I know it is China, but it seems that the ruling elite in China have joined with the dynasties controlling the western world, so maybe this callous destruction will be another political export to our countries.

It seems that they are opening the flood gates to drown villages and farms near the overloaded dams. This is causing an increase in death, and a considerable loss of food. The CCP praises the villagers for sacrificing their lives and homes to save the cities. They don't have much choice, as they are not given much notice, and it is often done at night.

The ruling dynasties have no regard for life and health, and we can see this from the way a minor virus was elevated to the status of invasion by aliens.

@Jet Cash these days I’m not at all surprised about what China’s does, because they gave all the power to XI and now no one can challenge his authority. Also in my personal opinion XI has no sympathy for his citizens, and further it’s really sad that because of his attitude so many villagers have lost their lands and their life’s.

It is now hard to see Xi Jinping being challenged in any way whatsoever.
He has amassed power the likes of which has not been seen since Chairman Mao Zedong.

There has been no national debate as to whether a leader should be allowed to stay on for as long as they choose. Quietly but surely Xi Jinping has changed the way his country is governed, with himself well and truly at the core.

Besides, they'll probably call all those deaths, Covid deaths, in the future.

There are similar apprehensions on the Indian side of the border regarding the Chinese damming cross border rivers, especially tsangpo or the Brahmputra which is a mighty river and cause devastating floods displacing nearly 2 million people every year.

Chinese now control three flow to quite an extent and can wreck havoc to the riparian cities

I appreciate the sources here, was going to ask for it from JetCash.

I don't think anyone, at this point, is surprised by anything that China does these days. China is a plague onto the world, and everyone knows it. China is a nation which exploits their own people, has a dictatorship, literally has people in concentration camps, and so on and so forth.

China is a horrible nation, none of us should be surprised by the horrible things that they do every single day while politicians across the globe let them get away with it.

There is a damn that is very close to failing (the three georges damn). If it fails, 1/3 of the population of China is in cities downstream from this damn. The Three Georges damn failing, especially if it collapses verses getting overflowed, would make the death toll caused by the coronavirus look like nothing.

China is likely trying to avoid the Three Georges from failing. In the process, they appear to be harming their food supply, which will make them be less aggressive against other countries, such as the US as China will need to depend on the rest of the world for food.

It's such an atrocious move, China are prioritizing their economy and development over the lives and shelter of it's citizens, there is prolly still more to be experiencd by Chinese citizens and those indebted to them through debts as they go about doing everything possible to see they are the number one country in the world, even at the cost of a war and lives inevitably.
China is a horrible nation, none of us should be surprised by the horrible things that they do every single day while politicians across the globe let them get away with it.
The U.S in my opinion is only one of the few countries that have all the powers in their favor to challenge dictatorial China, and they are doing just that and I expect more fiercer actions from them in years to come, India btw have also cut off ties with China, the problem as you and I know is the strength China possesses, for example they have bought over quite a lot of third world countries by lending to them with weird repayment clauses, and they know most of this countries would fail to meet up with repayment. That being said; I'm very sure many countries will want to stand up and challenge China, but only a few can.

Has been talk of this for about a month..

The construction of the damn was supposed to be a major accomplishment of the CCP. They had to displace millions just to construct the damn. The symbolism of it failing would be that communism (Democrats) is not how to run society.

The death from the damn failing would be huge. The CCP has a very strong grip on their people, but I am curious how they would respond to the tens, if not hundreds of millions dead due to CCP incompetence.

My bet is they would blame it on a terrorist attack or another country attacking them like possibly the USA..

I don't think they'll need to do that much, they can simply ignore those or hide the data... They are a very competent authoritarian state and good at hiding figures...

Maybe coronavirus was made in China.
China has for many years ago an overpopulation problem. Now they are trying to solve this with not a good way and they are doing disastrous moves to kill people in order to shrink their population.

I am curious as to how much the Chinese people actually believe what their government tells them. This is hard to measure because there is consequences for dissent.

The damn was supposed to be a symbol of the accomplishments of the CCP and of communism. I am not sure how much the CCP can deflect blame on others if it were to fail.

In the process, they appear to be harming their food supply, which will make them be less aggressive against other countries, such as the US as China will need to depend on the rest of the world for food.

So you feel a nation that is starving, or thirsting, will become less aggressive?

Just the opposite.

Just the opposite.
Famine in Japan preceded their surrender at the end of world war 2.

China can provide its citizens sufficient food, but bit will need to import it, making them reliant on other countries. Being reliant on other countries for food makes it risky to attack those countries because if you are not successful, you may find yourself at the beginning of famine.

Lack of food can also destabilize a government. Remember that the Chinese people depend on the CCP for their food.

Did you know that, if you wait for a dam to fill up to the top, it will destroy it and anything downstream?

When they open the floodgates is because the water level is getting too high. Dam 101 i guess. i can understand if you place doesn't have one of those you might ignore their operation details.

Nothing they would love more than to keep as much water as possible, for the dry season. But in the rainy season there is no helping it, you just cannot let the water destroy everything, so you release it before it becomes an even worse problem.

This has nothing to do with an "evil scheme" to intentionally destroy the poor villages downstream. It is how dams operate.

And yes, a dam, especially a large one, does irreversibly intervene the land. The artificial lake created for this, submerged countless villages and fields, permanently. While the ones downstream have to live similarly to a river that sometimes grows and sometimes doesn't, not too different to how it was before the dam was erected in place.

And 3 gorges isn't the only large dam China operates...

That doesn't justify the fact that they are doing it at night and giving almost non-existent notice to the public. They would have done the opposite if their intentions are really good. Having too much water is really bad but is the death of people really necessary? I don't think so.

did you know that the dam builders knew what is the best capacity to hold for its all-year utility. and makes the dam capable of more.
they dont just throw a random wall up with no calculations..

thus when the dam reaches X they can release the excess.

this is not emptying the entire reservoir downstream. this is just releasing 1-5% excess.

the river basin downstream can cope with this. heck they can cope with 10x more than a normal flow day

also this 1-5% is not all released in 0.1 seconds to cause a tsunami wave downstream. but slowly released over time

..
anyway its been many many many days since this topic was created.. and im still waiting for the flood that the OP said happened
im waiting for the deaths that the OP suggests is happening

because strangely this topic title is 'china deliberately flooded villages'.. yet.. still waiting... oh it didnt happen
