As a newbie and perhaps, a few of you who might have grown in rank, this field is for you. Clearly there is a lot of topics and a lot more keep coming up everyday but, I've got questions too to ask on the some of the difficulty I face which some of you might be facing too about navigating this forum. You can't go ahead and ask whatever question you like under any topic, it seems out of context and so, you just don't know whom or where to ask. Hence your stock!
Well this field is to do justice to that. To ask and answer questions that just might not apply to most topics on the page and get answers from experienced pros.
Here are a few that have been bothering me;

1. If I want to quote a particular part, just a portion of concern from a forum members post, how do I go about it?
2. If I did create a topic and maybe posted it in the wrong field for example, I started a topic in the off-topic section instead of the Beginners & help section. How do I go about correcting that?

More questions would I ask as I encounter any difficulty.
Hope someone says something soon. Thanks.

1. You can just click quote and delete the text you don't want to appear in your quote.

2. On the bottom left of this thread you'll see a "move link" which can be used to move a topic. Alternatively, if you forget you can ask on your thread how to move it or report the thread and as a mod to move it.

Well said in simple terms and explanation. Unfortunately, I need all the text in this one but, I'll experiment them soon. Very helpful.

He already answered all of your questions, if you want to quote someone's reply, just do what he had said, just choose the highlights of his post and you may remove some supporting details. Just choose the specific line that you want to quote.

We also have here what we called the multi quoting, which happens when you reply on a certain topic then find other posts or reply and quote it, copy the whole text and then paste it on your first reply. You shouldn't submit your first post wait for your second quote and then you have to include it to your first post and then submit it.
This might help you a little bit to your trouble when posting or quoting someones' reply.

Good advise, I have visited that thread once before and that is really helpful for me. OP you should have time to read it so you will have any ideas on how to make well posts.

Number one is highly recommended, you don't have to quote the whole post if you are just going to answer or address a certain portion of it
just delete part of the post that is not relevant to your answer.

On number two even high-rank members made a mistake of classifying his posts so everyone should be aware of the move link option of the thread

Well said in simple terms and explanation. Unfortunately, I need all the text in this one but, I'll experiment them soon. Very helpful.

Is the text very lengthy? If it's from an individual, it's still acceptable but the moment it encompasses every previous member that quoted one another, then we'll have another troublesome pyramid.

After all, we could just click on the quote hyperlink and it'd bring us to that post. So the code below to do all the magic work is based on your post #3.

OR

Code:
You can just use [quote] at the beginning of your sentence and at the end use[/quote].

If you do not see move link as sometimes it does not appear then just create an new topic on the correct thread and leave a reply on the old thread that the topic has been shifted with the link to the new topic thread.

I have my advice for you (you can ignore it if you don't like).
  • Above paragraph is lack of a topic sentence that describe your key points. It is a personal style but I would like to start with a topic sentence, after that expand my ideas with more supplementary sentences and ideas.
  • The current topic title is another bad one: No one can understand which questions you want to ask for.
To do it better, you can read:

There is no such thing as a bad advice if you can understand it from the advisers perspective, no one can be too right or absolutely wrong. I can't put words in your mouth and expect you to say them the way I would love to hear it. No, not at all. We learn everyday and I believe, you just taught me something on article/content creation and if I practice it, it will surely improve my post quality so yes. Your advice is most welcome and thanks for giving it.

If you do not see move link as sometimes it does not appear then just create an new topic on the correct thread and leave a reply on the old thread that the topic has been shifted with the link to the new topic thread.

You're better off reporting a thread to a moderator at this point unless you can lock your thread (found in the same place as move) but I haven't seen it without the two together so it might be if the move button is gone then so is the lock.
