What has bitcoin done for you?

The bitcoin has done to me so many things just like for example this bitcoin teach me on how to become independent and how to take the risks in order to earn money, and also this bitcoin teach many people on how the the cryptocurrency works in which the bitcoin has the volatility and that there are no person can control the bitcoin price.
This bitcoin was really a safe haven for us because tihs teach us so many things in life.

Mostly I agree with everyone.
Bitcoin gave us a lot, in particular the simplicity of our personal life.
He also gave impetus to the development of most interesting projects.
In particular, DeFi ... A lot of old coins got there.
But still, thanks to bitcoin, development went faster.

I'm curious, for you during 2011, did someone tell you that Bitcoin would surge to $10,000, and did you believe them? Or were you only HODLing because of community and camaraderie?

as a miner back then the only off ramp was mtgox and dwolla and coins were around $10 USD and i mined with gaming GPUs. it then fell to around $2 USD for a loooong time. i still mined though through that phase. so it was more a hobby and to be part of the Grand Experiment. where it would eventually go i had no idea but i felt it was a game changer.. but not to the extent it wound up to be.

as to someone saying it would go to 10K (and 20k) back then..well i would of laughed in their face.

but i liked the tech and making (back then) chump change with a gaming rig (later buying several cards, mostly ATI HD58xx and 68xx series cards) to subsidize my gaming rigs but i dindt fully understand it till much later. once i fully understood the white paper.. well it blew my mind as to its simplicity and vision. and here we are.

Did you keep most of the coins once you fully understood the white paper? Or was it still "very impossible" to believe that it would be worth more that $10,000 one day? Because I believe history is repeating itself.

Bitcoin has meant that I mined, spent and traded a fortune in 2010-2011 and indirectly made some others very well off indeed.

Bitcoin hasn't actually done anything for me.

In the main, Bitcoin has been a complete waste of my time.

Ever since knowing Bitcoin, I didn't even consider trading and investing as a way to earn some profit. I thought that you will be needing a lot of capital to start trading and investing and that is when my friend introduced cryptocurrencies to me. As I use some of my salaries to reinvest, I also keep on hoping that I would use Bitcoin as a currency but right now all I can do is hold and trade. I met some people because of this and also have new friends to talk to about this.

Total control over my digital funds. Bitcoin has given me much in this regard as the Banks can't dictate to me the cons and don't they have within their powers.  The government decisions concerning financial institutions can't have impact in my holdings as I only have control over my assets with Bitcoin. Fiats currency going down has nothing to do with me anymore because am myself boss, these and many more Bitcoin has done for me per se.

no, even after more or less understanding the white paper and sound money i still sold most as it was (and still is) an experiment. although now its pretty well established. but back then, at anytime it could of gone to zero (and still could tbh). so i sold many at local highs over the years ($100, $350 etc). gave me some good upgrades to my lifestyle.

but when the 2017 bull run happened while i sold too, now i keep as much of a reserve as possible. i never expected that kind of rise. once it happened.. well now its a different story.

so, maybe 80-90% of my mined coins are gone. keep in mind though the whole reason i got into it was to make some profit from my hobby and participate in the Grand Experiment and that was the deal i made with my wife (and myself).. to actually USE bitcoin as at that time the use case was very up in the air. if no one spent early btc, it could of failed.

so, no real regrets. i feel that helped make bitcoin what it is today (in my extremely small way).

But you would have to convert your bitcoins to fiat to do transactions as there aren't many stores that are accepting bitcoins as a payment method and on top of ot, if the price varies too much then you would have to take some loss while selling your bitcoins. For me, bitcoin has given me a chance to do investments where only a few are doing and also a sneak peek into the future of world currencies as in the future I believe that the same kind of currencies will be used to transact on a daily basis with people all around the world.

Bitcoin was a real deal in here in online. Where you can get it with free and to be honest it was a beautiful thing to be happen in the internet. Because of bitcoin we got a lot of new millionaires that know how to manage their investment by trusting bitcoin technology could bring something to this world. Without a doubt the ability of being able to invest money with a very low amount of capital is critical for the development of cryptocurrencies and the market in general, I say this because at least in my country you need thousands of dollars to be able to open the smallest investment account, and even in developed countries very few people have that amount of money saved so they cannot enter the markets even if they wanted to, but in this market you can begin to invest with a very low amount of capital which means that you can test your strategies for almost nothing and once you get enough money you can be really profitable.

Totally I would say. It changed my thoughts, my way of thinking and I understood that there is lots of interesting things, ideas and instruments for this. I have met lits of interesting people and friends that are in the world of crypto. It was something like you have found the absolutely another road that was always near you but you did not notice it. And nowadays it is not about Bitcoin, but I stoped to be afraid of risks to lose, and used to look something new all the time that will develop me and will help to move on.

every holder of bitcoin within 3 years are likely to make at least 3x of the fund in fiat value. I learnt in difficult way how to invest, take profit and diversify. I learn the value delay of gratification and how to make a better financial plan with any profit. Just like in every other stock or businesses I understand how to research a project and analyse the profit making venture in such business. With bitcoin investors can protect the fund while been mobile.
