Coinbase may have some lateral interest in getting it resolved. WBTC is amongst the 19 crypto assets recently announced that are under consideration to be included in the Exchange. There’s no telling if and when they’ll get them listed, but at least they are on their radar (see https://news.bitcoin.com/coinbase-reviewing-19-crypto-assets-for-listing-including-wrapped-bitcoin-and-paxos-gold/), which may somehow help your cause.

Hello, I am desperate and just looking for some guidance. I am new to crypto and was using dharma.io for the first time last night. I bought a wbtc but later on decided I wanted to transfer the asset to Coinbase. Again I am new so I accidentally sent it as wbtc to my ethereum wallet. So obviously it didn’t show up and I am scared like hell I lost the asset and 12 grand. I am in touch with Coinbase support and I sent them the transaction hash but am I SOL? It was an honest mistake from a crypto noob and I’m reading online they can’t or won’t get it back. I’m losing it and I need something guidance please. Thanks.

The chances are small you will get a back but you should try.

Unfortunately contacting the receiver of your funds is not really possible you would need to go via coinbase directly. Honestly I would just keep asking the support staff and see their reply. If they don't really want to help you I would retry the support team at different time and maybe you get more lucky with a different person on the support desk. Good luck, I know this really hurts. Happened to me too.

In the future better to tripple check the adress. I guess it's a mistake you will only do once.

So no chance huh? I can’t fathom how they could not fix this. This mistake is gonna cost me $12,000. This is devastating.
We're not saying that you have no chance at all to recover your money but somehow, the chance is very slim for now since WBT is not at their list (maybe it can be listed in the future). Their support is terrible to think, they are not really responsive when it comes to this as they are tired enough to answers such the same mistake again and again. By keeping in touch with their support them might give you the luck to be responded and have their hands to help your problem. I also suggest not to get harsh with them, that is your fault, not them. So it needs to be patient, otherwise.

Nah, I think there is still a hope. Coinbase asked for your transaction hash, so for now, believe that they will do something out of it.
They opened the case for your issue and that seems that they are trying to help you.
And they will more likely to help you because you are their customer, no matter who committed the mistake, they should still make their best to help you resolve it.

I do not know the process on how they can. But I do believe that there is a big chance that those tokens sent to coinbase are retrievable.
Personally I think, that they can make a special integration of wBTC token to to binance just for you (not open for other traders).
This should be retrievable since you've sent your tokens to an ethereum wallet.

And if they resolved it, try giving them the compensation they deserve.

I support you, you should consult to a lawyer if coinbase did not resolved your case.
Be more careful next time.
Goodluck!

Say goodbye to your money and never do the same mistake again.
Bitcoin transactions are irreversible so don't expect that they will send it back to you. Try to use another exchange where you are comfortable in using it to prevent these mistakes. Coinbase is not the only platform that you can use, Binance is there to help you out with trusted quality wallet that will help you in BTC transactions.

I support you, you should consult to a lawyer if binance did not resolved your case.
Be more careful next time.
Goodluck!

Stavello, don't pay attention to such answers, because these are classic shitposters who failed to understand what this is about, so they give you advice on how Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, or to contact Binance for help that has nothing to do with your case.

As some others have already told you, Coinbase is the only one that can solve your problem - but you have to know that in such cases it is not easy to get your funds, it requires a lot of time and technical knowledge - and all crypto exchanges avoid doing things like this because it is not a standard procedure, and can compromise the security of the entire system. Now you can only wait and hope for a positive outcome.

Okay Smiley I also made some mistake. I understood the topic.
I admit most of the time I am having some confusion between binance and coinbase (it's a personal issue). But that does not mean that you can tag me as a shitposter.

I am sorry OP for having such confusion between binance and coinbase. I do not know a lot, and I am just trying to give my personal opinion about the issue.
Thank you @Lucuis! for "correcting" me. You are so generous.

Here, here, I support my mistake with this:

Nah, I think there is still a hope. Coinbase asked for your transaction hash, so for now, believe that they will do something out of it.
They opened the case for your issue and that seems that they are trying to help you.

I did not even said this Smiley
so they give you advice on how Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, or to contact Binance for help that has nothing to do with your case.

Quoting what just I said:

Did you notice that I quote one more user in my post? So my comment is about that other user, not you.

What kind of attitude do I have if I warn someone to pay a little more attention to what it's really about? Legendary rank means nothing special, there are a lot of them on this forum who are Legendary and have no idea what Coinbase or Binance is.

I withdraw my statement that you are a shitposter, but you certainly can do better - we all make mistakes, it is in human nature Wink

I noticed, but you're referring to the both of us as you said "they". But it's fine now.

Thanks for your insight. I appreciate all the advice people are giving me. I totally appreciate that is it is difficult and time consuming. But we are also talking about a momentary mistake  costing me $12000. That seems kinda crazy. I guess at the very least the asset is not technically gone I just have to wait and hope and pray that they list wBtc one day and I’d get it back? So technically my money hasn’t like vanished and is still there?

If you have sent it on an address, it is still on that address and didn't leave for the universe yet so to get hidden out somewhere else. /s
Stop acting like a kid, I know it's your mistake but at least they are looking into it. So, either way, they might try to (most probably) add wBtc to their smart contract and let you be able to get your money back. Not just that, try to get this resolved because you already know that crypto market is volatile and if your asset is volatile enough, don't let it stay for too long in their hands. Trust me, coinbase ain't gonna steal nothing from you, just wait, keep patience and co-operate with them. I hope that your KYC is already verified there so you don't have to prove your ownership and wait for your KYC verification to get completed.

Thanks for the insight. I agree it’s my mistake and I don’t mean to act like a kid. I am just kinda freaked out that a mistake and I could lose 12000. The posts here have made me feel better in that it’s not completely gone. I have already gone through kyc so I am good there. I am just waiting to hear back from them.
