Because I can get an antminer U1 for a 1/5th fraction of the price, in other words, the antminers are worth about 2/3rds the hashrate, and require only one plug and less electricity.

Dude, get your head out of your ass. A used USB hub is worth like $5-10. Go ahead and try to sell it on ebay and see what you get.

And those BE are worth less than $1USD. They only do one thing (mine BTC), and it's expected BTC return is almost insignificant.

I'll offer you those prices: $5 for the hub, and $0.75 for each BE. This works out to 0.022BTC.
