Below is a link to the % of Bitcoin owned by addresses and what it takes to be a millionaire in Bitcoin. This is from Bitinfocharts.

https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

Essentially, if you have currently more than 100 BTC, now, at $11,329.49 USD from www.coinmarketcap.com you are pretty solidly above a worth

of 1 Million USD if you HODL more than 100 BTC! That should make a few people here on www.bitcointalk.org feel plenty good! Smiley

Of the current Bitcoin in circulation and current % of persons HODL'ing more than 100 BTC to reach this status is 61.46% of all BTC addresses out there are worth more

than 1 Million Dollars in USD! Smiley

A further chart below was from Feb 14th, 2013, and the article "How-many-people-actually-have-at-least-1-Bitcoin" as another view of this.

https://medium.com/@bitzlato/how-many-people-actually-have-at-least-1-bitcoin-ac8d1260509e

Where do you stand on all this? Are you one of the lucky ones with more than 100 BTC in a HODL/HOARD BTC wallet?

Take the poll.

Thanks

brad

Are you one of the lucky ones with more than 100 BTC in a HODL/HOARD BTC wallet?

I doubt anyone would reveal exactly how much Bitcoin they own, the forum may be privacy centered but it's possible one may have left clues of real Identity on the internet, and it would be an unnecessary flex to prove to be among the top x%.

Also, I don't consider the owners of those addresses lucky, they either are rich through their effort and converted some of their cash to bitcoin, or they took the risk of buying Bitcoin at the bottom and hodled their stash.
Some of it could also be exchange addresses.

Below is a link to the % of Bitcoin owned by addresses and what it takes to be a millionaire in Bitcoin. This is from Bitinfocharts.

An address does not equal an identity, one person can own many addresses, and multiple persons can "own" a single address - like when exchanges hold coins for many people, but consolidate them into a few addresses. I own more than 1 BTC, but I never owned even close to 1 BTC in one output.

If you want to study distribution of coins, you either have to be an exchange, so you can know how much coins are hodled or withdrawn, or you need to make a high quality poll - not simply on this forum or other social media, but with proper scientific method to remove all biases.

Edited a poll for those who give a damn or not..myself..not so much. Smiley (Hard to run a BTC group w/o saying you have BTC) Smiley

By the By, I found the 61.46% quite high for addresses with over 100 BTC, just as an aside. Smiley

People who are holding more than 100btc will not go on the internet saying they are such holders, if you expose someone with more than 100btc he will become a target to the hackers, that's why is important to have a low profile, will fewer peoples know who are the real holders is more secure for them.

I think only the winklevoss twins go screaming everywhere how millionaire they are... But is not the smartest move.

damn hard to hack a paper wallet in a safety deposit box Smiley

so it goes...also if you have been on Bitcointalk since say 2009 or in my case, 2013..it is not a hard thing to find out... I mean..it is not like when I first got to 50 BTC at

$150 in 2013 that it was such a big deal to claim such. Any look at anyone that far back will likely find such info out in about 10 min of msg searching on Bitcointalk.

Anyway option of FU to the OP (me) and not saying exists in the poll.

IF nothing else we will see how secret folk feel about this whole how much you got thread Smiley

(sorry, bored in the Pandemic....but hey..now the thread is up..so will go with it, nay or yah on the 'dubiousness' of the logic of this thread)

Anyway, in my case, being anonymous that boat has sailed..probably good advice for people from now on I guess. Anyway, slam it or take the poll.

This thread is 'what it is' ..so it won't be the first nor likely last time I will be 'burned at the stake on Bitcointalk' for a 'dumb thread' Smiley

Why do you bother?

It's funny that you are trying to know who are the bitcoin millionaires in bitcointalk! I am certainly not that lucky one but I wonder what's the good reason for anyone to disclose if they are the lucky one!

Secondly, if one wallet holds 100 bitcoins, that doesn't mean that the owner of that wallet will not have few other wallets holding similar/smaller/or even bigger amount. It's a wild goose chase to try and understand who are the bitcoin millionaires, really!

The information seems not too good if publicized, you know? we don't know what those scammers are capable of. There's something we need to understand regarding the amount of BTC we are holding. The truth of the matter is, most likely it is safe if we don't even talk about it. Let's just focus on holding it until we find the price suitable to sold it in the market. as for talking about how much we are currently holding, Nah! no thanks. Things will go smoothly if we hide it.

Exactly. I do not really understand the purpose of this thread with that being said.
If you are a millionaire you do not go around telling people about it, I best.
I agree that keeping low profile for these people would be more safer and beneficial.

That will be an unfortunate situation, but it is the responsibility that comes with being your own bank; Not your private keys, not your coins.
If you had a safe (as impenetrable as the Bitcoin network), containing a million USD and you don't know the combination to it, you can not claim to be a millionaire. Without the private keys/seed phrase anyone could claim ownership of any address.

Crypto millionaires are becoming more and more every year and this is exactly what should happen.

yep...years ago you needed 1,000 BTC to be a Millionaire. Now around 100 BTC, so I'm hoping for around $20k BTC and then that will be reduced to 50 BTC Smiley
