Please help. Please tell me it could be recovered
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Sending from btc to tether or any other currency addresses will make the transaction irreversible. If the transaction has no confirmation already it is still likely possible to reverse it but ones it has been confirmed by a miner (1 confirmation) it means the transaction has been propagated already into blockchain network, and the transactions will be lost because no address will match the address you sent to in the blockchain.

Recovering your USDT is possible if :
1. You know who is the owner of that BTC address (will referred as "the owner")
2. The owner have knowledge how to access USDT from his/her BTC address
3. The owner is willing to take possible risks when accessing USDT (such as copy/paste private key to different wallet)
4. The owner is willing to help you

If the owner is exchange and you only send small amount USDT, it's very likely they won't help you.
It is not possible.

It is possible if he send to wrong address of the same cryptocurrency and if he knows the receiver and the receiver is willing to help but if the receiver is not known or not willing to help, then it is not possible. For example, sending btc to a btc address, or sending tether to a tether address. And I iterate again, this will not be recovered if he does not know the owner of the address as you have said.

But the case now is different, he sent tether to btc address, just like when a friend of mine sent litecoin to btc address, the fund was completely lost and the transactions got complete confirmations. In this case, the owner of btc address that he sent tether to will neither receive any confirmation nor any payment.

https://tether.to/deposit-of-wrong-tokens-or-wrong-addresses/
Tether does not offer a token recovery service for deposit mistakes (e.g., deposits of tokens not supported by Tether or tokens sent to a wrong address).

Seems that you don't know how tether transactions work.
Tether doesn't have its own blockchain and is sent through three other blockhchains.
1. BTC (Omni layer)
2. Ethereum.
3. Tron

The OP has likely used Omni layer on bitcoin blockchain and sent tether to a BTC address.
Any one who has access to private key of the BTC address can recover USDT tokens.
Sending USDT tokens to a BTC address is something like sending ERC20 tokens to a Ethereum address not sending Litecoin to a BTC address.

To OP:

Take a look at following thread. It may help you. It's a similar case posted a few day ago.

The link was so helpful and helped me understood more about tether and the three blockchain you can use to send it.
Even, if the person send through ERC-20 and Tron blockchain, so far the wallet the tether is sent to is noncustodian in which private key for bitcoin, ether and tron can be accessed, the person will definitely receive the tether sent using the respective (bitcoin, ether or tron) addresses. Hope i am right? That means ETFbitcoin is right, but if sent to a wrong address in which the sender do not know who he send the tether to, the transactions can not be reversed.

I sent the usdt from binance to cash app btc address

If I remember correctly, Binance switched from Omni-based addresses to ERC-20-based addresses for USDT last year and no longer support withdrawal of  OMNI-based USDT. So you should have entered an Ethereum Address. Did you contact Binance support? Maybe they can help. If not, there is no way to recover it.

You can actually still select whichever network to deposit and withdraw USDT from when it comes to binance. Omni, ERC20 and Tron are all available.

Unfortunately, Cash app is a custodian wallet, which means you do not have control over your wallet private-keys or seed.

You will have to contact their support and explain the situation. Give them the transaction ID, amount, addresses, everything.

Maybe if you are luck and/or the amount you sent is relatively big, they will manually recover them for you (maybe for a fee). Some exchanges/services do that, others don't even bother to trying help you. But that's the only possible solution.

Help? Theres no way any crypto exchange site in the world would help their customer in such situations cause the sent the USDT to a custodian wallet and the last chance the OP have is for him to provide us the transaction ID so we can know if the transaction is yet to be confirmed.

ETFbitcoin, was right and there are also some transaction which doesnt belong to the same blockchain that can still be recover. An example is BCH which is mistakely sent to BTC address it can recover through the help of an honest miner which will need only.
The BCH transaction hash on BTC address; the public key for the BTC address and the address to receive Bitcoin Cash.

There are two ways to cancel an unconfirmed transaction.
1. Replacing the unconfirmed transaction with a new one in the case RBF has been enabled. (RBF must be enabled when making the original transaction.)
2. Double spending with a higher fee. (It's very unlikely to succeed.)

Since the transaction has been made from binance, the OP has no control over the transaction. So, even if the transaction is still unconfirmed, cannot do anything.

I see there is always a note in the wallets or exchanges that sending any other currency to this address will make it non-refundable.
In any case, the USDT is sent to the Ethereum address in a wallet that supports ERC20. If the other party owns the private key for this wallet, I think it may help you to recover your wrongly converted currencies.
Even if a token recovery is possible, it is a difficult process and is done manually and costs some money, so if the amount is large, you should try. If the amount is small, it is better to forget that.

I thought OP mistakenly sent his USDT to BTC address on OMNI layer. Even it is, recovery is not easy, depends on willingness to help of owner (that likely is exchange) and with not small costs will be charged.

I quoted my post and a perfect explanation from Danny Hamilton on same problem.
There are three chains for USDT now: Omni layer that is built on Bitcoin blockchain; ERC20 that is built on Ethereum blockchain, and TRC20 that is built on Tron blockchain.
ERC20 tokens have the address format of Ethereum address, but they are not ETH. More important, the problem of OP is he does not have any control on private key or mnemonic seeds of the address. In crypto "Not your keys, not your bitcoins; not your keys, not your crypto; not your keys, not your funds".

It is not a discrimination between global and domestic exchanges but domestic exchanges tend to be small and their supports probably not good enough. Moreover, big exchanges do not mean that they must or always provide such recovery services for users. If they have such recovery services, the fees often are high. If fees are higher than what people can get back, it is out of luck again.
Here are some very important concepts to learn if you are going to continue to use Bitcoin. Please take a moment to read through this post:

The reason that "blockchain" couldn't help

The company called blockchain that runs a website called blockchain is not THE blockchain.  Imagine if I were to create a company called "Internet Services", and that my company has a website that lists the names of all the internet email providers that I know of.  That doesn't mean that I am in control of THE internet or of any of those company's email services.  If you were to send an email from Google's gmail service over THE internet to someone else's AOL email address, and that email were to fail to arrive...  Calling my company that publishes the list of email service providers isn't going to accomplish much.  I'm not Google (the provider that you sent from). I'm not AOL (the provider that you sent to). I'm not THE internet (the technology that you used to send the email).

That's what happened when you tried to contact "blockchain".  There is a company called "blockchain". They provide a website that lists all the blocks that they know about in THE public blockchain. That does not mean that they are in control of the blockchain, or any of the services that make use of that public blockchain.  When you sent bitcoins from Coinbase through THE blockchain to someone else's service and those bitcoins failed to arrive... Calling the company that publishes the list of known blocks isn't going to accomplish much. They are not Coinbase (the service provider you sent from). They are not the service provider that you sent to. They are not THE blockchain (the technology that you used to send the bitcoins.

It can be confusing that there is both a technology called blockchain and a company called blockchain.  The company did not create the blockchain (they came along later and just named themselves after the existing technology).

The reason Coinbase couldn't help

Coinbase provides you a place to acquire bitcoins, and sends them elsewhere on your behalf.  Bitcoins are not an electronic "account" like you are used to with a bank.  It works more like an electronic representation of a CASH (paper and coins) transaction.  If you pay someone $100 with an electronic account (like a credit card) you can contact the company that provides that account and they can cancel the transaction.  If you hand someone a $100 bill, and they walk away...  The money is gone.  There is nobody to call.  The only person that can give you that $100 back is the person that you gave it to.  When you "sent a transaction from coinbase" what actually happened was that you asked coinbase to give some of the bitcoins that they were holding on your behalf to someone else (more specifically, to a bitcoin address that was not under their control).  Once they turned over those bitcoins, there isn't anything coinbase can do to get them back.  The only person that can give you the money back (or access the money at all) is the person (or company) that controls the address that you sent to.

The reason the receiver is having difficulty getting their service to fix this

Managing control over crypto-currency requires the use of digital keys.  Each address has a key that will allow controlling of any funds at that address. The ONLY way to control those funds is with that key... AND... ANYONE with control of that key (or a copy of that key) can control those funds.  Now imagine you run a service (similar to Coinbase) where you are managing the funds of thousands (or millions) of people on their behalf.  That means your service has thousands (or millions) of keys to keep secure. If a disgruntled employee can get their hands on any of those keys, then they can steal funds from your customers.  Therefore, you need to have extremely strict control over who can access the keys and how they are accessed.  Also, if you were to lose any of those keys, the funds would become permanently inaccessible.  It is possible to copy keys, but it is not possible to re-create a key without a copy of the original. Scammers, thieves, and other criminals will contact the service regularly, pretending to be a customer with an unusual situation and ask them to do something out of the ordinary with the keys in hopes of gaining control of the funds or tricking the service into sending funds.  It is this high level of security and caution with their customer's funds that makes it time consuming and difficult to subvert their normal security processes to acquire a BTC key for a BCH address.  Because of the time, difficulty, and risk... many services will either refuse to help or will require a significant fee to help in a situation like this.

However, the receiver's service is the ONLY entity that CAN fix this

Since the receiver's service is the entity that controls the digital keys of the address that you sent to, and since it is impossible to control funds without that digital key... You are at the mercy of the receiver's service.  If they are unwilling to help you, then you either need to find a way to force them to help, or you need to consider this an expensive lesson in being careful about where you send your crypto-currency.

Crosschain Deposit Recovery

Crosschain - A deposit of one coin to a different coins address is considered a crosschain deposit

Bittrex will only attempt to recover crosschain deposits that exceed $5000 at the time of deposit, within 7 days of the deposit and will charge a 0.1 BTC for this recovery. Recovering coins crosschain is an inherently dangerous and time consuming process.

Due to our new Crosschain Recovery System, the minimum requirement for crosschain recoveries is $3000 at the time of deposit for the following crosschain pairs:

Yes the OP have no control over the transaction but there are some crypto exchange site that offer deposit/transaction recovery which user OcTradism have quoted above. However, there's still some chance that the OP can still get his USDT and what he need to do is provide the tx ID if the transaction is confirmed what he have to do is contact the Cash app customer support for help if the offer deposit recovery services.

@OcTradism, the post you quoted is mainly talking about cross-chain transactions which is not the case here. OP sent USDT Omni to a bitcoin address. Omni Layer uses the bitcoin blockchain. Basically, all it takes to recover the coins is to import the private key into an Omni wallet.

@OP, contact CashApp customer support as they are the only one able to help you. Binance can't do anything about it as I suppose the transaction got many confirmations by now.

Waiting to hear back from cashapp. Binance said they couldn't help

Of course they can't.
They sent the transaction to the address you gave them.

The only way you get your USDT back is that cashapp is voluntarily retrieving them for you.
Please note that you have no right to get your USDT back. If they are willing to help you, that's goodwill. Otherwise you are out of luck.
