There are several projects that could unseat Ethereum, including Aeternity, Amoveo, Ardor, Ark, BOSCoin, BlockStack, Cardano, Chain, DFINITY, EOS, Genaro, Lisk, NEM, NEO, Qtum, RChain, RSK, Stellar, Stratis, Tezos, Waves, Zilliqa, and others.

you dont include a description for each of them on why those coins can be a contenter of eth but you just list them right off the bat  and whats worst is that most of them are not recognized by mine  .  i think most of them are just a simple sh8t coins  that does not anything to contribute on the crypto space  except on the few of course because i knew them  .  on the list there is waves  , this is the coin that been compare to eth on my early days on this forum but never saw that happening again .  now people like to compare eth now to some newer coins  .

Sincerely speaking, among all the listed coins in your opinion; none can actually withstand the strength of ethereum even though its still not scalable like others. The major contender in the cryptocurrency space which can stand against ethereum is the Binance coin. This coin has the strength to unseat the Queen of cryptocurrency(ethereum), with binance project team members this will be actualize in a very short time. In my opinion, the upcoming ethereum 2.0 upgrade will actually put ethereum into right perspectives and it scalability will be more robust than before.

I think Ethereum's biggest competitors are Binance and EOS. Even though Binance is not a smart contract platform, BInance has tremendous community strength, BNB marketcap might be able to overtake Ethereum later.

I would vouch for Binance all the way. I have been using their exchange and so far it hasn't disappoint me in any way. Sure ETH is somewhat being regarded as the 2nd best cryptocurrency but many coins will come and be a contender to the number 2 spot in the whole cryptocurrency world. Cardano might have what it takes to become 2nd to Bitcoin, but Binance has many features that are very useful and in time this would increase the value of the said coin.

Some of the listed coin from this could grow big in next few years and to beat ETH seems little impossible to me beacuse it requires a lot of big investors to buy such coins and the demand has to be more than ETH . For the next couple of years ETH may continue to lead the way .

So many smart contract platforms have emerged over time, ramping up the competition for ETH. Some have claimed to be the "Ethereum Killer" (like EOS), only to fail altogether. While none have been compared to ETH in terms of decentralization and reliability, there are some projects which aim to base their development on an academic level. One of those projects is Cardano. With a focus on PoS and decentralization, it could become ETH's biggest contender in the future. Other projects like EOS and TRON may have already adopted PoS, but they're inherently centralized. Which is why, I strongly believe that Cardano could topple ETH in the not-so-distant future.

What are your thoughts? Will Cardano become Ethereum's biggest contender? If not, which smart contract platform do you think it will? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

I would like to believe if Cardano is inching or they are in the number 3 position but they on the 6th place they have a good chance though but we all know Ethereum is highly supported and they have a very huge community, it will take a lot of works and Ethereum is always up for the challenge

Yes, l agree with your view that Ethereum's biggest contender is BNB. Both of them are so great and have huge potential to be the best. As you above mentioned even though BNB has a tremendous community, but l think it is not enough to overcome ETH. It is just my prediction, more than that none can predict that, we will see what will happen.

I guess when it comes to top altcoins, there is no cryptocurrency that will be the biggest contender of ethereum but only will just follow the steps of it because I think there is a huge gap between ethereum and any other altcoin. Ethereum is such a useful coin where lots of people benefits from it and has a good potential while any other altcoins are good but not as good as ethereum.

ethereum biggest contender is binance coin.. bnb has a big potential as well as those in the top 10 list.. but the thing about this ethereum even though there are a lot of coins out there it seems that eth is so popular..
Yes I do consider binance over other coins because binance coin also having use case as it use as a internal currency got the biggest exchange in crypto space it’s used for trading fees . Also it’s having its own blockchain or smart chain which provided to create multiple blockchsin based project . But we can’t simply ignore Cardano it may be the future of smart contract if ethereum 2.0 fails .

Featurewise Cardano may have an advantage right now but the ethereum platform is constantly upgrading. And the amount of community supporting the platform is so wide that they will see Eth be always on top. As of the moment, I feel Eth is safe there as the top smart contract platform.

We have no idea what's gonna happen in the future but I see Cardano as a good investment.

For cardano to succeed, it does not necessarily mean it will beat ETH but it can compete because both can grow altogether since crypto is a big market as the adoption increases overtime. Actually I'm done filling up my bags with Cardano since as of this time, it's still very much undervalued based on my own evaluation on the potential of the project.

The supply is high but it should not be a hindrance for it to grow as it's proven that even with high supply coin, it could still succeed like XRP for example.
I believe once the altcoin market returns, it would easily achieve at least $1, so I'm really optimistic with this project.

agree for Cardano, that it is a good competition, if we can call it that way, comparing current numbers regarding users and applications, both Tron and EOS seems to be out of touch, and sliding down, so would not call them real competition, would list Tezos and Zilliqa as ones that could increase their numbers to come close to competitors (EOS and Tron are only real competition at the moment) and BNB will have good support from main business for steady growth

ETH is simply too big at the moment, to have real competition, but that could change in the future, especially if things with ETH2.0 are going slow, as at the moment

There are several projects that could unseat Ethereum, including Aeternity, Amoveo, Ardor, Ark, BOSCoin, BlockStack, Cardano, Chain, DFINITY, EOS, Genaro, Lisk, NEM, NEO, Qtum, RChain, RSK, Stellar, Stratis, Tezos, Waves, Zilliqa, and others.

I haven't heard about at least half of the projects listed above. And I don't have a good opinion regarding any of the projects in the remaining 50%. Some of the projects such as Stellar Lumen, Cardano and NEO showed a lot of promise in the earlier stages. But they were unable to maintain the momentum. So for the next 2-3 years at least, I don't think that there will be any major competition for ETH.

You're kidding right?

I agree with some of these platforms, but only because they are actual smart contract platforms that have been around for a while and have been growing in terms of DAPPS using them but sorry to say, some of them have been well on their way out and will never get the same kind of mainstream usage the way ETH does.

ETH you must remember is also a well accepted currency. Have you seen ANY of thse coins also used to pay for services? I know I've seen Stratis on ONE casino. Nothing else.

I think in the next 2-5 years there will be no platform that can compete with ETH because now ETH is the second mover after BTC for the up and down movements of cryptocurrency prices

All these Ethereum pretentders have tried but have failed to gain any significant market share, it was Tezos I thought would give ethereum ride for its money but have failed to gain significant momentum. IMO, I think Binance chain has the potential to be Ethereum biggest contender because of its competitive advantage

Ethereum's definite competitor in my opinion is Ripple, top 2 and 3 are always tight competitors, but now Ripple is still asleep, if this giant wakes up then I am sure XRP can be in the top 3 again

Although many other altcoins want to compete with ETH, everything will be in vain, because the development of ETH and transaction volume is much faster than other altcoins, and for the next 5 years ETH is still superior.

Or even top 2, like it did in the past, XRP has been sitting in the number 2 spot for awhile before ETH reclaim its spot, but I don't think XRP is still that strong now to get back on top, it's just too centralized and I believe the coins that will lead in the market the real decentralized coins.
