Honestly, after such a horrible season, even United fans are not expecting a win out of this game. Liverpool has been great for a long time and they are looking like they could win the title all together, which is why I believe that we could see Liverpool win this game easily. I am not saying it's "guaranteed", because no game is, even if Liverpool goes against Southampton, it's never guaranteed result, but we feel like it's as close to it as it gets. United s*cked for the entire season so I do not expect them to suddenly get better and win all of the games and start that series with a Liverpool game.

The logical response to this would be that we could see United end up losing this game too, and that would make a lot more sense.

This match was actually predictable despite all the considerations, but it turns out that the performance of the two teams is very different. And as we have seen throughout this season, Liverpool is very consistent and remains solid at the top of the standings with its aggressive play that can make it difficult for the opposing team, while Manchester United is very inconsistent and has a poor defense and this will make it easier for Muhamed Salah et al to penetrate Manchester United's defense with his aggressive attacks.
And I am sure Liverpool can maintain their performance until the end of the season and besides that Liverpool still has one pending match that allows them to win the title this season.

Man Utd have been terrible all season and Amorim has done nothing yet to justify his appointment. Liverpool have scored the most goals in the league and are in 1st place in the PL and CL tables. They have only lost once all season. You mention set pieces, Liverpool don’t rely on them like Arsenal who would probably be midtable without goals from corners.

Let’s see what happens but I fully expect a Liverpool victory.

Not seeing that Manchester United now has good possession statistics especially from free kicks, the opportunity for that is still low in this match.

Amorin will only be frustrated with the result when they lose and lose. Liverpool's statistics are far above the average of Manchester Unuted so I have no conclusion where Liverpool draw or lose.

I get you but what I'm trying to say is, some might be saying there is still time like Arsenal but if you don't get the job done you'll be left behind so doing the needful now is better than having the hope of saying there's still time, if you see the remaining time left as the deadline and you start putting more effort I think things will fall in place for you, hope you get me Mr. I don't think I need to explain myself more than I have already.

Everything can still change if Liverpool experiences a sharp decline in the middle of this season but if Arne Slot can maintain Liverpool's consistency then Arsenal clearly has no chance of becoming champions this season, if the points difference is thin then Arsenal still has time to turn things around but the points difference between Arsenal and Liverpool is quite far and Liverpool still has 1 match that has not been played so for now we can only see how far Liverpool maintains its performance because we don't know what will happen after entering the second half.

Be realistic bro, currently Liverpool is in its best form with 14 wins, only 1 loss, and 3 draws, the results that make this team at the top of the standings. While man united, you know yourself that they are currently slumping and experiencing difficult times, and even this season is one of the worst seasons ever experienced by man united. so even though this is an away game for liverpool, this should be a fairly easy match for them to win. and in this match man united can do nothing but defend so that liverpool does not slaughter their goal with a landslide score.

Liverpool has many ways to score many goals against man chester united.

The Premier League is at that point by now where hope has to play a bit of a role as Liverpool is performing above everyone else and they have it all in their own hands. I get the point that it is not very likely that Arsenal will win 100% of the remaining games, but we have seen close finishes in leagues in the past when big advantages were melting away from week to week because of a draw here and there and Liverpool still has a couple of very tough games to play. All the top teams are still waiting for them in the second half of the season.

Actually I quite agree with the decision to extend Maguire, indeed he made many mistakes but that is in the hands of whose coach? and poor player management but if reviewed recently Amorim really likes Maguire playing style where he is used to the 3 defender format as expected by Amorim. Now he doesn't make the blunders you mentioned. If Maguire returns to fight for his lost place under coach Erik Ten Hag.

I had to go read from the OP you quoted just to be sure that i wasn't reading something different. From the look of things, it's obvious the analysis wasn't from a genuine point of view, and that's why i don't even bother talking much about football with some people, when i realize that they're not talking from a transparent point of view. But to start with, i don't really know the "standards" that the OP is referring to, because if we're to judge, and make predictions on both paper, and base on stats, Liverpool should be winning this game comfortably without stress. Of course, i agree that in football, anything can happen, but there are some games that don't even need too many debates.

And as for the goals, well, i think every football fan will prefer to support a team that scores from an open play, than to support a team that scores more of corners. Though, i don't think it's a big deal, as long as a team can do whatever it takes to grab all points/win. Winning is more important, so it doesn't matter if it's an open play or corner, but i prefer a team that scores from open plays.

And as for the game on Sunday, well, we can only pray that it doesn't break the initial record of 7-0, because as things stands, it looks very likely to happen. Anfied is a place were teams beg for a draw, but i don't think United will be getting that.

Sometimes, decisions become something strange and quite unreasonable, I don't know what Amorim expected from Maguire who clearly has made many blunders. Even though he has changed coaches several times, in reality Maguire still gets playing minutes and that is also quite surprising I think. Moreover, by extending Maguire's contract, I think it is very strange. Or maybe, Amorim saw great potential from Maguire, until Amorim made the decision to extend his contract. And yes, I think it is difficult for Manchester United to recover and get better if they are still going to maintain many players in the Manchester United squad.

Arsenal seems to be doing well but I don't want you to underestimate 6 points in a league like EPL where a big team winning a match is not guaranteed. Lets use the match between Arsenal and Brentford, if not of hard luck and the effort of Arsenal keeper, Brentford would have made that match very difficult for Arsenal. This was a match we all though Arsenal would win without stress but from the beginning of the match, it was not easy for Arsenal and they even have to come from one goal down to winning the match. If Maguire's contract is being renewed, it is because the new coach has found him fit to play his style of football. There must be plans by Manchester United to bring in new players of which I am sure a defender will be among. Manchester United is in the process of rebuilding, Next season they should be better. Among defenders under the Manchester United Radar is Nuno Mendes from PSG who is showing no interest in remaining in PSG. There is another rumor from the United side which is that they plan to offer Rashford to Napoli to facilitate a deal for Victor Osimhen. Who else has heard that?

Maguire was on his prime when Manchester United sighed him for $80m and adds on estimately huge amount of money and along the line he went to bad mode and they couldn't sell him nor use. They are only holding him down so he can improve but there is no any improvement, there were some teams that were interested in him but it was 2 times discount of amount he was bought and they skip the deal, still using him till either the contract expire or get good offer hopefully.

The way Manchester United needs striker, they also need midfielders, the communication is very poor and they are not connecting with the forward players. Amorim should not turn dead ears on recommendation unlike the previous coach that wasn't listing, he was acting too professionals and yet things were getting bad for the team and that's what Amorim is suffering till date.

I don’t really think Liverpool is going to experience poor performance this season, but nobody can tell; the season is still half over, so we can’t really say what will happen, but right now, with their current performance, they are stronger and can even do more to remain at the top and win the title this season. As for Arsenal, they have been failing in the last moments of the season, and nobody is really thinking that they will do that, so even this one we can’t say whether they will make the same mistake or not, but let’s see how they will continue, whether they are going to keep their consistency or not.

Unfortunately, it may still be a loss for Manchester United when they face Liverpool who are in the mood of winning contrary to their opponent that have been depressed by unending losses. It is just frustrating seeing that the coming of Ruben Amorim does not seem to change anything for Manchester United, Amorim that made Sporting Lisbon a power and destructive team. A contract extension offer for Harry Maguire by the management of Manchester United I think is deserving of the England international. I know we've talked about his obvious mistakes that's made the club lost matches before now but let's also not forget that Maguire has significantly improved in recent months and even more since Ruben Amorim arrived Manchester United. I think the Portuguese manager is interested in working with Maguire and is very ready to prioritize him in his defensive plans for the club so for me, he should be given a new contract

One thing that I had know before was that maguire was not an excellent defender that many people think because of his huge wage salary but there is something he has which makes him to be above  average. Maguire also is a very good professional and was just lacking in confidence which actually contributed to him been more poor in the field in terms of decision making and that was what lead to him been dropped as the club captain. Seriously after getting dropped i admire his character and how he deal with situation professionally. Since the period where he was dethrone he has had a better games which shows he is full on confidence

The new contract was just the option to extended or trigger his one year extension in the contract. This will give the club chance to negotiate new deals or possibly look for another option before his contract expires
