it would also be nice to have an interview about a member who is just starting to make a name for himself/herself.
Pick one: The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days
I know you said pick one but based on their merit and their activity all around the forum I'd say cryptoaddictchie(although he is already a hero member) and rikafip(a Sr. member) would be a great choice. there several members that have high merit but they are usually only active to one or two boards.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I have already sent a proposal for an interview to several participants. Now is the weekend, maybe I will get answers next week. If the participant agrees, I read his last 100 or more posts and try to pick up a few questions depending on the interests of the user.
It takes time.
If you wish to give an interview yourself, write to me in PM, we will definitely agree.

I like the idea, but I think you should keep the same set of questions for everybody. The only one that seems to be personalised is question 4. The rest could be answered by everyone. If people know what questions are in advance you will probably get more interest as people know what to expect and whether they'd be OK answering them. It will also be interesting to see everybody's answers to the same questions. Maybe people could propose another one or two questions that can be asked.

Having the same set of questions is good and I agree with you that the participants in the interview should answer personalized questions directed to them since not all members here are posting in the same board or doing the same thing on what they are doing in the forum. This allows you to see their perspective on their role in the forum. Having personalized questions for DT members, or Merit Sources, and people active in their local board should also be considered as they definitely have other questions to answer set on their perspective.

I though it was a real interview with LoyceV, like the one on one interview but its not, it was just a questionnaire sent to him to be answered.

It was a great idea tho so we can know some part of their history, opinions and we absolutely know that he's not an AI lol.  I didn't know you guys believed that LoyceV was some sort of AI because of his replies.

Now I wanna see @Lucius answer the interview questions, vote?

I didn't know you guys believed that LoyceV was some sort of AI because of his replies.
There's barely any evidence of that:
I am not sure LoyceV human or machine
I honestly think you are AI  Grin
Another proof that you are an AI .
No human can give merit to 4 different users in one second.
@Loycev or the AI residing in that hat
~users(which is everyone but bots and LoyceV, obviously).
That's it, you're a bot
This made me think again that LoyceV is an AI or human. Shocked
Thank you, Mr. Robot.
Not sure if your AI can sort it itself  Tongue
LoyceV was 1000 times faster than me.
But then again you're AI, you don't have feelings
LoyceV The AI is too busy at the moment Tongue
Haha, LoyceV, you keep confirming that you are AI.
It's because @LoyceV is an AI.
I'm starting to think that LoyceV is a real AI lol Cheesy
You are artificial neural network.
Wait, I thought LoyceV was the AI around here? Maybe in this metaphor, LoyceV is the Matrix and Lauda is The Architect?
I like to use the LoyceV AI capabilities to find the answer of this question.
Great attitude, as always... a little to perfect, AI activated.
I thank you, Mr. AI (LoyceV)

I amazed how LoyceV answered all the questions of OP. I thought that LoyceV is really a serious type of person but when it comes to interview, she has a little bit humor in answering. I like how she replied to questions number 8 and 14. I think she is not interested in trading.

BTW, I would like to nominate the best managers in this forum.

@Hhampus and @yahoo6728

1. How do they became managers of successful projects?

2. How do they found the forum?

We can also try to interview the following persons because I also idolized them when it comes to posting:

You could maybe have the same set of 15 questions for everyone then maybe 5 personalised ones or something. zasad@ said he'll read through the last 100 posts of someone but you can't get an accurate picture of them as a poster just from that, or the posts will be based on those few rather than your entire history. If the questions are different for everyone then one person might get a really good set of questions whilst another might not, or might not want to answer half of them if any at all. Personally I would be fine with the questions in the op but there are certainly questions I wouldn't want to answer or have sprung on me. If the questions are all the same anyone can just write up their answers and either PM op with them or just post them here and the op can link to them. Having a set of the same questions will give you everyone different perspective on them as well. Think of it like the Proust/Pivot questions all the actors used to get asked on Inside the Actor's Studio.

His projects:

Bitcointalk Stats Live Counter
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5241019.0

Let's start

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?

"I had first heard of bitcoin in 2017, when it was too high. I didn't give that much attention to it (Thank God, I would invest). During lockdown (March I think) I wanted to sell an instagram account on a marketing forum, when a member of it asked me if I accept bitcoin. I told him no because I didn't know how it's working. When I started reading the whitepaper I said to myself, -Oh boy, that's a new chapter to your life. The whole idea, I liked it. So I was very interested. If you search my posts, you will see many questions started by me of how bitcoin works. I think I had messed up some things back then, I was trying to connect the dots. Now I am aware of what is bitcoin, and that's important. People invest into something they don't even understand sometimes."

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?

"If you mean 1 entire bitcoin, never. I didn't want to buy bitcoin, but due to some problems I had with paypal, I bought some. I considered it gamble, but I had no other option then. This happened after I fully understand the bitcoin enviroment. Imagine that I saved my funds on a cold storage and I'm hodling them right now."

3. How did you get on the forum?

"Nice question! From the marketing forum I mentioned above, I was reading a topic called "Your favourite site" in the off topic section. Many said facebook, youtube, instagram, blablabla, but there was a guy who replied with "bitcointalk.org for sure" and he made me curious. I created my account here and yes, I didn't regret it."

4. I've seen your Bitcointalk Stats Live project, do you plan on adding new useful things to the forum?

"Well, I'm upgrading as much as I can. I don't have permission to many things, so this is my best. Of course if you want to suggest anything, I will take it into consideration."

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?

"The current merit system is simply perfect. Everyone is trying to create useful posts in order to gain new merits. If a member has 1000 posts and 10 merits, it is clearly that this member looks scammy. Merits also help if you want to buy cryptos from a forum member. I trusted a guy with 500+ merits without knowing him, and he successfully traded with me without frauds. Of course, this isn't the canon.

Now about the signatures thing, I see some issues. Signature campaigns pay per post. I see that it doesn't matter if the post is a quality post. Thus, many members see this place as a money machine and simply spam so they have a profit. I've seen topics started by those people, that their content don't fit with the title. Or topics that misunderstand, like "How bitcoin works?" and he/she starts explaining how bitcoin works... on the bitcoin forum. Again this isn't the canon, most of the bounty hunters of this place make high quality posts.

Now if they harm the forum... No they don't. If the Admins would force members to have them, they may harmed it. But since we have the option to disable all signatures, then peace my friends."

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?

"Most useful forum topic... Hmm. Like the one that helped me the most or the one that I really enjoyed reading it? Because both were useful.
Helpful: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?)
Enjoyed reading it: Satoshi's lesson

Most helpful users in my opinion are surely those:
@LoyceV, @pooya87, @mocacinno, @Vod, @ETFBitcoin, @o_e_l_e_o, @suchmoon. Admins and mods too. Especially this guy: @satoshi  "

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

"The first one would be to have a better quote system. Maybe multiquote. But the one we have right now is too tiring for replying, so I would surely change it. Secondly I would decrease the VIP role's price. It costs 50 bitcoins right now... The VIP members bought it when bitcoin's value was too low... And I'm sure they have regret it. The third thing I would implement is to remove some forum limits. You can't make many searches per second (except the google ones), there is no online activity in the main page. This happens because they overload the server. I think that the VIP donations could cover financially this part."

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?

"I don't trade no, I only hodl. No investments on other cryptocurrencies. I only believe in bitcoin. Does anybody talk about the 2nd guy that stepped on the moon? This is how I see it. Also, many new projects are having ponzi scheme. So most of these shitcoins fall to 0$."

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?

"I don't have to tell you a story like that. Not in bitcoin neither in fiat."

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

"DEFI ecosystem is something new, that will take some years to be more widespread, and that's another thing bitcoin started. I don't know if it existed before, likely it did, but bitcoin inspired many to learn what it is. Fortunately or unfortunately, it is something that no one can control it. But it is sure that it'll make the human freer."

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?

"I'm not Satoshi Nakamoto, but sometimes yes, I don't want anyone to know me. Not vital tho. I can live without it."

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?

" "The Bitcoin Standard". It is the only cryptocurrency book I've ever read. I liked it, because I had some questions about bitcoin value. After I solved every question I've had, I didn't find a reason to read another one. I have heard the best for "Mastering Bitcoin" too. "

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?

" Hmm. Bitcoin, ethereum, monero. All of them have a different technology behind. I see other cryptos as the same blockchain type, so I wouldn't invest them.
Bitcoin, because it's bitcoin.
Ethereum, because it isn't only a currency but an entire technology behind.
Monero, because no one will ever catch you (as far as I know privacy matters for monero). Also black markets have benefits using it. So it may go up. "

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?

"I have no damn clue. Let's say that it will reach 20.000$. I will visit the thread in 01/01/2021 to check my prediction  Wink  "

Thanks to BlackHatCoiner for the interview!

The end.

Vod owns Bpip. He must qualify to be interviewed. His BPIP seems one of the useful projects too I think its older than LoyceV project.

If you want to interview people who have been developing projects related to bitcointalk, you might also be interested to interview those who created their own crypto forum but are also a member here.

Comrades, thank you all for your advice, I am working.
I made a spreadsheet, so as not to get confused

1. An interview is not an interrogation. You can choose not to answer the questions, or simply evade the question.
2. I will never ask questions that will disclose your personal information.
3. the List of main questions is formed. Depending on the user's popularity, I will add 1-5 questions or more.

Thanks to everyone who agreed.
It would be great to get a "no" answer instead of silence.

Nice idea zasad. I am out of merits else I would surely merit this thread. It was really nice to read LoyceV's answers. He's a master of words and nailed it here too. Would love to see answers of more bitcointalk members here in future. Thread added to 'watchlist'!

-Active Bounty Hunter
Finding a successful bounty hunter in 2020 is quite a complex task as many have become inactive or have amassed quite a good wealth in 2017 and just left this forum. I have read various success stories of bounty hunters earning $100,000 for just spamming the forum redundantly with useless shitposts and fake translation. At the end of 2017, when there were a few talks that failure of an ICO is impossible and as a result almost every scamcoin has reached its peak.

When we joined the forum at the beginning of 2018, ICOs were indeed paying few thousands of dollars every week for spamming and it was surprising to read that bounty hunters quitting their jobs to join bounties as bounties seemed to be a lot more profitable heaven!  Grin I was following a few popular legendary/hero bounty hunters who were spamming the twitter and facebook report section till the end of 2019 and once when the ICO markets started noticing higher downtrends they disappeared altogether.  Cheesy

-Active Collector (Physical Coins)
May be interviewing minerjones or krogothmanhattan would be interesting. Both seem to posses a great deal of knowledge towards collectibles and have contributed a lot for the collectibles section of the forum.

What if they're just too busy posting their Twitter reports to answer a bunch of questions? After all, bounty hunters do have their other 41 accounts to attend to in the day... they can't spend all their time actually contributing to a forum! That would be like pretending that Bitcointalk isn't just a job! After all, we all know that this is the perfect place to earn money, right? Super secure positions here, guaranteed.

You should consider maybe expanding the what was "the last cryptocurrency book you read?" question. Can't imagine there's many books on crypto and the likelihood of people having read one is even lower (I know I haven't). Maybe you could change it to encompass more crypto media, like what was the last crypto book/film/documentary/website or youtube channel you watched/read/visited or whatever.

Foxpup (Legendary)

Founder of the Merit Cycling Club

Let's start

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?

" Late 2011. I think it was an article about the Silk Road that first drew my attention to Bitcoin, and I realised that it could potentially solve a lot of problems in e-commerce, if it became more widely used outside the criminal world."

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?

"Early 2012, when the price was just a few bucks. Naturally I didn't jump on Bitcoin immediately after I heard of it; I did a little research first (including on how to buy it in the first place, since this was before there were any true exchanges in Australia)."

3. How did you get on the forum?

"Google, though I mostly use DuckDuckGo now."

4. You rent an avatar from LoyceV. An interesting way to spend bitcoins. Why are you doing this? How much would you pay to rent my avatar Smiley  Grin ?

"I rented LoyceV's avatar mainly to prevent anyone else from renting it, while also playing into the conspiracy theory that the merit system is controlled by a handful of "merit cyclers" who only give merit to each other instead of people less deserving. It was originally meant as just a little joke but it ended up getting way out of hand.

The Merit Cycling Club is not currently accepting new members. Sorry. Tongue  "

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?

"I was on the forum since before signature campaigns existed, so I can say from first-hand experience that they have caused massive harm to the forum from which I doubt it will ever fully recover. The merit system has helped, but not as much as one would hope."

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?

"I think the unofficial list of rules is pretty useful, or at least it would useful for more people to read it. More seriously, there's still some useful topics in Development & Technical Discussion and Bitcoin Technical Support, though even those sections have not totally escaped the signature spamming that has rendered most of the rest of the forum all but useless for serious discussion.

The most helpful users would be gmaxwell, achow101, o_e_l_e_o, LoyceV, suchmoon, Vod, The Pharmacist, and of course Lauda. Kiss   "

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

"1. Bring back Ignore button highlighting. The Ignore button used to be highlighted on users who were frequently ignored, which made trolls easier to identify.
2. Introduce a "Banned" rank. This is standard on most other forums, and I don't really understand the reasons for not doing it here.
3. Ban all signature and avatar campaigns (yes, including mine). This is probably the only forum in existence where being paid to post is permitted. The result, I feel, only serves to demonstrate just why all other forums prohibit it.  "

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?

"I mostly just buy and sell Bitcoin."

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?

" I'm embarrassed to admit that I did lose a fair bit to the Playtin casino exit scam way back in 2014. There were a lot of shady operators back then, but this one appeared on the surface to be one of the least shady among them. There were no real indications at all it was a scam except for being based in an African country I had never heard of before (which, in hindsight, was a pretty major red flag). As is often the case with exit scams, it was actually a fairly decent casino until they halted all withdrawals, went offline, and absconded with everyone's money. Sad No matter; I can afford to write off a few "educational expenses".  "

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

"Is that an Ethereum thing? Because my antipathy for all things Ethereum-based is well known:
Ethereum tokens are an especially sad case, being failed projects built inside of another failed project, like a Matryoshka doll of failure.
 "

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?

"Yeah, about that... As a gender-nonconforming furry pornographer with controversial opinions on a forum with a large right-wing nutjob userbase known for doxxing anyone who gains sufficient notoriety, I expect my life insurance underwriter would say "yes". Also I'm wealthy enough to be a target of all manner of thieves, scammers, and extortionists, but it's mostly just the first one, since I'm inclined to agree with the Red Cross when they say I can't put a monetary price on my blood. Undecided  "

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?

"I honestly forget. It was one of the ones about Bitcoin that was full of elementary information being presented as revolutionary even though it was long obsolete by the time it was published (which probably doesn't narrow it down much). This is why I tend not to read books on recent trends. "

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?

" Bitcoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin. Accept no substitutes. "

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?

"Just over US$10,000, assuming the Novikov self-consistency principle holds and I'm not changing the future by talking about it. Tongue  "

Thanks to Foxpup for the interview!

The end.

The Pharmacist (Legendary)

Member of the Merit Cycling Club

Let's start

1.When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?

"     I think I’ve written this in a few of my older posts, but bitcoin first came onto my radar right around the time the Mt. Gox debacle was happening.  The price was going haywire, and of course as a result it made the news.  I had no idea what a cryptocurrency was and thought bitcoin was akin to Flooz from the late 90s/early 2000s.  That was some weird form of money that was to be used solely on the internet—and since there was no need for such a thing, it quickly fizzled out.  So in 2013/14 I just figured bitcoin would follow the same trajectory and that anyone who bought it would lose everything.
I kept following bitcoin’s progress throughout the Mt. Gox episode, and I remember being surprised that it hadn’t gone to zero.  So I did a little research into what makes bitcoin different from something like Flooz and realized there was something a bit special about it."

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?

"     When I finally came to terms with the fact that bitcoin was not some kind of scam, I started seeing its potential as an investment (though I didn’t think then and don’t now think that it’s a great currency).  The technical aspects of it still perplexed me, since I don’t have a background in computers or cryptography, but I finally figured out how to send and receive bitcoin by playing around with faucets.  I fondly remember one called Land of Bitcoin which I don’t think still exists.
My first actual purchase of bitcoin was a small amount on Coinbase in 2015, probably March or so, and I think the price of bitcoin was around $350.  And man, I wish I still had all the bitcoin I bought at those low prices."

3. How did you get on the forum?

"I discovered bitcointalk when I was following the progress of bitcoin, back in 2013 or ’14 when I was still very much skeptical of crypto’s legitimacy.  A lot of Google searches turned up results linking to forum posts, so I spent a lot of time reading stuff here.  One of the first things I noticed was that there was a lot of drama going on, and a lot of scams.  Another thing was that the forum was extremely lenient as to what you’re allowed to post.  Other discussion forums I’ve been members of barely tolerate disagreements, much less full-on rage fests laced with profanity.  That appealed to me greatly, the freedom to essentially say what you want without having your posts moderated into oblivion.
I lurked on the forum for at least a year before I finally created an account, and since my technical knowledge of bitcoin wasn’t anywhere near that possessed by the majority of members here, I did a bit of mild trolling at first and I don’t think a lot of my early posts had much to do with bitcoin (lol).  Though I didn’t know what a signature campaign actually was when I registered, I could easily see the result of their existence—a lot of what I read sounded like it was written by a robot or a complete moron, and it was clear that there wasn’t much back-and-forth discussion going on, just members making near-incomprehensible statements….you know what I’m talking about, because we still have that going on in 2020."

4. You actively participate in the discussion of reputation issues on the forum. In your opinion, is the DT system fair or has flaws?

"     Bitcointalk’s trust system is unlike anything I’ve seen on other forums, and yes it’s got plenty of flaws.  One of the biggest flaws IMO is that nobody is held accountable for the feedback they leave, since trust isn’t moderated and members are allowed to leave feedbacks regardless of whether what they’re writing is the truth or not.  I’ve never liked the trust system, but it’s become apparent to me over the years that Theymos isn’t too keen on making huge changes to it.
As far as the DT system goes, I tend to think it worked better before it became a rotating list—but even then, there have been abuses and all sorts of shenanigans that have gone on, involving DT members (not to mention all the drama).  Frankly, I’d be completely fine if Theymos scrapped the DT system altogether."

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?

"   Those are two separate questions.  As far as the merit system goes, I’m a strong supporter of it and was relieved when it was introduced in 2018.  The problems of spam, account farming, sales, and whatnot had gotten completely out of control by January of that year, and while there was a lot of discussion about how to combat all that crap, there weren’t any good tools to use in that fight.  Actmyname and I were tagging shitposters in the months before the introduction of the merit system, but it wasn’t a good use of the trust system and was frowned upon by Theymos.  The merit system has done a fantastic job of making it extremely hard for accounts to be farmed, since climbing the rank ladder is now dependent on earned merits—and for the average bitcointalk member it’s very hard to earn merits unless their posts are above average.
Regarding signature campaigns:  I used to be staunchly against them, but after a while I did join one as I figured I might as well earn a few satoshis by doing what I was going to be dong anyway.  Unfortunately, that isn’t the mindset of the average bitcointalk member.  I’ve long had the impression that the majority of members are here for the sole purpose of earning through campaigns/bounties.  That might not be such a problem if all campaign managers had high standards regarding the quality of their participants’ posts, but that most certainly is not the case.  And the net result of that is you’ll see tons of posts that don’t really say anything and are stretched out to 75-100 characters just so the post will count for the campaign.
Campaigns are also significantly responsible for the plagiarism problem we have on the forum.  Many campaigns only pay for posts in English, and a lot of the “professional campaigners” hail from countries where English isn’t spoken, and there they have a dilemma—and often how they solve it is to copy content from the internet verbatim or use a word-spinning script or whatever, and it’s a plague nowadays.
Despite all the negatives surrounding campaigns and bounties, I do think they help people gain some interest in crypto, and they also contribute to the bitcoin economy even if it’s in a small way.  In addition, there are some very poor people who can earn far more money in a campaign than they could anywhere else.  That’s an excellent thing (though I wish they didn’t contribute to the shitposting problem as much as I estimate they do).  I have no idea how long campaigns are going to exist for, but I’m not hoping they disappear anytime soon. "

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?

"  Topic?  I don’t have a good answer for that.  But there are a number of members who are extremely helpful.  Jet Cash is the first person who comes to mind, and I base that on all the work he was trying to do to help new members improve their English.  Some of his ideas fizzled out pretty quickly, but he put a lot of effort into helping newbies without asking anything in return.
As I said, there are a ton of helpful members, and I don’t want to list names in case I inadvertently forget some and give the impression that I don’t appreciate them. "

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

"1.   Ban known scammers like all other forums do.
2.   Restructure the ranking system to perhaps increase the number of ranks and create some higher than Legendary.
3.   Impose more restrictions on newbies, and there have been a lot of good suggestions made over the last few years that apparently fell on deaf ears at the top.  It’s an unfortunate truth that most of the garbage posts originate from members who’ve been referred to bitcointalk by friends/relatives/coworkers as a place to earn easy money just by writing posts.  The merit system was a fantastic idea, but I think there’s still a few things that could be done to make it harder for newbies to use the forum as shitposting gig. "

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?

" Invest in projects?  Hell no!  I assume you mean ICOs and the like, and I have a very dim view of that entire space.
As far as trading goes, I’ve dabbled in it here and there, but I’ve found the markets to be way to unpredictable and volatile to seriously engage in trading. "

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?

" Sadly, I don’t have any stories to relate about either.  I never made real profits with bitcoin or altcoins, nor did I lose much.  I don’t day trade crypto, which I know is a very popular activity amongst forumites and assorted cryptocurrency enthusiasts.  If there’s a gambling gene, I’m pretty sure it’s missing from my chromosomes. "

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

" Nothing, since I don’t even know what that is (though I’ve heard the terms mentioned on the forum). "

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?

" Since I don’t think I could remain completely anonymous even if I tried my hardest, it’s definitely not a vital necessity.  It’s not even all that important to me as far as bitcoin goes, but it is one of the features of crypto that I do like. "

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?

"  The one and only book about crypto that I’ve read was Digital Gold by Nathaniel Popper, and it was fascinating. "

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?

"  Eh.  Off the top of my head:  NEO, Neblio, and Tezos.  There are so many, though, and I’m not confident any of them are going to perform any better than bitcoin.  Nor do I think altcoins/tokens are ever going to find a real-world use that would cause the average Joe on the street to want to buy any of them—and if no one buys them, they’re probably not going to be good investments. "

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?

"  $9750.  My guess is as good as anyone else’s."
