As for the life insurance you mentioned, it's worth it when you still don't have a large enough estate. If you have a net worth of $5 million, you don't need it because life insurance is the same net worth. In that case, you can even consider it to replace your income. But for non-existant or low net worths it is necessary.
Better that than having to start a gofundme account after the death.
