To make things more interesting (or for another toy coin), but keeping it easily minable, one could design a coin which reward decreases with the difficulty.
I mean the difficulty wouldn't make the coin more difficult to find, but it would divide the rewards or something like that.
This way everybody would still get something not matter how large would become the difficulty and the distribution of the reward would be relatively fair. (and still following the same rules as the other coin)
It would make it also "pool resistant" in the sense that there wouldn't be any interest in joining the pool (since it is basically what is already happening on a pool)
It would really totally decentralised (may-be the problem I see would be with forks)

with crowncoin ? Unless you try to mine with the cpu (didn't find any this way) the blocks come pretty easily.
