In the article, it seems like he is a hero. He said that if ever someone uses the logo or the name for a scam, he will try and defend the title of Bitcoin. From my Google search about scams relating to Bitcoin in Spain, it seems there were a lot of people that were affected by this.
The title is wrong - it was trademarked, not patented.
The writer may have not known the difference between the two just because of the title. Additionally, the author might have confused it since the office that granted the Trademark is called
"Spanish Patent and Trademark Office"
