ledger live with no problem but for 1." I also install XRP without any problem, so we can conclude that this is not a problem that is widespread - I also offered a possible solution, it is now up to the OP to try it out and come up with feedback.
