I think all clients i had from bitcointalk prefer to use bitcoin to buy services / products they needed ...

Not a single client that i had until now used altcoins like ethereum ,litecoin etc or tokens like usdt,usdc ....

Why do you think people don't like to use altcoins to buy things on the internet ?

For me the only really usable crypto currency is Bitcoins, it's just so popular that you can use it in many stores. When buy on selling online the only 2 major currencies I really see is Bitcoins or Ethereum and sometimes Bitcoin Cash. But for me it's all just Bitcoins.  I think for investing it's fine to look at altcoins, but using regulary for purchases I would not recommend altcoins.

Probably because of their huge demand for Bitcoin. You can see that Bitcoin's daily transaction is over $ 16.5 billion and it is also the top 1 coin in the crypto currency market. Many shops and merchants need to keep a lot of bitcoins because they can make a lot of money from bitcoin. they can sell it on the black market and make a lot of profit for the day, which is why many people just want to accept payments in bitcoin.

The simple answer is because bitcoin is very popular among them, and they feel confident to hold bitcoin than to hold the altcoin. Maybe the online store needs to encourage the other store by using the altcoin as an alternative to the payment system, so their customer can start using the altcoin. But that will depend on the user itself, and if they still want to use bitcoin, we can not force them to use altcoin.

2 Things why people tend to buy Bitcoin than altcoins. Trust and popularity.
When you say crypto, the first word that will come to  your mind is Bitcoin right?? Now it is happening to most of the people worldwide increasing its popularity.
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that has been made thus, many people trusted it already because it has been there for a long time.

Possible reasons are:
1. They aren't holding any of the altcoins.
2. They aren't familiar with it.

Yes there are some altcoins which has a transaction speed faster than Bitcoin but the fact that the Bitcoin is the most trusted crypto is the reason why many people are still using it. Some only know Bitcoin too and not know other altcoins that is why they aren't using it to buy things.

I'm not surprised. When it comes to cryptocurrencies people stil trust Bitcoin the most. It's the oldest coin, trusted, the best adopted, could be used in real world for real needs and highest valued. From my point of view, these reasons are enough.
On the other hand, new altcoins appear all the time but very few are worth our attention. Many pretend to take Bitcoin's place but that is not going to happen.

Bitcoin is the most universal cryptocurrency. If a store accepts any crypto, you can bet it's going to be Bitcoin first, and then if you're lucky some other top coins like ETH or LTC.
That's why your average client who comes into a store with a crypto wallet will have BTC and will remembr what the current exchange rate for BTC is. If you approached me and asked if i'd be willing to buy something with BCH, I wouldn't have my BCH with me and I wouldn't know the current exchange rate of BCH, even though I have a bitcoin wallet on my phone and I consider myself a crypto enthusiast. So chances are you will never find someone who:
-knows cryptocurrencies well
-knows and holds a number of altcoins
-holds an altcoin that you accept in your store
-has that altcoin in a walet, not in an exchange
-is willing to pay using that altcoin

   Coolcoinz I agree with you, everything you said is truth. But now many more people knows about Bitcoin and crypto-currencies
then before. Not all of them have wallets on phones, or know much, but they are learning and new people who are interested are
coming. People recognize what's better for them and they will use that.
   You points are good, it's why we need to wait for global adoption for many more years, and I am ready for that waiting.

   

Great. Coming back to OP's question, how many of those newcomers will choose altcoins over Bitcoin? Probably not many.
Even if we hit the point of this "general adoption" altcoins will remain on the sidelines waiting for someone to finally find a use for them, like ETH privacy coins that found this niche group of people who use and support them, or Dogecoin that found it's use as a meme social media coin.
IMO 90% of serious transactions will involve Bitcoin.

On my own opinion, Bitcoin so far is the mostly-used cryptocurrency of all time. Not only that, BTC is mostly used to be converted to fiat money. As for Ethereum and other altcoins, we need to convert them to BTC first before withdrawing them to fiat currency.

Bitcoin’s dominance and influence is another thing. When Bitcoin goes up or down, most of the altcoins (with the exception of stablecoins) are following too. Just my two sats.

There is no way to answer this 100% . It all depends on what is going on with said coin. Altcoins USD or EUR price is determined from the BTC price of the coin. When investing in altcoins that are purchasable via bitcoin, you want to take a look at the btc price of that coin.. That is going to give you more information vs. checking the USD or EUR price.

It doesn't sound strange for me anymore because at the first place, people have really known Bitcoin for so long and even newbies that have gotten on this industry have first introduced on Bitcoin as their first cryptocurrency to must have. Undoubtedly with the popularity that Bitcoin have, no wonder why people tend to buy more Bitcoin compared to other cryptocurrencies which are the Altcoins.

Also, it doesn't look strange anymore because we all do already know that Bitcoin usage and circulation are incomparable to what Altcoins do possess and the reputation of Bitcoin is what stands in front that's why people will most likely purchase and use it more than Altcoins. Although there really are plenty of good Altcoins, the decision will be dependent on the individual on which cryptocurrency he is more comfortable using with.

I thin the actual reason why people hesitate to buy /sell with altcoins is because of the lack of volume in the market. I mean you see more people have stated to accept ETH, XRP because they have a solid market cap and hence everyone is ready to accept them. It would take time for any new crypto currency to be accepted in market because no one wants to accept a coin that is new and has no significant market cap.

All being said, I think prefer BTC over others, it is like why choose other shopping website when I have amazon.

altcoins like etherium is still here and they retain most of thier value  . how can you explain that ?  people only like to make excuses when they are offered by another coin which they arent familiar of  . 

thats them , i am not angry with them because thier choice is still bitcoin but ill be angry if theyl ignore eth and other good alts while choosing those coins that im not familiar with   .  i know when alts became popular , thier use can compete with bitcoin in the future  .

May I ask you what kind of service/products do you offer to customers? Do you have online shop or what? And how big is the demand on your product/services? Is the number of actual sells higher than one hundred in a month? It will be better to share a lot more statistics with us.
If you have just 5-6 customer a month and after that your conclusion is that most people don't buy with bitcoin, then it's not correct, we need higher numbers of customers to have far more accurate findings.

But in overall, yes, there is high demand on bitcoin rather than on altcoins and that's because bitcoin is more known and has higher reputation. A lot of people who knows anything about crypto, bitcoin is the first thing that comes to their mind and believe me, there are a lot of people who don't know that even other cryptocurrencies exist.

It should be which altcoins survive next altcoin purge. There are few like Dodge, XRP, NEO, Dash.. These are valuable but not more gain in holding to wait that they will spike up. They are settled, once was the opportunity to invest into them but only for these firstcomers call them prediction gurus. It's like with IPOs it's very hard to bet on project right and be guaranteed that market will go in right direction that I'll will be successful.

Yes aided by the fact that altcoins are not easy for everyone to understand and a lot of investors and crypto projects only want to work with bitcoins because it was the primary coin and then others followed in the chain.

By the way guys since we are talking about this, it is worth mentioning that bitrefill now allows balance to be preserved in USD once you deposit with bitcoins and eliminate the price volatility completely. you can also keep the balance in bitcoins though if you want.

They also accept ETH/DOGE/XRP and like 5 more coins overall so you might want to try them out and personally I have a great experience with them so far and if you pay proper fees they don't even wait for confirmations on BTC transactions.

What is strange about this you have said? Bitcoin was created first, every newbie that joins this community 90% of the time buys Bitcoin before considering other cryptocurrencies, so what makes you think it is strange that they are making use of Bitcoin instead of other cryptocurrencies for transactions?

Yes, there are other cryptocurrencies that are trying to compete and some of them claims to have better technology than bitcoin, but Bitcoin has been through so many tests, and it’s still going strong even at this time. The thing is, Bitcoin has gotten the most trust than any other cryptocurrency.

I would say if you are doing something a bit more high tech or if you are doing basically crypto related stuff but not towards newbies, just focus on the veterans of the crypto space, you will see that they ask you about other payment options as well.

I personally have sold something in crypto related world before and I was getting paid in crypto, whenever someone was rich or knew what he was doing, they ended up asking for a lot of options, they wanted to pay with so many different things, all together I switched to coinpayments.net so that they could pick whatever they want and I could get paid in bitcoin, but if they are new and novice they didn't really focus on that part, if I told them it was x amount of btc they would pay that, if I told them x amount of eth they would pay that too, payment currency wasn't really a deal to them.
