We have not tested many hubs conclusively at this point but believe amp capacity to be the only limiting factor.  You can use USB 2.0 or 3.0 hubs.  3.0's typically have greater capacity.  Please refer to this comprehensive list of hubs that been tested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0

EDIT - I replaced the screen shot with a run that was free from hub issues.  That particular hub could not run efficiently with 4 miners and the miners themselves were not tuned individually.
This shot now shows miners I pulled randomly out of a box, tuned each one and let run overnight.  Let us know if you have any questions.
I am also testing these on ASICMINER's 49 port hub to see what we can get out of that.  Should be interesting.

Having fun goofing with a 49 port ASICMINER hub.  Got them up to 52 bits but afraid to go any higher.
Will reset the display and see what it looks like tomorrow.  Might try to break 80 though first.

What hubs are you using in the pictures? and how many can it run? Looks like the best option for these huge USB miners...

49 port hub - I staggered 18 across the holes.  When I try to put in the 19th it installs with an error.  So I'm not sure if that is because the USB port on the pc is maxed or the hub is.  I am thinking the pc.


I have used an old Anchor hub and a Juiced hub, but any powered hub will work.  The more amps, the more you can run at greater speeds.  They will run on 2.0 hubs, but if you are acquiring new I recommend the 3.0 hubs since they typically have more power.

You might be able to salvage the RasPI option - there are plenty of (powered!) USB2 hubs that can do the job.

From personal experience I know you can populate all ports with NF1 and they will be stable.
