I am going to inspect a used 8 GPU (Sapphire RX580 8GB) mining rig with a single 1300 Watt EVGA PSU (I'm assuming its the 1300 G2). He claims he gets 29 MH/s per card. It is running on Windows 10.
That sounds a bit underpowered for 8 RX580's
The seller said the RX580's are all undervolted and bios modded, so that it is safe for the 1300W PSU.
What are your opinons on this?
Thanks for the advice. You might just be saving me from a costly mistake if this is not good. lol.
*edit he also claims he was able to get 50% undervolting on the cards (not sure if he's talking about bios mod or in msi afterburner.) He says he uses both.
**Any other basic checking I should do to make sure its a good purchase? (I will verify booting, and hashing for a few minutes to makes sure it hashes correctly.

Hi,
You launch the mining platform and you look at the errors of the cards with HWINFO64, see if the cards have not been remade thermal paste and pad (0.75mm and grey pad not bleue).
I also buy my used cards, I put Core: 1250 / Memory: 2250 and I look, the errors, the temperature.
this Saturday, I recovered 18 graphics cards, and each card will be checked, on my 12 rigs, I have so far only 3 cards that run at 31MHs instead of 33MHs
Good luck

What do you think of the single 1300 Watt (EVGA 1300 G2) power supply that powers the whole rig AND the 8 X RX580 8 GB Sapphire cards?
You don't think its underpowered? Is 1300W good enough for 8 GPU's? Stock? Undervolted?

8 * 150 + 80 = 1280 If the bios is modified, then we get 120 * 8 + 80 = 1040 Avoid mining algorithms like KawPow and you will be fine with jumay. Buy a wattmeter and check how much the power supply consumes from the outlet. Or you will have to buy 2 power supply units for 600-700 watts, connect 3 video cards from it and mine whatever you want.

psu no more than 80% full usage. example, if a psu is 1000 watts then use only 800 watts. If a psu is 1300 watts then do not use more than 1040 watts.

Its fine to not know the correct way to read power measurements, thats what forums are for - to ask questions and learn. It is however totally NOT fine to be advising people in forums when you do not how to read power correctly. Perfectly fine to use that 1300w. Get a wattmeter and check consumption at the wall with it to be doubly sure, for extra peace of mind.

Yeah, usually u have to almost double what claymore shows, 90W goes something near 150W so 6x150W+50W(RIG) is 950W from the wall, with 8 cards its 300W more, so with 1300W PSU, you might run it but not advisable. But please use Kill-A-Watt and check from the wall! And Kill-A-Watt is just for testing, do not leave it on the place, it will melt after some time...Been there and done that ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Hey Guys. I am going to buy 6x Sapphire pulse rx 570 8gb. My electricity is really very cheap So I dont care about the electricity. Should I buy this graphic card? what Hash rate I will be getting for only one of these cards if I buy ? I am not sure if Sapphire Pulse is good for mining but my budget is not that good so thats why I wanna buy Pulse version. it's really cheap compare to Nitro ones.

I think: - 27/31Mhs with RX570 - 31/34Mhs with rx580Nitro or special edition the nitro + are not more expensive you know,

Unfortunately the nitro+ ones are more expensive in my country. with my Budget I can buy 10x Pulse ones or 6x nitro ones. Probably I will go for the Pulse ones.

Only Ethereum can mine these video cards well. I would take a closer look at the GeForce GTX 1660SUPER, you will get 30-33 mh/s, 80-85 watts from the card, you will not need to modify the BIOS. And these maps will be more optimal for other algorithms. In my country the RX 570 8GB and the GTX 1660 SUPER cost the same. RX 570 is an outdated architecture of 2016 (analogue of RX 470), if you have inexpensive electricity, buy P104, and you will get 36-40 mh/s per card with the same consumption as RX 570.
