I heard the news as well in my local news, they even include Bill Gates and other famous celebrities, and not just everything crypto-related. Kinda scary how many fell into that kind of scam since many followers believe in their favorite celebrities. Not to mention that there were like these as well in Youtube but except it was merely a fake channel claiming to double your ETH when you send one.
Really? That's shocking news! However, I think people with experiences will not believe in those tricks. Americans usually say "too good to be true". I don't think a lot of people with understandings, knowledge, experience about this cryptocurrency market will fall into this trick. However, there are many people who don't know about the risk of being scammed in this market, they probably will be fooled!

We've been seeing that method of scam and anyone who actually fell for that is extremely greedy. How on earth will anyone for instance think Bezos will request for BTC from followers, promising to double it? Any wise person who is not carried away by greed should easily spot the scam attempt. However, Twitter should tighten their security it should serve as a call to upgrade.

The toll is now more than 12 btc although new transactions have now stopped coming and the person responsible have already emptied the wallet. This can be the biggest blunder on Twitter's side as this can't be caused by a single person screwing up, then only a single account would have posted this endorsement. I guess the Twitter database have been leaked and for now the hacker group is only targeting the verified accounts for maximum earnings possible. Twitter is hevaily liable on this matter. If they were to switch to a decentralized micro-blogging platform where private keys are the only method to access, this wouldn’t have happened!
This can be a good alternative, but in case of leak of private key there won't be recovery possible and I don't think that one will be able to recover that account from the control of hacker and also wouldn't be able to block the attacker from accessing the account since login only uses private key of the user.

Although I agree on twitter's fault to let such a vulnerable on their system but still, why would anyone still gullible and fall for a scam like that?

This incident is different since they are using the real account of those popular crypto exchange and know personality in crypto or in real life. They can easily fools their supporters for posting it in their own channel. That kind of news should spread immediately before many people will deposit on that address and scam many of the their supporters. Looks like Twitter is not so secured to have an account there since its vulnerable to hacking like this which can be a big problem in the future for personal use Twitter account for updates. Although I agree on twitter's fault to let such a vulnerable on their system but still, why would anyone still gullible and fall for a scam like that?
You also can't blame them because the tweet came ifrom a legitimate account and not from a dummy that's why they trusted it.

Billgate's account was also getting hacked by kirk. As far as I know, if the hacker named kirk was the main party who has been hijacking the internal software of twitter and then they were changed the email of the hacked accounts for with his email.

it was rumored that the hacker was able to access one of the twitter admin account control panel after his account got hacked. the method on how the attack was made is still unknown. possibly using an Email scams in which the admin failed for it. we awaits for more news on that issue. it is a surprise that people still fall for such scam.
This looks more like it because it was surprised at how possible that could be. The accounts in question here are big accounts of big people in the crypto space. Well, we are just seeing these names because they are the ones that concern us most in the space we are in. I am sure that there are so many other accounts that would have been hacked.

Many investors have trusted and this makes them lose a lot of money. In just a few hours the hacker group has earned over 12 BTC and this is a huge number. I think it's best to never trust games like this because it's definitely a scam and now that BTC address will definitely be blocked by all major exchanges and won't be usable. However, stolen people will never be able to take it back and this is a lesson they should avoid when participating in this market.

Hopefully he could traced where he deposit the BTC and if it's an exchange that could cooperate with the police they will be caught. It's really unfortunate event and the security breach should be taken seriously. Although it's because some people are too gredy to earn fast money but the fact that the twitter comes from official account that got hacked makes this case different than usual. Hackers is outsmarting them, they are now using Monero to hide their tracks. So it will be very difficult to trace them, and they could have cash it out by now, for all we know. As for the greediness, it's human nature, you really need to really used our common sense. Even if it comes from official account, you should question, how come suddenly those people are giving free money? Doesn't make sense right?

Until whenever there will still be many people trapped by the same thing because human weakness is money. I think reading a lot and hanging out a lot will make us have knowledge about this. Many people still close their eyes and do whatever they want, so they often get caught up in similar scams. Sad reality

Really a lot of people feel very bad during this time because they blindly transferred money to these addresses. I think if you have been in this market for a long time, you will soon realize it and stay away immediately. However, hackers are very smart when it is possible to attack celebrities' Twitter and this is a serious security hole that Twitter needs to address soon.

Be really careful in this market because there are so many hackers and we could be in danger at any time We must be careful to click any links because that is not guaranteed to feel safe from the hackers. There will be other things that the hackers will search for the next target because they can explore the bug to find the benefits for them, and they are smart enough to see the other bug. Twitter needs to improve its security if that is from their website, and the other side needs to be cautious from the hacker.

I don't know for sure what the cause is but from some information from other forums saying that there is someone who has a friend who works at the company and hacks but I don't know the details. But there are also those who say that employees of these companies sell data to someone, and in my opinion this is very logical. From this case I learned also about the types of malware that might be able to do that and the method.

Yeah it has been circulating around and many articles have already been written about it. Justin DuSun of Tron has already offered $1mnl to who ever would be able to track down the hackers. It is a big blow not only on twitter, and crypto community but other business ventures as well.

Now i know how to deal with them and prevent myself from clicking links sent by usually newbies and hacked accounts. There are 4 threads that i cross just within an hour about this twitter issue. And yeah all the victims are popular and prominent people that can easily be used to gather crypto as donors.
