How to be useful to the forum ?

Hello,

I was told by *someone* that in order to achieve something here, I need to be useful to the forum first.

About me and my whereabouts in the forum :

• I usually login and see what's going on in the forum whenever I have time to - read posts, think, implement.

• When I have more time to spend I sometimes patrol too and look at topics I got no clue about and see what's in it.

The issues I have :

• Even though I read a lot of topics, I am unable to answer to them, since either they have already been answered or that I don't have enough knowledge about the subject being discussed.

• I don't have a special skill set to offer some services in the services board nor am I able to make enough time to manage something like that, but I am looking into myself what I can offer so that people can benifit.

• I felt like I am being left out, it's been a few months since I am on the forum and my progress has slowed down drastically, I feel like I lack a little bit of something.

There is no doubt that everyday I am looking at something new here and learning something new, but how do I contribute too ? I don't really want to spam anything that already everyone knows. Also, I think a lot of new memebrs feel the same like me.

Calling out all the fellow members to share thier thoughts and insights on how to deal with this issue.

It's pretty simple, really. Go and actually read and research about Bitcoin in general— or maybe focus on some aspect: like the technical stuff, the economic side of it, investment theses, trading, etc, depending on what you're mostly interested in. It will be quite difficult for anyone to be "useful" if the person doesn't have much knowledge about the niche/topic in the first place.

Sometimes it's best to stop focusing on the growing of your account, and focus on growing your knowledge instead.

It depends on what you consider by "achieve something here", although by the context provided in the OP I figure you partially mean ranking-up, and partially providing content that you feel comfortable enough with it being contributive.

You don’t have to be a technical guru, and often you can reply based on logic, and backed by some research (by that I mean contrast with some information source) to sustain the fundamentals of your arguments.

Actually, in terms of Merits/Activity, you’re not that bad off, and becoming a Member is more than most can achieve. I see that I’m your biggest Merit awarder to date (https://public.tableau.com/shared/JMXSPDH6F?:display_count=y&:origin=viz_share_link), so at least I found some of your posts decent enough.

OP! If I have to share my experience here on the forum, this forum is good and they are not selfish to award you merits but there are certain things to put to consideration.

1. Check for posts that are merited, they are not just written, but professionally written. You have to know how to write out topics professionally.

2. Do not yet comment to threads to much so far you do not know about what to comment about, this is a time of research for you. Read about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. With time, you will be good.

3. Try to look for topics that are not existing on this forum, research about it, and form an article. Post it here, abide to corrections and learning process continues.

4. You need to read bitcoin and altcoin news, there are many information you can derived from there. Coindesk and cointelegraph are good examples.

5. Continue learning about bitcoin. You will need to read mastering bitcoin in the process, it will help a lot. And always feel free to ask questions about what you do not understand on the forum.

But like ddmrddmr commented, and according to your posting history, your posts are not bad, you should just take it easy on the go and continue posting good, you will eventually rank up.

If you do not know anything about the particular topic why not make a research on it we have now the internet and with the help of search engines you have you can easily find the answer to your question.

Don't get bothered because not only you experience this kind of problem and asking with themselves just explore and you'll see your skills don't rush everything.

Progress is progress no matter how it's slow. Many member are still on the lower rank but they won't give up until they reach the higher ranks.

In my experience on the first create on my account I'm struggling to get rank up and earn merit but by the time goes by forum gives me a lot of opportunities to learn and now one of my successful projects is the bitcoin talk game.

There are a lot of things you can explore right here on our forum if you think you do not have any talent or skills that you can offer on our services you can try different things so you can make it. I'm one of the old members right here and it's too hard right now because I'm not currently active on creating some threads but still I'm doing my best too to earn merit as for now.

Trust me, we all have topics we don't have any idea what is being discussed about or what/how to answer. At that point, all you have to do is just keep on reading and researching the said subject if it interests you. For example, I cannot answer to like >85% of the technical stuff and almost anything related to mining. There's more stuff I can not answer to than just that, so we aren't much different. Some members have a very, very broad knowledge when it comes to mining. We all have different interests.

It'd be nice if you could find some way to offer something for BTC on here - the more people offering stuff we have, the more Bitcoin grows. But that is not a requirement. I have personally tried launching a little signature campaign management service, but I did not have much success. Try to find a niche that hasn't been discovered yet. You might do great.

What exactly is it? Try to find out. You're probably trying way too hard to post threads wherever possible to just get those merits. A lot of my merits came from posts I never thought would get rewarded. Take your time to look through threads and reply whenever you feel like you have a point to make. Otherwise, it gets exhausting and annoying to reply to stuff you aren't interested in.

My post count per day has drastically slowed down as well lately for many reasons - not having as much time as I had a few months ago is one of them. The thing is, it's much better to post once per day but have a higher-than-average quality than posting 5 more times and spamming everywhere.

So long story short, just reply to stuff you're interested in and try to prioritize quality over quantity (what an ironic statement coming from me, the probably longest and most boring reply writer around here). Things will get better in time.

Sheesh. Sounds like a lot of pressure to be put under. If I'd been told that was what I had to be when I arrived I probably would've buggered off.

Do I regard myself as useful to the forum? Would it somehow be degraded when I finally have that aneurysm on the toilet and disappear? Um, not really.

Forget about it being some sort of civic duty or obligation. That'll make you a boring and irritating poster and I do see quite a few like that. You can feel their consciousness of it seeping through what they write and it's rather gross to witness.

If you don't know something then ask about it. That's just as constructive as answering something. I've learnt plenty when someone's question casts a new light on a subject that I hadn't considered, and it may well be something I didn't know myself but had never gotten around to asking.

What you have that no one else on this forum has to offer is yourself. Be true to that. Find out your area of interest and pursue it. If you try to be what you think others want you to be no one will be fulfilled. And if it's not fun or informative and feels like a total slog then sit back and think about why. It shouldn't be and you won't last if it is.

See? I am not inclined to technology. I get confused all the time they are sharing posts with terminologies and the process how it is done. Even my language is somehow a barrier to attain understanding here in the forum. So, I check local boards for some information to learn. Still outside the local board has great stuff to learn in cryptocurrency. Yet, I learn somehow and continue exploring the forum by active participation in discussion. I sometimes getting corrected too but that is not a problem instead I should be happy getting corrected.

Just do not afraid to try but if not too sure on things or that confusing you, try to search for the thread related to your search or start a thread and ask your questions here directly. Ther are many users here willing to help you. Get back to me if I am wrong.

I feel the exact same way, it is difficult to analyze if I am improving or not. But despite that, I continue to trust myself and keep on moving forward because I know that there's a good outcome waiting for me. Personally, it is much better to move slowly than rush things without understanding anything. You can share your gained knowledge and impressions to our fellow members, you may think that it's a small act but it can sort out different views. It won't be easy to figure out that lack of something, so go ahead and dig into the information on the forum.

If you are good at investigating, you can search forum for multiaccounts. Take a look on Reputation section how things are done. All you have to do is to find two or more users using same social media acccount, address or send funds to each other and them send total amount to an exchange. The work is monotonous, but will help to clean forum from cheaters.

I remember being a shitposter in this forum, even though I never thought of being "useful" in this forum. Just opened the forum to meet the standard of the posts for the signature bounty. And I did this for a long time. Isn't that sad?

Until finally I was tired and quit for a few months. Only sometimes open the bitcointalk.org to just see how this forum is or how the crypto world is developing.

I became interested again when I read the posts of members here who shared their experiences to contribute here and be able to rank up "from zero to hero". And initially, I was also encouraged by the presence of a campaign strategy that harms BTC. But at that time I was still confused about how.

So, for more than 2 months, I only focused on reading and studying in this forum. learned from how to contribute well. And finally, I started trying to post back on forums. Even with very modest knowledge. sometimes 1 post takes hours while digging up information to make a post in one thread. I got so much feedbacks, the members here really help me much. From here, many things can be obtained. It's not just about merit, but about how crypto is developing, this technology is about, and about this forum.

To be sure, this forum has provided a lot for me. That is why contributing as well as we can here is really important. And make ourselves to be useful here.

It's hard to start or make a first move but the next steps to that is much easier once we started to share our insights and ideas. It's normal as newbies that we experience pressure and felt being left-out since we just started and trying to know more. What important is that you learn learn and somewhere along the way I'm sure you'll be able to discover something not yet discussed here on focus about. There are many crypto coins and websites popping every now and then, you might happened to discover them while browsing.
It will takes time and soon it will be easy to express your thoughts once your used in doing it.

I think this forum has benefited or provided most of us here over the past years due to signature and bounty campaigns, that is why instead of making shit or spam post in this forum. We should be making a contribution or quality post because it could be the best replacement as thanks to this forum and other members here who help us from scam accusations and market predictions and analysis. I have also been a shitposter in this forum; that is why I have difficulty accepting every signature campaign. But because of some users here in this forum who have to reach high ranks from low ranks due to making useful contributions that makes me motivated also to make good quality posts.

Achieve something as like what? Join a signature campaign? Earn 1000 merit and become Legendary? Become a well-recognized member of this forum?

Imo this is a wrong approach to using this forum. It's not a career, it's a place to discuss Bitcoin. Just do whatever you want to do, as long as it doesn't brake forum rules. Visit the boards that are interesting to you, read posts, reply to people. Start threads sometimes, if you want to share something interesting with other users. Ask questions, answer questions if you know the answer. But never feel that you have to prove something to someone.

This also a useful effort for this forum where you tried to know the way to be more useful in this forum. See protrader786 we have not the same knowledge, some are very intelligent, some are less. So it's normal that sometimes we can understand something/not able to reply. So don't think bad about this. My suggestion will be to focus on which you like most. And You have to learn some basic things about cryptocurrency. Also, you can focus on scam busting. Try to visit scam accusations and see how the scam busters are catching fake/scam projects every day. Hope you will learn something there too.

To make all things easier I will suggest you to visit this forum with a fresh mind. And give your full focus on this forum during sitting in front of the computer.

a) let that not discourage you, i mean, often similiar answer in reality expanding expected result from topic author, even few extra words can make difference of understanding the answer, so just try explain it again but with your own words
b) that is something you can work out. Focus on learning specific thing you can help others with or earn money. For example programming language that you enjoy the most
c) it all depends on your goals here, im here to learn, help and have fun from time to time, thats it, but i see many many people are here to earn money that way or another

One of the common reason why we cannot create useful content is because of being lack of knowledge, I know to myself that I am one of them because I am still a beginner of this crypto world and I find so hard to relate myself on some topics here, so one thing that I am doing whenever I don't know the topic is that I use the google search if there is a term that is new for me or I don't understand, it helps a lot, searching before commenting on a certain topic is not that hard and it won't consume so much of you time.

There are always answers to any problem, you just need to be hard work on finding it. We have the internet that can help us a lot, there are many information that we can learn from searching. If there's a will then there's a way, always keep it in our mind.
