In this pandemic, people are getting blinded when they say they will be giving money. Yesterday my cousin was scammed for winning a raffle sending the scammer &18-$19. I told her it was a scam but she is not listening.

Anyway I've been thinking that this is a hacking incident, right? Also a fraud but can we still say this is a scam too? When I told my co teacher he immediately say scam so I was really confused now if this is a hack/fraud incident or a hack/scam incident, maybe hack/fraud/scam incident? Anyone?

Whenever something is given free, we need to know on what basis its been given. For example something is given as a compliment on some purchase it doesn't mean it is free. Indirectly we'll paying for it. Here the consumers are happy about the compliment while the seller is happy with added revenue. With bitcoin giveaway same is happening, the scammers just to make people happy term it a giveaway and the common users fall for it. Finally only the scammer feels happy. Cheesy

Too good to be true. Unfortunately, many people are tempted by this bait, moreover, we are all in a difficult situation, so when there is a tantalizing offer it will be immediately taken without thinking of the risks.
I found a lot of invitations to invest with the lure of thousands of dollars in a wallet, it is suspicious, even if there are people who can get it the easy way, surely he will not be as easy as that revealing his secrets and inviting others to follow the trail, it's a trap. As you explained, we must analyze the background of the reward, check on the official account of the project or company listed (if any). And the most important thing is not to trust anything easily, especially if the investment offer or airdrop requires you to send some funds, it's a scam.

Everything in this world has a price, don't believe in free money. Because there is no such thing, even though there is a percentage
approaching to zero. So stop dreaming of getting free money or instant money, working hard to get money is a reality that we have to do.
Educate yourself so you can think rationally, and never be interested in rewards to be good to true. Classic advice but proven effective.

My cousin was scammed yesterday, and I realized something.

They are not greedy. With the pandemic happening, people are actually having a hard time earning money since they are just in their houses for quarantine. A lot of people are giving their own ways to help and there are those people that really needed it. I know most of us will not fall for this, but not all of us are greedy, there are those that really needed it.

1. If you are feeling desperation then do not take the giveaway because you are clearly not thinking right, scammers in this time feed on people being desperate to earn extra.

2. Always remember that no person in their right mind would give away their bitcoin, remember that bitcoin is circulating and they can't be made out of thin air(metaphorically).

3. Check the comment section if there is any because it will give you some clue, if there aren't any then you have a red flag, if most of the comments that you see is always a positive, have doubts because they might be bots.

4. Don't think with your heart when it comes to finances, think with rationality, there is a reason that the brain is higher than the heart, emotions can cloud judgement so when you ever stumble across this give away scams, do not be joyful, investigate the premises and have common sense.

Don't look for free money there is no such thing exists here, all we need to do is just have to earn our own money and it is possible of many ways that is how those people got rich not by participating on any giveaways.Be smart enough to smell the scams in the twitter hack its very easier though but still millions of dollars were send to that address and now everything gone.

Remember what they say, there is no such thing as free lunch. I think that people are often very naive and not aware they can easy become a scam victims.
To my opinion the key for that is education and awarness, everyone needs to learn how to protect himself online because that has because our new reality
I don't fall for any offers, don't click on links in emails sent from unknown persons and don't believe that someone will give me something for nothing.

All you need is just to simply educate yourself.
Crypto is a place where the risk is high due to the lack of regulation, and if you are following the trend, a lot of people complain they lose money but most of them are newbies who enter into the market thinking that making money is very easy, but they were wrong because they got scam instead.

With continues education, I don't think we will fall for a scam, we will even know how to protect ourselves or our accounts from these scammers.

As long as we know they exist, we will know what measures we will do.

I think that's the thing most people forget about or at least isn't educated about. I think the most important factor that affects scamming is the fact that people is lacking knowledge in computers, cyber security, internet, and most importantly investment as ignorants still think that there is free money in the internet.

Exactly, there's no need to force ourselves to be in crypto if we can't even understand the basic.

Knowledge is very important, like people say, invest when you understand what you are investing, so with that, we can assure there's a risk and we can only minimize that risk if we have the knowledge. Well, hopefully they will learn from their mistakes as this market won't grow if the scammers will continue to penetrate and successful on what they are doing.

they are aimed at the greed of some people, for those who use the market for a long time will know it's a scam, new people often aren't aware enough, yes, nothing is free

That’s right nothing is free but most of the people easy to get of this amid giveaways spreading. The way that we could protect ourselves is never join if we don't understand about crypto. It is very true what others said to learn about crypto so we could understand and can avoid these frauds.

Free money is actually a thing in the airdrops where you can make a fortune, only you have to participate and do some minute tasks, a couple years back airdrop hunting used to be pretty decent job just like what bounty hunters used to do. But now participants have increased and the amount of the rewards is decreased, so it isn't worth it any more. But talking about bitcoin giveaways, they aren't real no more, even the faucets are giving pretty less amount of bitcoins in a single turn so how can you expect someone so generous on the internet to send you free money you just have to send them only your bitcoin address!! Doesn't feel right, right??

The Twitter case was a bold attack by these ill-intentioned hackers. They discovered a vulnerability and agreed to execute their plan. This is an apprenticeship for the community to be able to recognize that something is wrong and to report abuse.

We also need to improve our security as netizens. It is a priority for developers to build more robust and secure applications on the internet.

No one will give you free money, not even Bill Gates. If it sounds too sweet, then it's certainly not true, especially in cyberspace.
Not all but there are free money also that we can receive. Charity is giving free money, programs of the government and contests in social media. In fact, it is the trend nowadays, vloggers are givingaway fiat to their viewers who can guess their game. However, it is really different in crypto space why? Because in this industry, 80% of strangers are scammers. We should not easily encourage by their sweet words. If we want to avoid frauds and scamming, we should not engage in rich quick scheme and having a research in a project is our edges in scammers.

The perpetrators may launch social-based attacks (social engineering) against Twitter employees. Hackers access Twitter's internal systems and devices, and thus successfully tweet the Bitcoin giveaway.
For example the Kanye West account which was also hacked. The famous US musician is "tweeting" he will duplicate the Bitcoin sent to his Bitcoin address. With common logic, it is unlikely that anyone would give free money in the form of Bitcoin, without any veiled intentions.
Yep you’re right about that, no one is ready to give you free money, I just don’t know why people are falling for these type of scams. Is it that they don’t know that people like Bill Gates no matter how rich they are, they cannot just wake up in a day and come online and start giving out free money, that doesn’t happen. And the worst part of it all is that people were dumb enough to the extent that they were all told to send money to those addresses to be doubled and they agreed to send money Sad. It’s time for everyone to wise up and stop falling these well-planned scams.

The reason why I am calling it a well planned scam is, scammer were making use of 3 things: covid19-High level people's twitter account-bitcoin. If they missed any one of above three, then thy may not be able to achieve what they have planned initially. Victims might have believed that due to pandemic, big people are sharing their wealth and for knowing our addy and how desperate they need money, they might have assumed about that "doubling" part.

I think the thing you need to protect yourself from bitcoin or any other online fraudulent is the "Common Sense". You know that money is a valuable thing. No body will give you free money, not even the richest person of the world. If you don't have the common sense of understand this easy matter than I'm sorry you will be scammed again and again. I also suggest you to share with your friends about this awareness so they also not get scammed. And don't share any private information with anyone and don't click any unknown link come through email or dm.

Nowadays fraud by giving double bitcoin when you send some bitcoin is happening more and more. starting from live streaming on YouTube, advertisements that are scattered everywhere by giving unreasonable giveaway and others. Twitter became the latest news about official accounts that were hacked and posted a double bitcoin award. For ordinary people they will believe because those who make the status are influential people with a blue check, of course many will send bitcoin at the address given. Hackers who hack on Twitter get a lot of BTC from what they do. This is the latest event that made many people fooled. There is no free bitcoin, there is no free money, although the official posting is that you need to be aware.

Deception in the guise of Bitcoin is spreading. The most recent and most extensive case is through hacking of a number of famous celebrity Twitter accounts on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Hackers offer a Bitcoin giveaway from those accounts. So, what are some ways to protect yourself from this mode of crime?

Probably you just need knowledge and experience in bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and investment.

When you already have this thing it will lower your chances of getting scam and probably you will never get scam again. Your right no one is going to give you free money there are probably things that you need to do in order to earn a profit, so if something is sketchy about an investment like this giveaway it was probably a trap and don't fall to it.

Just don't be greedy. Remember one thing, "Nothing is free in this world"

This is the best way to protect yourself from Fraudulent giveway.

There are a lot of investors who thinks that money is easy to earn especially cryptocurrency because there are a lot of giveaways that are circulating in the internet. They just don't know that those are fake and that will just cost them to lose some amount of their bitcoin. Just like in Youtube, most of the people are being fooled by the scammers because they are using famous platforms where people always spend their time with. Also newbies are the one who are most prone in the bitcoin fake giveaways because they think that it is real when they see huge amounts of money from a so-called true organizers.

No one will give you free money, not even Bill Gates. If it sounds too sweet, then it's certainly not true, especially in cyberspace.

Yes, there were lots of examples like these ones in 2017-2018, when there were so many airdrops, and ICOs, and in those amount of enormous offers the bounty hunters might be lost and only logic and common sense prevented lots of people from frauds of such kind. Very often such celebrities' accounts even are not hacked, but they just differ on one letter or symbol from the original account. I met some weeks ago 4 accounts of TrustWallet in Twitter like that, they were fake and gave some tokens via airdrop. The most important is to be very attentive and think twice before acting.
