Hey Guys,
I have a couple of BTChip hardware that are (if I'm not wrong) some kind of prototypes that were back in the old days ( June 2014) given at a French meetup at "la Maison du BTC".

I wasn't in Paris at that time, but BTChip sent me a couple to do some testing and user feedback.

When I say that they are some type of prototype, I meant that they were distributed before the firmware was completely foolproof and also before this message 10 September 2014 saying that the btchip is available on their online website.

"prototype" might not be the right word, maybe "pre-release" or "beta version" or "developer toolkit" ... you chose decide/chose.

These two btchips have been used (i lost the seeds), in order to know which one was which, I did write (5 years ago !!)  with a sharpie 1 and 2.
Also, lot2 has some type of "slot" probably from a knife or something else (don't know how it happened).
You get what you see. I forgot to put my name tag next to photos, but these are low-value objects I guess it doesnt really matter.
(If it is really needed, I could add new photos during the weekend).

I'm selling each btchip as a lot. Lot 1 is the one with a black 1 and lot2 is the one with a black 2

I'm not an auction expert, stealing auction rules from Minerjones.

*Local rule: Please limit posts to bids or comments/questions about the BTchips.
STARTING BID LOT1: 0.0030BTC
STARTING BID LOT2: 0.0030BTC
MINIMUM BID INCREMENT: 0.0005BTC
END TIME: 25th of June 9pm30 - PARIS Time - France (GMT+2) .... I'll let the interested parties convert to their time zone
**Payment due within 48 hours of auction end**
SNIPE: Any bid made in the last 10 minutes will extend the auction 10 minutes beyond the ending time.
If within those 10 extended minutes, a new bid is made, 10 minutes will be added to the auction from the time of that bid.

PAYMENT: Bitcoin BTC. A message will be sent to the winner with payment address make sure it comes from my UID
SHIPPING (added after the auction closes): Based on location and preference. It is going to be a hard one. I'm in New Zealand. I can send it as a registered letter with a 3 to 10 working days (outside of COVID19 disruption) for  NZD$17.40 = 11usd  see this link for details.  There are other, faster (and more expensive) options or the classic untracked, un-signed letter that just cost $2 ...  (responsibility would bear with the buyer for the $2 option). Covid19 might delay things as we don't have that many planes leaving the country

correct bidding format :
Lot1 @ 0.0030BTC
Lot2 @ 0.0030BTC
Lot1 and lot2 @ 0.0030 ( if this format is chosen by a bidder, it means that it is the price for each lot)

incorrect bidding format :
1 Lot @ 0.003  (lot# unspecified)
Lot2 @ 0.0031 (uncorrect increment bid)
Both lots for 0.070  (it may bring confusion to the price per lot)

Happy bidding.

Calling @ChiBitCTy  @krogoth  @krogothmanhattan  @MoparMiningLLC  and @yogg that have expressed their interest to buy similar products.

If this auction turns into a cluster fuck, I reserve the right to cancel it at any time before the end of the timer. ( I really don't want to do that).

it ain't much but it's honest work

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

La Maison du BTC? If I recall correctly, this is where Ledger is or once was. Are these prototypes for the earliest version of what would become Ledger? I do remember a similar looking device that Ledger had before they made the Nano.
Very interesting! Good luck with this auction! A real gem!

there were these - which I have been told came after the BTChip.com versions - the ledger nano (without a screen), the ledger "unplugged" and the HW.1

then later there are the ledgers we typically see now the S and X  and then there is the ledger blue. I even saw a 18k solid gold ledger that costs like 9k usd.

I have several of the HW.1 and one of the ledger nanos (without the screen) I have the whitepaper edition, two of the pizza editions. I have tried to buy a Ledger Blue twice - both times the shipper on eBay failed to ship it and I was forced to go thru the whole paypal claim process to get my money back.

But I actually never saw/heard of the ledger unplugged until I tried to find out the time line of ledger releases today. Does anyone have one of these???

btw looks like hw.1 was the first version? or is the hw.1 essentially the same as the one with the BTChip.com logo and they just rebranded the card without any actual hardware changes?

I don't want to say anything stupid, misleading, or wrong.

I believe that the one I am selling, is definitely a proceeder of the HW.1.  And they share the same shape an likely same "chip"

When I was experimenting with the btchip i'm selling, there was multiple firmware update, and quite a few bugs and debugging via PM with the CFO of Ledger / Btchip

Then, on the french thread, they announced that the hardware wallet (Hw.1 ??) was  available for purchase :  "french message by BTChips"   and that the new firmware was 1.4.10  by that official announcement, I had mine for about 6 months.

Btchips and ledger merged, or one bought the other, I'm unsure.

Maybe you have test ones? I only posted what the btchip.com site has stated on their page. Very possible you had the ones they were testing with prior to releasing the hw.1

Bump on my auction (thanks for the above 2 messages for your input).

For information, I sent a loaded (small denomination) coin to MJ (escrow) from NZ to a US based buyer.
It took 21 days but it arrived safely.
So you know, if the winner is electing the standard untracked mail shipping at $2 usd, it may take 3 weeks.

I’m just now seeing this auction, wish it had run a little longer. I’m curious did these chips come from within a larger plastic piece, like a card that it popped out of ? I’ve seen different holders for them so was just curious.

Yes they are in a larger card that you have to remove them from
