Let's start with the basics:
1. Are you sure your Electrum was downloaded from electrum.org ?
2. Do you have the latest version?
3. Is your Electrum connected (bottom-right big green dot)?

What is version of Electrum do you use? Older version of Electrum usually unable or having difficulty connect to Electrum server
Yes, I tried this and it seems you can't proceed in any transactions you want (sending transaction) there's always popping up a message that you need to update your Electrum wallet to the newest version.

If you want to update, directly go to the official website of Electrum, not on the popup message that shows you need to update your wallet. The current version is 4.0.2, if you are outdated make it sure that you already updated and of course make it sure too that you have back up of everything.

3. Is your Electrum connected (bottom-right big green dot)?
Common problem probably didn't snycronize to the node. You need to do is click the refresh button.

hello, I tried to make a post but I am new to this community, hope somebody gentle is out there to help me.

i made a transaction today morning at 00:01 from my electrum wallet to bitfinex address, everything went good until electrum asked me to dowload the newest update for electrum otherwise I could not do the transaction.

so I did...  Undecided

after making the update a new Icon was on my desktop, I enter with my same password and as soon as I get on my wallet, the transaction was already done.

I am worried because in the past the transactions I did were made on the very next day. This time not....

So then I emailed bitfinex-support and they told me the address i put on the transaction does not fit with any of mine on bitfinex.

Please let there be someone out there that can help me.

greetings

Josefmarcelo

You have downloaded a fake version of Electrum. Old versions are vulnerable to phishing which tricks users into downloading a malicious version (you can read more about it here). Sorry, but you have lost your money. You should have checked the official website for up-to-date information.

~snip~

I'm sorry to tell you but  BitCryptex is right you've been downloaded a fake Electrum.

Can you publicly post the Bitcoin address from your Electrum here(The one that has balance before) and maybe your Bitcoin still there.
I just need to check your Bitcoin address on explorer if your Bitcoin is already transferred to someone or not.

Let's hope that it didn't but if it's already sent well there's no way to recover your Bitcoin back. However, if your Bitcoin still there you can recover them just make sure that you have the recovery seed backup.

@josefmarcelo

Since you didn't update electrum for more than a year, and have malware on your PC, it might be worth to consider formatting your hard drive.
Backing up important data, and formatting the drive to install a fresh OS (no outdated or cracked one) already makes you more secure.

For the future, you might want to check electrum's website regularly for updates and learn how to verify the PGP signature. Only the legit version of electrum will be correctly signed.
