Because the market today was on it`s blood bath, I spent my time in browsing social media app (Facebook). Upon scrolling down, I have seen this post of a vlogger superblondie. I am following her because she shows her luxurious cars and this post amazed me.

Imagine, she has already the first functional bitcoin watch in the whole world. The watch has it`s BTC symbol at the front and back. It has also the qr code wherein the funds of the owner were stored. She scanned it and when she open it, 2422 BTC was stored or approximately 17 million dollars. It has also its back up or private keys.

It is really incredible to see that cryptocurrency is integrating in our life. This video proves the literal meaning of "Time is Gold" or either "Time has bitcoin". Imagine, if all of our watch have qr code?

Positive side:

1. We can buy without the use of mobile phone and cash in the future.
2. We can`t forgot to wear our watch because we always be reminded that our assets is stock on it.
3. It is not hassle because our watch has double purpose, it can be wear and it can be used to buy or pay.

Negative side:

1. Vulnerable to snatchers or criminals, specially if your watch is branded.
2. If you lose your watch and private keys, goodbye bitcoin as well.
3. You can`t but to a merchant who does not accept crypto`s.

There are always a positive and negative but the good thing here is that she promotes bitcoin to the people by simply showing her luxurious watch.

Bitcoin is the future!

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

was posted on December 1, 2019, I had to google it to see if it was really true that it was posted on December 1, 2019 and to my surprise there is another article from May 22, 2019 that talks about this news

Franck Muller, Famous Swiss Watchmaker, Launches the World's First Functional Bitcoin Watch, in Partnership with Regal Assets

What I find strange was that I didn't hear about this last year and Is strange that news channels like cointelegraph, coindesk didn't report on this news

I did watch this video last year but I am not sure whether it was on Youtube or on Facebook. It is a kind of a promotion video by the watchmaker because till that time no one had bought it. I do not whether it has been sold by now. But, it is interesting to see such craftsmanship.

If practical wise, This won't be efficient at all, knowing that there is not much merchant who is accepting bitcoin as their payment.

Having this means you are flexing something expensive. Supercarblondie reviews such expensive things, No wonder if this watch costs thousands of dollars or buy judging the structure of watch it is packed with diamonds which can be possible valued in millions.

What better way to securely store your hard earn million dollars worth of bitcoin than to literally have it on your wrist for everyone to see? lol. What could actually go wrong? This is really interesting but at the same time really really dumb. A perfect way to get $5 wrench attacked.

EDIT: So apparently it's just an address and not a private key.
I kind of doubt it.... Grin

Let's face it, this is not a watch that the average woman will put on her hand, this is for super rich people who have personal guards and live in a different world from the one inhabited by ordinary mortals. It's something the rich brag about, and apart from the QR code, I'd be more interested in how secure a private key is on that USB stick.

What I find strange was that I didn't hear about this last year and Is strange that news channels like cointelegraph, coindesk didn't report on this news

I reviewed the video once more and I found out that it was uploaded 8 months ago. I just saw it in social media and I thought it was happened few days or weeks because I never seen that video in forum.

Anyway, I agree with your opinion. The fact that the woman in the video has a lot of luxurious cars to be model in social media, she is really a rich woman. And to be practical, no one will wear that watch everyday specially if you will go to beach or market. Definitely, that watch is only for exclusive events.

So in a sense it's like a fake rolex. Grin
She doesn't own that address or the private keys.
Nice find of the address cause I wouldnt have thought of trying to scan it.
If it's from the mt.gox heist then they might as well be handcuffs and not a watch for their wrists. Wink

The rule is simple. bitcoin can be represented in any physical form, it is easy to buy or sell products that have some bitcoin.
You need to print the public key and the private key to get the money. hide the private key and all done.
some can make small digital devices like ledger and sell them.
you dont need even to print private key or public key.

Bitcoin Watch will develop a lot in the coming years.

Isn't she the one who has able to test drive all the fancy cars in the world mentioning the most expensive car companies? I'm following this lovely girl to her account too.

About the watch, I guess it's not hers just like the address of it.

But thinking about a watch that has a QR code in it does not make it any special for me, I've seen a lot of stuff added with QR code, and a watch? ehh.
If you're walking with that, you're like walking with a name tag of your bank name. who gets cozy wearing that thing?

For those that are suggesting that this is a physical security risk, well so is wearing a traditional Rolex or other big name watch brand. In fact, you could argue that it is safer since the amount of Bitcoin that's on it could be nothing, and not worth the hassle of trying to steal. Whereas, criminals know how much that Rolex is on your wrist, and they likely all ready have fences lined up to offload Rolex watches. A bitcoin watch in itself isn't going to be worth much, and as long as the program, and the connection to the watch is secure, then it isn't too risky. If the watch has its private keys on this watch, then that's just silly. It should just have a QR code, and a wallet that can simply operate as a "watch" address. If you did want to incorporate a payment system right off the cuff Wink, then you would approach in similar to how Trezor, and other hardware wallets approach the concept.

Despite that, this isn't something I see taking off. Its gimmicky, and reminds me of the movie "In Time", where you are literally looking at your wealth (or in the movie life remaining) on your wrist.

*snip*

True. But assuming if you own a good sum of bitcoin, I'd argue that wearing such Bitcoin watch could be far devastating than wearing a Rolex. Doing a $5 wrench attack on a bitcoin holder is going to be much more effective than doing such an attack on a typical rich dude because it's going to be far harder to get away with stealing money via bank transfer or something lol compared to a simple bitcoin transaction.

That's something interesting, and to the growing crypto community more and more innovative products are in need for future growth. I see the bitcoin watch to be one such product, maybe in future these watches can play a big role in the process of inheriting bitcoin. The person who receives it will get the access to the entire wallet balance. Till date lots and lots of funds have gone unused as the funds weren't inherited.

If I am not mistaken, the girl in the video isn't really the owner of the watch as it was clipped in the end that she jokes to steal the watch from the owner. Any way, I wonder why they put the QR code of the bitcoin address to the watch, maybe for easier transaction from outside to inside, but this makes the owner of the watch more vulnerable for why? if someone could see the address, they could scan it and see how much bitcoin is inside, it will further attract attention for snatchers to take the watch. Though, for the purpose of transaction, you will not really show your watch to anybody knowing that they will scan it for no reasons.

The watch itself has some outstanding design and I think this one is not that cheap to begin with. of course, it should be own by the whales out there if they want to. but they should not wear this kind of watch every day because as someone says in his post, this could attract criminals to plan how to get his Bitcoin. we are not new to this kind of incidence as we can see there are lots of victims out there who fell to the hands of evil people as soon as they found out that the man has something on his wallet. you can read it here if you don't believe me: https://github.com/jlopp/physical-bitcoin-attacks/blob/master/README.md

The watch is so good, I like the design and the color combination it has but I don't think that it would be safer for you to wear that kind of watch in public, you are inviting snatchers by wearing that kind of watch, it is not that so safe compared to other wallet storage, the watch can be damaged so easily because you are wearing it, we cant say that it is safe on you. If I am holding that kind of money I wouldn't store it in that kind of watch because there are so many cons of using it. A hardware wallet is still the best wallet for me. Do not store your money on your watch, you can wear it but don't store on it.

I don't think that there would be many people who will use etch to store their assets, it would be so risky for you if you are wearing a watch like that, imagine if all people know about bitcoin or know things about that watch, they will become so interested with it, they will try to steal it from you thinking that you have stored all your money on that watch. Snatchers or thieves will focus on you especially if they see you wearing it in public, you shouldn't do that, you have to be careful with all your money, a crypto wallet is really important, better to choose e safest and secured wallet.

The watch seems to be a good idea along the lines of physical coins and other such merchandise that is popular amongst bitcoiners.  The article says that a maximum of 500 of each men's and women's version were to be sold so its kindda exclusive. It comes with a sealed USB that contains the private key. Now, for all the fear about the watch being stolen, they could probably have different addresses for the cold storage and the watch.

In case you want to actually have a payment method from the watch itself, the scan address could be some kind of small LCD surface that can be changed as per user's choice. How hard or feasible would it be to accommodate a small LCD surface is a question for the designers. Though, these days, displays come in all sizes. Any such wearable device shouldn't have a fixed address anyways.

The watches themselves are beautiful. If i was an old crypto hodler with BTC to shell out, I'd buy one. Though with the features i mentioned above.

For those that are suggesting that this is a physical security risk, well so is wearing a traditional Rolex or other big name watch brand.

*snip*

Same, If I'm the culprit I would definitely choose the watch with a QR code in it, cause I know I will not only get the watch itself but the money inside it too. The watch could only be a bonus. Well I don't think I would be able to wear a watch like that outside. I'm just that scared specially having some past experiences. If they could've improve this innovation, or make it somehow safe, it'll be interesting.

Well, I think its a success in promoting the business of the watch creator, or maybe in promoting bitcoin as well. Specially to those who haven't heard of it before.
