Electrum: "Fatal error detected." "Failed to execute script run_electrum."

Hi,

I could use the help of ThomasV or you other Electrum installation Experts. I recently tried to install Electrum 3.3.8 standalone, setup, and portable for Windows 10 Pro, and kept getting the error, "Fatal error detected." "Failed to execute script run_electrum."

Is there a workaround or another way to install Electrum?

I did research this on your forums, but couldn't find this exact error. If it has been discussed and resolved, my apologies. I am new to your boards.

I just installed the latest WN10 download (2020-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4560960) today.

Any help would appreciated.

From memory that was usually an issue with attempting to run Electrum on older Windows 7 versions... where there were some missing .dlls and would require a certain windows update to be installed. However, you're on Windows 10 and should not have that issue.

Have you tried running it as "Administrator"? Right click on the .exe and "Run as"...

Also check the Windows Event Viewer and look in the error logs to see if there is anything more specific there.

It turns out it was a firewall issue and I was able to fix it. Thank you for your reply HCP. Everything is working fine now.
