The new EIP-2878 would reduce block rewards by 75% and has received sharp criticism from miners who say it will compromise the network’s security.

Ofc it will meet with criticism because why miners will take fewer rewards when the difficulty keeps climbing also mining equipment are not cheap.

Well, if there is no profit, nobody will mine other than the ones that have thousands of eths and need to secure the network or perhaps doing that will instant make eth price around 1k and then will still be profitable. I guess they think the latter will happen, price increases 75% and rewards are 75% reduced.

The price per coin will surely increase if the reward is lowered however im not sure it will go up enough to compensate the decrease of the block reward.

They really hate miners, first bailed on algo change now want to reduce block reward.More than half of network are Asics and if they reduce block reward it will lead to bigger centralization and greater 51% attack chances

No worries. This EIP is dead in the water. Any further reduction in rewards would kick off all gpu miners leaving the network in the hands of large asic farms and susceptible to 51% attacks. Therefore, this EIP will never be adopted as there is no support for it unless you are invested self interest with asics.

All the people invested big bucks for Asics may support the EIP-2878 , but for sure the people with GPU's will stop mining as profit from mining is on the decline day by day

No matter what the price is I doubt anyone would use the network if that network is prone to attacks because these attacks will eventually reduce the price.
