A lot of people are celebrating the news that Paypal wants to be an intermediate exchange for Bitcoins and I can see the big gains that Paypal as a company will make,

But I will put in my two coins and say that this is also an act of spitting in the face of hundreds, thousands, maybe even a hundred thousand people who's PayPals strict no Bitcoin policy caused emotional and economic damage to the users who's accounts we're closed and funds were charged back

If PayPal will really go forward with cryptocurrency I guess they are swallowing their policy in the past, they are really against bitcoin and cryptocurrency before. You can see some conversation on paypal community here about bitcoin. It is both good and bad, It is bad what they have done in the past closing users account due to crypto transaction and now they embracing it. The good thing is, this will help adoption given that paypal have a huge number of users around the world. I guess they should enable or reimburse any lost fund on all users to make up with what they have done in the past.

I don't think you have any legal ground or even any ground to complain.
It's their rules and TOS what they allow on the platform and what they don't allow. They can change it at any time.

Yh, just because there was a time where Paypal was against BTC and cryptocurrency doesn't mean that they can never atone. It seems rather conveniently for both sides, crypto industry as well as Paypal that a partnership will land both sides bigger profit.

It goes to show also that Paypal wasn't taking crypto seriously in the past but now they just don't want to be left behind.

I actually used to think of Paypal as an excellent service and wallet provider but they are so idiotic with their Dispute Management that I had to face a loss of around $200 for almost no reason.

I made a deal at localbitcoins and I was aware of the reversible nature so I asked the trader to clearly mention that the payment is for services that was being provided online and he is satisfied with the work and hence paying me. But he still charged back and Paypal was so idiotic they ignored all the messages and kept demanding the receipt which obviously was not there.

I agree with you that Paypal should be dragged to legal notice for such policies now that they are appreciating BTC while earlier being so much against BTC.

Paypal sucks even as a wallet provider. Just look at the number of accounts they limit/freeze and people can't withdraw their money.. Also what kind of payment service does not allow buying/selling bitcoin? It's your money, means you should be able to buy anything with it that is not illegal!

The only credit I can give to Paypal is the fact that they close accounts of Ponzi and PTC websites and stop working with them, which at least discourage scammers somewhat.

They did have TOS which I guess they can use in court, I think their defense is already solid for your argument.
The rumors of them getting into crypto is probably because they slap by the truth that they are losing clients because people are now using BTC.

Paypal is to big and no class action lawsuit can bring them down.
I would never keep my Bitcoin or any other crypto on Paypal, but many people would use it same way they use and keep coins on exchanges.

PayPal has regretted their previous actions against cryptocurrency and have be remorse for their past deeds. They have seen many goods things coming into the future through cryptocurrency and they're getting along with others. Well, anyone could be PayPal but giving someone a chance to change his past is great. We'll know that every company has their policies and PayPal likewise has theirs, so, anyone instituting lawsuit against them or plan to should at first read one and over again their policies.

Just because they didn't like bitcoin doesn't mean they won't like it in the future.

Class action for what exactly?

For changing their minds about bitcoin? Funny.

I doubt if it is going to work. Paypal have a solid TOS and being a service provider for many decades have using the trust of many global company. I personally don't like them because they limit and freezes peoples funds without no reason and their customer service has been very poor lately. If they are going to consider blockchain in the future, I'm not convince it is going to be the same method and a more centralized platform

I don't think you have any legal ground or even any ground to complain.
It's their rules and TOS what they allow on the platform and what they don't allow. They can change it at any time.
But they must have a reason and prior notice before they implement any changes.

I was reading this article after I got to know the news - https://cointelegraph.com/news/paypal-dabbling-in-crypto-could-make-btc-a-mainstream-payment-option

I am actually happy that such a giant payment system is now thinking of accepting and allowing the purchase of bitcoins directly and even working with some exchanges to provide liquidity to the market.

No matter how someone feels, I am really happy with the news and having such giants accept bitcoins will only do good for bitcoins and our crypto ecosystem.

Because if they will truly accept crypto, then that's a slap on the face for them. They should really return the funds lost from the users and apologize for what they had done in the past. Though it is good news in the crypto community, but they need to rectify first their previous action. I am a user of PayPal and that's good news for me so I believe those crypto users that are using PayPal will feel the same with this development.

When we do mention about adoption then this Paypal possible crypto integration is indeed a big news not just an ordinary adoption info that we do able to read that some establishments accept crypto into their service or platform yet we know on how big Paypal is in terms of payment transactions etc. In regards into their mistakes in the past then theres no other way to clear it up but to compensate into those users that had been blocked
but totally im still hesitating if they are really that serious on crypto integration? I cant just imagine that they do accept it since we know that this is heavily contradicting towards their TOS.
Lets see on how they do make some big adjustments into this one.

Yeah, they has their terms and policies which we all agreed when creating our paypal account, but I am sure the post has been made to mock paypal.
Like yeah, funny how paypal was antibitcoin and all strict policies regarding any bitcoin transaction made through paypal. Lots of people had to go through a lot of trouble because they weren't aware of the policies. And now look at them? They have changed their face once they realized the potential.
The rumors might be through since paypal already has job posting looking for crypto engineers.

You sure about that? If they roll out a platform for buying and selling crypto, I bet they will still prohibit peer-to-peer trading and facilitate chargebacks against sellers who violate their TOS. I don't think anything will change in that respect.

They would be looking to compete with Coinbase, not Localbitcoins. Peer-to-peer exchanges are big fraud and money laundering risks. I don't see Paypal going that route.

Actually you can't complain against the changes of their terms because in the first you are the one who accepts their terms but violated it by using it for crypto-related activities so you might lost your funds or whatever. But when Paypal wants cryptos to be in their use then they will update their terms and every user has to accept it before using their platform again.
