Incorrect ban for plagiarism - I copied my own text

I would like to ask for advice.

I have an ongoing research. Based on my current results I could improve the method of solving proof of works. I was working on a research / economic plan for almost a year and I've reached a point where I could summarize my concept. Documentations about the calculations and scientific methods at an acceptable quality are available, hence the time has come to reach the next level, so to speak. I'm motivated to proceed and I'm planning to do a customized crowdfunding to fund my project.


However there are some problems.:

I've had a forum profile which was banned in May 2020, after posting a summary about the current problems of quantum computers, and a theoretical proposal about improving the logic layer of an architecture, which can be used to solve pow more efficiently. I was immediately banned without any notification, despite the following facts.:

• I've read the subforum rules and I didn't notice anything forbidden in my doc.
• The reason for banning was either spamming or plagium. It wasn't specified, but spamming is not an option because that was my first topic about the subject, plagium is also unfounded.
• That summary didn't involved any business related offerings. It was just a simple and short proposal about technology and scientific controversies.

I've tried to send an email to support in which I accepted the fact that I was banned. However in a polite way I asked the support to justify the decision.

No answer was given. I would gladly share my doc again here, but I don't want to risk. If you ask for it privately, I could send it.

My investigation has nothing to do with personal reasons, I just want to understand the situation, because It would be inconvenient to be banned from the forum again.


I accept walking on eggshells, so I would like to ask you the following.:

• I have a very brief intro about my research. Where should I post, to not be banned?
• I also have a very straightforward intention to find investors for my project which is about both mining (Bitcoin) and both altcoins (my economic model involves a 'restricted' token distribution process). Where should I post, to not be banned?

update: I just found about it, that an alt profile of a banned profile can't post anywhere else, than meta.

What's your other account that got banned? You need to appeal that ban if you think it's unjustified. For example, if you got banned for plagiarism then maybe you can prove that you're the original author of that content.

It seems to have been copied from Reddit but unfortunately Reddit is crashing right now so I can't verify. If you can prove that you own the Reddit account that posted the same text then you should be able to get unbanned.

Oh, thanks! That's it! I assure you that the source of every word was my mind only.

Of course there were research papers which influenced my intellect during the years, but I don't think that I have to pinpoint the source of every word in an intro documentation like this.

One thing is for sure: I didn't plagarize a single world neither in this forum nor in my whole life!

Please read the edits I made to my post above. If you can prove that you own the Reddit account you should be ok with your ban appeal. We just need to get moderator's attention to this, which shouldn't be too hard.

Don't post personal information publicly on the forum. Just edit your post and take away the name and email address. This info is supposed to be send by email to the given email in the ban warning message, not posted here.

In April or May of 2019, there is a huge list of permanently banned users and reasons behind this are mostly plagiarism and a new released plagiarism-detected and -reported bot.

Is the summary yours? If it is not yours, did you leave source link?

What do you mean by that exactly?

Just a suggestion. You posted a copy of an e-mail above that includes your name and your e-mail address... even if you're not worried about privacy, you might start getting spam and even scam/hack attempts so I suggested that you remove at least the e-mail address from that post. This is unrelated to your ban appeal.

Yes, it's likely the reason for your ban. Can you edit the post on Reddit and add something like "Posted on Bitcointalk as vincent_sz" at the end?

I hope so. First I felt myself paranoid, because there was a sentence in my summary which was somewhat influenced by one of Peter Shor's paper written in 1994.:

"since the efficiency of our computers cannot exceed the known restrictions imposed by the laws of physics, the framework of the actual implementation is outside the domain of a conventional Turing machine."

I think that this statement is general enough not to be banned from a forum. So it was a useful and clever thought to look up reddit sources. However it was so an unlikely solution for me, since I used the same names in both forums.

I've seen so many Newbies posting plagiarism, that this instantly triggers the same suspicion. But since you've edited your Reddit post to confirm it's yours, I don't think you should be banned.
I read it, but I don't understand it at all I'm not a native English speaker, but this sounds to me as if you're trying to make it as complicated as possible.
Update: it went better reading it a few more times without the kids around, but it's still tough material.

You're right, however I didn't have any faith in a successful revoking in the first place. I just wanted to understand the motivation. When I was banned I didn't have the slightest clue about the reason. I must also add that my appeal was written in May.

For what it's worth, I think most people that are invested in BTC technologically should be able to understand it.

Students of higher-level mathematics should be able to handle it sufficiently, I imagine. It's definitely not colloquial language, but you don't have to have academic knowledge to understand it. Some sci-fi readers may even have some fun with the thread

In the future, I suggest that, in situations like this, you still refer to the original article. Regardless of the fact that you are the author of both texts. Self-plagiarism is also a type of plagiarism. It's just not a banworthy offense on this forum.

Yes, I see that now. It's really unfortunate and the ban was unjustified in your case. I'm surprised that moderators missed that piece of information.

Given the notification, first I thought that my ban was irreversible. However further discussions about the subject on the forum, made me realize that the reason behind my ban was plagiarization. However it was unfounded, because I 'plagiarized' myself, precisely my reddit profile.

As a proof I temporary edited my original reddit post to prove that I am the owner of both profiles.:
