A mixer based on smart contracts?

Do you think it's possible to create a smart contract based mixer that would anonymize ETH and ERC-20 tokens? Considering that there have been talks about integrating zkSNARKs into Ethereum, I've been wondering if a decentralized mixer would be feasible on-chain. If made possible, it would completely revolutionize the crypto industry as we know it. We might have no need for separate privacy solutions, as smart contracts would make everything possible right from the Blockchain. This solution would be far more decentralized than centralized mixers hosted by a third party.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a previous projects about this so called mixer, I have bookmark it in my old laptop though. But the last thing I heard that it was a scam and it's good that I never try it in the past.

I think it's feasible to have ETH mixer, but the problem is that if people are going to use it. Again, I was under the impression that no one back like 2-3 years ago are interested. But time has change, just maybe there are sort of ETH mixers in the crypto sphere that we haven't heard before.

It's really a nice idea to see a Ethereum kind of mixer. However, Ethereum has been in crypto space and still no one has successful implemented it. And if some bright minds comes up with this solution, it should have been created many years ago, together with the advent of bitcoin mixer as we have seen is multi-million if not billion dollar business already. It is feasible? Yes, but  I don't know if if can bring Ethereum to that next level as far as being a privacy coin. There are a lot of privacy coins in altcoin market, like Monero.

As far as I there is no decentralized mixer for ETH that runs on smart contract (sorry if i turn out to be wrong).

Good to know. With a mixer running on smart contracts, many ERC-20 tokens can be anonymized in a decentralized fashion. The only issue is that bugs and vulnerabilities on the mixer contract could greatly undermine the ETH blockchain if it's too complex. Remember, the greater the complexity of a smart contract, the greater the risks will be. I'd imagine that governments will be on mixer developer's tail in order to prevent people from using such services. The mixer contract will still be decentralized, but not many people will be able to use it if governments declare it to be "illegal".

At least, we know it's possible to create a mixer right on the ETH blockchain. With zkSNARKs and sidechains, mixers based on smart contracts could eventually replace centralized mixing services. It all depends on how people adopt decentralized mixers for their own privacy. If there's low demand, the idea of a mixer built on ETH smart contracts won't be going anywhere. I hope that talented developers make this possible in the future. Just my opinion
