The infamous world "HODL".
It has been created by a drunk user of the forum but it went popular all of a sudden .
Sadly, at that time I'm still unto spending my fiat cash instead of investing it into Bitcoin as I don't anything about it yet until 2017 .

If I only know it at that time and invested even just a few hundred to thousand bucks, I maybe not working for 8 hours in a shitty company now.

His liability turns into an asset, he is not good in trading and it leads to him to just hold the bitcoin. He invented the HODL and I'm sure he made thousands of bucks because of his strategy that he invented. Actually it is really good story for me because imagine he is not good in trading and it became a blessing in disguise for him because he generated profit by just having enough patience and storing his bitcoin in his wallet. The term that he created is now using a lot of people, actually I also use it but I make sure first that I ride the good trend which is the updtrend.

Kidding aside, there are only two possibilities happened. 1) Like what you've said, he made plenty of profits and live like a king right now or 2) Since he admitted that he is a bad trader, his frustration might influence him to surrender and forget about his holdings once and for all which made him broke today. I don't know what actually happened but my gut feel says the latter.

You can be theoretically and practically rich. A holder like him who has, say 50BTC stored somewhere on a paper wallet and has never touched them since 2013 is theoretically rich.
You can make a single mistake, get hacked, get that encrypting trojan, send coins to a wrong address and you're done. I also have a lot of Bitcoin but I don't feel rich since I've maybe spent 1% of them in the last 5 years. An investment is like a work in progress, you are not rich until it's realized and physically manifested in real estate, or education, which is even better because self-improvement is one of the few things that can't be taken away from you.

This is a very simple definition of HODL, a very simple way how to do or deal with BTC, HODL. I am wondering whether he still becomes a holder or not today. Wondering if he still holds BTC until its last ATH, he will really get the high rate and profits, this is the power of HODL. But not all people want it moreover people who do not have any money to hodl.
This means that everyone has their own ways to deal with BTC, depending on their skill and necessity.

Btw, his last active in this forum was on August 13, 2020, 08:34:57 PM, and his last post was January 10, 2020, 01:07:58 AM. Probably he is still here whether we do not know he still has time to read this kind of posts or not.

A true holder can wait the right moment and are willing to risk their funds. It is very unlikely how the new generation of crypto holders might have in their minds. It is very encouraging to hear what makes him keep that long and not even bother to sell it and I'd never think also that he sells it during the last ATH.

He's really a legend and he never minds the possible dump. It might possible that no other like him would trie to break his record, especially during this time. The reality now is that people are less passionate about holding but most are of weak hands.

Yeahh... HODL is one of the best and safest strategies to use in the cryptocurrency world. Because the longer we HODL Bitcoin,

When im just new into this field of crypto where i do already saw that HODL word which did really give out some curiosity on how the hell that Hold = HODL ?

Then i do make up some search about its origin and we do found out this guy which i can say that this man is Legend. 

Pretty sure that there are still lots of HODLERS out there. Price is starting to cling up once again.

I saw this amazing tutorial video about bitcoin trading that says the word "hodl" came from a typographical error in a post by someone from this forum. That instantly became one of the reasons why I joined here. I was so intrigued by the fact that such a tiny mistake (or possibly intentional) is now accepted and widely used as an official business term across the Bitcoin space. I thought this forum must be so influential that it can freely input new terms in the Bitcoin dictionary if it wants to and no one would argue.

I believe many were, or ARE still, laughing at the HODL meme as a trading strategy, but I believe the richest people from the batch of 2013 were the people who HODLed.
