Hey team, we're a couple of Industrial designers based out of Wellington NZ. We're big Ledger fans and we've designed a waterproof case to give ourselves some more peace of mind. Here is our website if there is anyone else out there who would like one! Find out more here: https://anomcase.com/

It's a really sleek design, but (no offense) that is a crazy price for a simple waterproof case. You can pick up a Ledger Nano S for $40-50. If I'm worried about water damage, then why would I spend $55 on a waterproof case, when I could buy a second device for cheaper, back my coins up to it, and leave it at home? Not only is a second device cheaper, but having a second device also protects against water damage, fire damage, impact damage, loss, hardware failure, etc. of the first device.
If I really needed a waterproof case, I could buy a generic case from Amazon for less than 10 bucks.

I think $55 is to expensive for aluminium shell, and everyone can have a simple zip plastic bag, or something similar that is waterproof an will have same effect almost for free. We also need to keep our seed words safe from water and fire, and AnomCase is not doing that.

Have a merit point for the effort... it's nice to see people trying to create products/services related to crypto and crypto products... although I suspect, as other have mentioned, the price point might be a bit much for most considering it's basically the same cost as a Nano S and roughly half of a Nano X (before any promo's or discounts).
Best of luck.

I agree Just buy another ledger nano for the same price or less (as there are promotions all the time) and you shouldn't have to worry anymore with water damage. Better than this case... It is a beautiful case, but that's really expensive.

Thanks for all the feedback, I am based in NZ so I think the Ledger products are a bit more expensive here than in the USA. Also, the cost of batch manufacturing here in NZ is costly so that is the reason for the price.
how much would you be willing to pay for something like this?

I don't know how relevant this site is, but price for Nano S is 121 NZD which is around $79, and for me in EU price is around $68, so I don’t consider it too much of a difference. As some others have written, your product is still a little too expensive compared to what it offers - because water protection alone is not enough to keep your hardware wallet safe. To achieve maximum safety we also need protection from fire, chemicals and from destruction by pressure. If I were to go for some kind of protection of this type, then my choice would be something like this -> https://q-reg.de/?product=kopie based on this test/s -> https://blog.lopp.net/metal-bitcoin-seed-storage-stress-test-round-iii/

Snip Not to mention that this only protects the device, but what about the seed which is the actual honey pot? @anom-crypto-case Maybe provide a solution to protect the accompanying recovery sheets as well. There already are various way to do that. I have to agree with the rest of the comments, I find it simply too expensive, and as a user, I would rather pick a novel way to hide my seed and the recover sheet.

What do you mean by this? There's a way to clone your inputs to a second hardware wallet, or are you referring to entering your seed phrase into the second wallet?

I don't follow what you mean by "clone your inputs". I was talking about duplicating your seed phrase on a second hardware device. Doing so means that if one device is damaged, then you can just pick up immediately on your back up device like nothing happened. how much would you be willing to pay for something like this?
Probably not more than 20 bucks. If I'm paying over $50, then I would want it to be fire and shock/impact resistant too. Maybe provide a solution to protect the accompanying recovery sheets as well.
I dont think that's the way to go. Writing your seed on paper and storing it in a protective tube is inferior to just inscribing it directly on to a metal plate.

I'd say $15, and most people won't spend more than $20 on something like this. I guess you should try to reduce your production cost as much as possible without sacrificing too many features, since the purpose itself is limited. Because you're not Apple who can straight up sell a $1000 wheel.

And I would suggest to modify a bit the case itself by adding attachable cord so that one can wear it around his neck..
I don't think it's safe to show off a hardware wallet, even in a case, as a necklace form because thieves know the shape of Ledger devices and that might make the wearer an attractive target for robbery or interrogation of the seed phrase à la $5 wrench attack.

I agree, that's way too much for an aluminum case--and even if it were made out of a heavier, more expensive material, it would still be too much to pay for what it is. You can buy a metal pill case to carry around your medications that's probably 1/3 the size of this Ledger case, and those only cost about $5. Funny, though. I was just browsing Amazon for just this sort of thing, and there really isn't much available. OP, if you reduced the price (significantly) I would be very interested in buying one. I don't think it's safe to show off a hardware wallet, even in a case, as a necklace form because thieves know the shape of Ledger devices and that might make the wearer an attractive target for robbery or interrogation of the seed phrase à la $5 wrench attack.
That's true, but it would be good to have something small to hide a Ledger away safely, or even bury it if you were paranoid enough.

Great idea. Case for Ledger wallet is really needed thing. But price is main issue. When case costs almost same like device, I doubt that many are going to buy it. If you want to sell this case, you should find ways how to reduse production costs. I think $15-$20 would be good price, but I don't know is it possible for you to make such price. I'm a bit surprised that Ledger haven't made something similar themselves, because I'm sure there is enough demand for such things. They rather made clothing line . And I said it multiple times already, but it would be cool if Ledger would make waterproof hardware wallet one day...

Cool but too expensive. My homemade case has the similar design but cost me as low as $0. I have used the original aluminum case (took it from wife) designed to hold small brushes for face makeup, Put a silicone ring between lid and main case to make it waterproof and voila.
Care to share the photograph of your DIY Ledger Case? It's a shame that I still use the box of the Ledger Nano S that I bought on their website. The only thing that protects my Ledger is the foam inside the box.
Suggestion though. Aside from lowering the manufacturing cost, it would be much better to put a foam inside the case to fill the gap of the whole container to make sure that the product is still intact inside the container whenever that Ledger is detached on the lock function at the bottom of the container (based on the clipart on your site). Using Antistatic Packing Peanuts is the best filler that I see in the market when dealing with electronic devices.

Captain-Cryptory, this seems like a very practical and simple home-made solution - have you tested the case and checked that it is 100% water resistant even for a long time (several hours)? What I would still do (if you haven't already), to provide additional protection (from thieves) is for Ledger not to be visible if someone opens the case - there should be something on top which will not attract anyone's attention. I hope you have similar protection for your seed

@Captain-Cryptory, wow, that's nice and cheap way to make case for Ledger wallet. I have very similar LED torch somewhere at home, which doesn't even works. Maybe it's worth to try to make something similar for me, because now I simply keep my wallet in original package. But is it really waterproof? Does this silicone ring really makes case hermetic and protect wallet inside from water?

Someone was also selling similar items via Amazon in the past. They are no longer available now. <snip link>
Yeah, I saw that on Amazon. There's also kind of a neat item whereby you can hide your Ledger, though obviously this isn't anything like what OP is looking for. I also like cases like this, which aren't designed to hold Ledgers specifically but certainly could. Amazon also sells a number of time capsules which are designed to be buried, though they're kind of pricey and have way more room in them than you'd need for just a Ledger (or any hardware wallet for that matter).
