Rules of Damage Void warranty in Manufactories

Graphic card manufacturers all have certain warranty provisions when selling products.
In your warranty terms, are there any terms that deny warranty for mining cards?

With old GPUs its impossible to tell because you can always flash back to stock bios. However maybe newer GPUs got some type of bios lock or bios counter similar to what some Android phones had to prevent rooting. No idea if its implemented yet however.

Usually there is nvram storage for things like OC history, max temps and power usage, etc. all retrievable by .manufacturer in warranty claim

its going to hard to prove in court that its was used for mining.  gamer overclock their gpu too and gaming temp is way higher than mining temp. not unless they logs  programs launch in windows too.

Yes, if you used a GPU for mining then they can void to warranty but, that doesn't happen very often because it's a bit tough to determine what the card is used for unless high heat has damaged the components of the GPU.

High heat is usually never the cause which kills a GPU in mining. Usually most miners undervolt their GPU and keep it in an open air case and temps are VERY low. What usually kills GPUs due to high heat are gamers who got a dual SLI setup and one GPU resting on the other with a enclosed computer case with poor circulation.

I think the reason why they don't want their GPUs used for mining is because mining uses 100% of the GPU for 24 hours a day and can cause some components like capacitors to fail more often. Usually gamers play for 1-2 hours a day and the GPU doesn't go thru as many "useable hours" compared to mining.

That and those who dont bother underclocking... Also fans will wear out sooner. Lots of little reasons why they dont want us to.

Thermal cycles cause the most aging. Running continuously at a constant temperature is
no problem as long as it isn't too high.

That would make gaming more damaging than mining.
