Wrong, again. You will put at least 120 to get 100. And since you can't figure it out, you can go to your local bank and ask them "what's the point".

It's used as a protection to the lender in case the borrower defaults.

Collateral also increases the borrower's chance for getting the loan.

Instead of selling property for cash in cases of emergency, a person would rather borrow and use the property as a collateral. Once the loan is due, borrower will have to return the cash to the lender (with or without interest) while the lender will return the property to the borrower.

In case of crypto lending, if a borrower don't want to sell his coin or token yet but is in need of immediate btc (to be converted to fiat), he can also offer it as a collateral. It usually happens when borrower believes the coin or token will pump someday and want to hodl.

Different people have different needs. Obviously you are not a very active trader so you don't understand what 'a good trading opportunity' means.

As for collateral, sometimes the coins are staked so they can't be withdrawn easily, sometimes the borrower doesn't want to sell certain coins because he expects a price increase soon ... These are all good collaterals for short-term loans.

Did you ever hear anyone getting a loan without giving something more valuable than the loan amount that he asks?

Like 8 years ago I went in bank in one of the anglo Saxon Country English speaking bank.
They gave me without any collateral loan
And credit card with  2000$ limit to spend how I Want

So your bank example is not correct Here rules are different everywhere!!
