A few days ago, I was cleaning up some posts by this guy Subbir, which is a superstar on the Wall of Shame and indeed a reputed spammer.

I noticed immediately that, although these are in quite acceptable English and even on-topic, there's something quite strange about them. There's hardly any punctuation marks, some of the sentences are pasted together, and even though you can vaguely get an idea of what the guy is trying to say, the whole text is actually a bit... absurd?

After searching for some of the keywords and phrases to Google, as I thought this was written by a bot, I did not find any proof of plagiarism.

I missed it too but repeatedly it depends on luck albeit you've got a thought about bettingit is easy to form a profit without doing anything. the ultimate round looks tons of funfar better at raising funds we've to maneuver forward consistent with the old trick if you hold on you'll make a profit.

Conclusion can only be that this has been written with a text spinner, f.i. like best-spinner . com (for which some members of these boards are making publicity). Only question is: how to proof this...

Since I do not want to make a new Meta thread for every single (spin) spammer out there, I've made this thread not only to report this guy, but also as a friendly suggestion to use this thread to report other spinners, and of course with a wink to LoyceV's thread about plagiarism.

Might also be interesting as a discussion thread about how we could proof that these guys are using text spinners. Imho, since these posts are written by software/apps, I see very few - if any - differences with bot spammers...

If we find a way to detect spun replies then I think there's no need for a separate thread for reporting.
The original spammer wall of shame thread has (thankfully) slowed down since the days of ICO spamming and could easily fit reports over article spinnign as well.

I did find some paper that has a web-demo on detection of machine generated text, but from what I see it just won't load with user-inserted examples: https://gltr.io/dist/index.html

But it's open source so with some tinkering a self-hosted version could be optimized for bitcointalk.

Sounds like too much work though. I don't know if a spammer's half arsed efforts are worth that much effort for proving that they're actually using machine generated text. Gut feeling might also be enough. And to be honest, the replies you've quoted clearly make no sense.

It should be easy to do using Sagemaker.   You'll need to get as many examples as you can (millions would best) and then it can report possible text spinning and the probability.  You would need to write a bot to generate the examples, but considering the outcome will render their service less useful, don't expect them to help.

It seems like the user subbir has used an automated tool to translate. It does not look like text spin because text spinner will nevee give you such bad quality. They only change some words, no change in sentence structure even I think.

It is difficult to caught a text spinner but if we found someone posting a lot of stuff with incorrect grammar, this may indicate that he is using a text spinner to create his posts. That's a only way to caught a person who is using any software to spin the text.

Well, continuous posting of nonsensical replies should at the very least warrant a signature ban.
If a user doesn't contribute to discussions with on-topic replies that make sense, then why should they be paid to post?

At the very least, if these posts are made by a human, that human should be able to defend themselves like if they receive a sig ban. This is my idea of what would shake off some of the worst cases.

Some text spinners are hard to caught especially when you just look at the keywords of what they posted coz some text spinners have this special feature where they can just change the exact word to its synonym, so you will not know easily that they spin it.

Why is he not banned for that actions? hmmm is that legal?

He isn't banned due to the fact that the accusations have no valid proofs yet of using text-spinners, as there are still no free nor good software nor a website that detects such actions. It can only be "seemingly" text-spinned, in which most cases, are just another branch of the umbrella of Plagiarism, more specifically Synonymizing. And if ever someone could build an effective bot that reverses text-spinners (writing all possible alternative wordings for a context), then we could somehow proof that those users do indeed uses spinners.

I'm quite astonished to discover this guy is still among us, continuing to post his low/no-value shit several times a day on these boards.
