Visual appeal - important to a project launch?

I'm ready to launch my new bitcoin website but my HTML/CSS designer has turned out to be a "shallow AI".  While very good at the tasks, he seems to have the same lack of "right brain" thinking I do.

I'm at the point in development where I need to move forward with business expenses, since dealing with blockchain makes the order of events very important.  To do this, I need to publish my investor website, where I will be selling fifty shares of the corporation to raise 6.6 BTC, backed by a crypto token and possibly a collector item.  The one hundred shares/tokens will constitute automatic profit distribution. I am not releasing a new coin, doing an airdrop, etc.  My remaining personal funds are tied up in real estate, and there is no market right now.  :/

So my question - is it better to spend resources making it pretty or citing technical information?   The full technical details of each service we provide will be added once we have established consultants in those areas.

I need someone who is able to prove their work in a simple design for this investor website.  Just one master page that I can apply to other pages easily.

I welcome newbies looking to work at home to establish themselves... please send an email listing any provable work, and compensation expectations.  Expect there to be at least fifty hours a week for the first three-six months, at which time the work will slow down.  When applying, do not include any personal information - crypto is blind.

If I can give my 2 sats here, visual or at least a good and attractive design is very important. How many websites do we shit because of poor UI? As the saying goes, first impressions last, so for me it's very important specially for your audience.

And it's also sort of a reflection to you and the whole project itself, specially to your investors. The layouts, the fonts and everything, it should the a total package.

I'd advice you hire someone to make it pretty. Reason being is that everything is about first impressions. If you don't impress within the first 5 seconds, the user will click back.

Hiring a UI/UX guy should only cost you a couple hundred bucks.

Are you going to let your “investors” know about your plan to move to a 3rd world country to retire and have these low paid individuals who give you their personal info fund your retirement?

You have more experience here than I do.   How does one steal 6BTC?   Do I promise outrageous returns and then just empty the wallet and act stupid?

Although the technical scheme is the most important to most business, you still need eye catching things to attract users. So, why not?

But surely don't go too much for that.

Related to the subject. I think that is more important content and functionality on the website. Also, I prefer minimalism and simple design. I don't want some colourful things to bring my attention, rather than some useful fact on the website. Of course, it doesn't have to be like loyce.club where it is just cluttered with data.
Great design and UIX very often requires some additional functionality, which is done in various .js frameworks, and this often leads to a slowdown in loading. I guess you also more love the fast website rather than beautiful, animated, flashed, cool stuffed but slow pages.
If you watch some useful and trustable websites like Coinbase, Blockchain.com ... without or with a minimum of design but they still have a good reputation and no one blames them for the minimal approach to design.

I'm a little unclear here. isn't it too much time fifty hours/week in 3-6 months for just a one master page? Or you expect something more there?

1,000,000 times more important is getting the bones built correctly.  Once it's ready hire a designer to make it look professional.

Be as lean as you can now with your funds - don't waste time with designers before you've got the platform implemented.

Also, did you say you're dedicating 6.6BTC to developing this site?  That's an insanely large amount of money to have to spend in 2020 to get something like this.  I've had a fairly advanced platform being built for the last 4 months 40 hrs/wk and it's cost me less than 10k with someone who is an absolute pro developer.

You want to be getting an mvp as quick and cheap as possible, it's the easiest way to fail before you start (going for all the bells and whistles and overthinking the process).  Go cheap and test the concept first because no matter how much money you throw at it it's almost certainly going to need significant rebuilding within the first year.  

I deliberately build sites funded with my own money because then the need to keep lean is always in the front of your mind - if other people fund it you risk being too relaxed with overspending

The design you'll need to have looking perfect on launch is the landing page and perhaps an overall website template. If you plan ahead, it shouldn't cost too much. You're not asking for extreme functionality if it's just to present a project at first. From what I understand some features could be rolled out later so no need to rush into spending much there.

With that out of the way, yes I would say that appearance is very much a key point to promoting a project these days. Sadly or not many people look at this thing first and foremost when they go into crypto. Like, even savvy people in the space judge projects by this factor. Even if they know that the technical background is more important. Many compare the deigns to see how much a project takes its marketing seriously (i.e. how appealing it'll be to a more average investor).

For developing the technical details, I'd say do your best to show there's a solid, feasible plan and that you as a team have what it takes to carry through the tasks.

Yes, it is unclear,  Two separate things - asking for a quick design for someone to prove their work, as well as give examples of previous work, and then the second part was the work I would expect to have if I liked your examples.  :/

6.6 BTC is a constantly changing value.  It allows for the purchase of some technologies and patents, corporation legal formation, insurance costs, then the largest cost is contractors.  There are too many new technologies involved to have one person who is an expert in everything.  Those funds pay development for a year and then two further years of maintenance.  At that time the service will be self sufficient.  Most of the services we offer will be free for the first while as well.  Finally, the budget is in a "worst case scenario" of slow membership growth, most expensive cloud prices, all contractors working for cash only, general disinterest in service, etc.   The final number should be much lower as the community decides the most likely scenario and developers give up some $$ compensation for corporation shares.

I need a web designer to build with me, since we are inventing new interfaces - not just making a web form look nice.    This not a project I want to work on for the next five years - there are  leading edge services that will make the early adopters very rich.  I have built several successful sites in my life - including design in the days when HTML was so much simpler.    Finally, all money is put into a smart contract to be paid out as needed.  Myself, I am only taking a US$3,000/month salary for one year for full time development.   I'm hoping this system we build together will help fund our new stay at home lifestyles.

It's an idea I'm thinking about.  I'm the second most recognized person on this forum, and I've never been accused of any financial wrongdoing or sold out to anyone.  I have the collectible idea, and it will contain the hidden key to claim your corp share when you invest.   For those who want a powerful piece of bitcointalk history, it will be a must buy.
