Are recreational activities work or not

It is now usual to see people saying recreational activities are not work but to ease ourselves, but I think they are not right because when I was in the secondary school back then, in Physics I was taught work.

What is work
Work is a force that moves through a distance over time.

Work= Force x distance/time

During recreational activities, we apply these three questions because running, swimming and many other recreation activities require you to use force to move through a distance over time which is actually work.

In my conclusion, many recreational activities still required work which mean many recreational activities is even work on its owns. So, there are some works that ease the body while some stress the body. I will like your opinion to tell if I am right. Can you also specify the ones that are not truly work.

exercise is a workout

the difference between:
recreational activity
exercise
employment/job(my common definition of work)

is how much effort is put in for a personal benefit at the end. or if it benefits someone/something else more

recreational is something mainly for your own entertainment/benefit.
exercise is a workout but still for your own benefit of your health. no one else gets healthy due to you doing the exercise

a job is more work where it benefits others more then you (managers profit) but you still get something out of it

slavery is where you get nothing in return of benefit or nothing of any valid equal worth of your effort

its not a binary option of only 2 choices. its a sliding scale that also includes a variable of personal benefit

if you want the physics answer
once you add in the variable of
force x distance/time + benefit = X
you can then calculate when X is work, chore, recreation, slavery, exercise

where all your effort is put in.. to only benefit another object is 'work'
exercise you put alot of effort into your muscles. to benefit your outer body image is a work out
because the 'outer' sees the most benefit

They get food as a reward. Just a joke you are very right about this. 

I was only thinking work should stress the body, that is why recreational activities not stressing the body and despite being work, but you give me more insights into this as someone can also exercise oneself for good health reasons. Feeling cool in everything we do makes these recreational, but feeling it is work makes it stressful, that is why being at work makes us feel stresssed.

These questions taunt me at nights, could we consider sex as work? Because with the definitions of work in OP, doing sex requires no distance, it's just a bed/room. Since it reduces stress and induces joy, it could be considered as a recreational activity. Moreover do you know any other activity that motivates people as much as sex? Isn't our entire life revolving around sex, money, food?

How much time do we really spend on spirituality, do we even put any effort on self reflection any more?

What are the non- sexual, monetary, worldly pleasure related works that we do nowadays?  Indeed taunting questions.

Any activity that requires you to apply the definition in the OP will be classified as work meaning work = force distance/time, most things that we do requires some amount of work, the difference is the value that we attach to each work that we do. People attach so much value on their job as work because they earn income from it, not minding that they might put in more physical efforts in exercises, but because they're not paid to exercise, their mindset will tell them that it's just recreation. Housewives works very hard in the homes doing various chores, but because they're not paid salaries for these works, they're not regarded as "work".
