I generally do not advocate Giveaways or airdrop as most of them are fake, but I see a lot of Newbies falling for them every day.

Recently Twitter has been in the news for fake giveaway and hacking scam which most of us here know. So I did a few checks and found an option to help those interested to determine whether you are participating or promoting a scam.

If you are someone who participates in Twitter giveaways & airdrops then you need to first check whether the giveaway is genuine or not by doing a simple search using these two hashtags.

#fakegiveaways
#fakeairdrop

These two hastags still cannot guarantee anything but, will help you to find genuine giveaways or airdrops.

Unless the owner of the account is a known person and the account is really his (with the blue check mark) there's a very big chance the giveaway is fake.
It's a quite known method for a few days/months old accounts to artificially boost the number of followers, since most don't bother to unfollow and report.

#fakegiveaways
#fakeairdrop

These two hastags will help you a lot to determine whether your giveaway or airdrop has been reported as fake or scam.
This can be of help but it may not help also, what if such giveaway is a scam but not yet reported, will those hashtags help in such time? I do not think so. The best thing to do is to stay away from these giveaways for not to be scammed one day. But, if you do not stay away, you have to be sensitive, and use a device not connected to your wallets, exchange accounts, bank accounts and the likes. Scammers are perfect to have scammed a lot of people before any report I guess.

I'd rather avoid finding airdrops on Twitter or other social media platforms. Giveaway aggregators are not that good either so I'd stick with giveaway in this forum where you can check and discuss on the go.

On top of that, an easier way to filter out scam giveaways is by using your common sense. There's no free lunch, so there's no way send 1 BTC and get 2 BTC is a legit idea.

Your advice is bad.

I bet that people who find scam giveaway belong to two main types: lazy and greedy; or curious.

The first type is putting themselves at risks. They are always greed so the more information they see, the more risks that they will fall into loophole.

If you yourself cannot differentiate between good and Fake Giveaways, then relying on Twitter hashtag will be dangerous because it is easy to fake some trading tweets and show false results.
It does not matter the amount of positive publicity or comments. Focus on the white paper, future plans, technical development, continuity of support, and the distinct idea that is different from the rest of the projects that make this project unique.

I don't do Airdrops nowadays since I cannot see the benefit of doing it anymore and my Twitter account was also blocked because of those Airdrops because it violates the Twitter terms of use. Some Airdrops that I've been promoted last year was violating some Twitter rules that made my account blocked and inaccessible until now. Not only me but there are many accounts that year demised and faced their dooms.

Its very simple to see all those fake giveaway  if they ask user's to send xx amount then its obviously a scam attempt. Also before retweeting or advertising a tweeter account make sure you know what you are promoting just visit the website or contest and check what kind of platform they want to promote.

No. I don't touch them because it is waste of my time. You have to search depend on luck and sometimes you have to promote scam projects when you do not realize they are scam.

I don't say I am smarter than scammers or anyone else.

Airdrops and Giveaways are on my ignore list. I'm not interested in them because I know that they aren't profitable anymore not like ICO's time.
If I saw a tweet giveaway nor airdrop, most likely I skip and continue scrolling down. Probably it might be helpful if you retweet and put "hashtag Fakegiveaways", or it would be better if you dont mind them, but if people are vigilant enough, they will not fall into the trap.

Just avoid the free offering these days, there's no really free money on the internet. For sure a clickbait that might lure the naive, lazy, and greedy people. It's totally wasting your time.

Should I say that this giveaway is fake, legit, or finally"MAYBE"?

We better stop assuming that giveaways or airdrops are worth to try nor to participate with. We know already that they are just a waste of time and why we should have to participate? But most people are greedy enough and they keep embracing this kind of activity because of money. They never listen, nor they learn from their experience. How this reality will soon be realized and change so there is no way that many we're still be fooled.

@sheenshane you're right...better to ignore them than being stupid of our curiosity just to know if it was legit or fake. We don't need that word MAYBE because it will create temptation.

You can also avoid scam by just simply checking the twitter account that runs that giveaway a verified icon on twitter account will help. But I hope the biggest twitter hacked before will not happen again. Big names in crypto industry their twitter account is hacked, doing and offering some easy money scheme, double your money or similar. The lesson is, we need to verify first, don't fall for this easy money scheme we should think first why they do such things maybe their account is compromise, dont be greedy. I only joined giveaways from binance, okex and other reputable exchanges and wallets by doing that you can avoid  scam and fake ones.

When participating in an airdrop may it be on Twitter or any social media space, don't send any amount of Btc or ETH.  In that way you'll save yourself from being scammed.
While I have seen a lot of giveaways in twitter (mostly offers a $100 worth of Btc) just to retweet and tag some friends, I dont know how it works and I don't know if it's legit I haven't participated into this, some might be fake and some are legit. But then again never send any amount to their addresses, that's where you get scammed.

If it's too good to be true, don't join, if it requires you to put out money before getting something, don't join it, if it requires you to reveal private information, don't join it. Those are usually the warning signs that a giveaway is a scam. It's rather easy to see it tbh. It's called a giveaway because all you'd be needing to do is to provide them advertisement (retweets, subs, likes, etc.), and providing them money doesn't make it a "giveaway" anymore, it's more like a promo or something.

Or you can just totally ignore any types of such stuff, they don't give out much if they're legit, and if they're fake, you're just damaging your own funds instead of actually increasing them. As for twitter giveaways, I have my experience with them though I haven't won anything. If they're asking for retweets and follows, as long as I see it, I try it out, but anything that goes past that is a pass for me.

If they're picking a random winner from the retweets, there's really no way to tell because this is a legitimate marketing tactic. New businesses do campaigns like this all the time instead of actually spending on advertisements. Whether or not they actually give away the reward is totally dependent on the business itself, but these are usually 100% safe apart from wasting your and your friends' time.

if it requires you to reveal private information, don't join it

Some legitimate airdrops actually do require KYC though, so that's not necessarily a red flag. I would say they're never worth it considering what strangers could do with your information, but it's ultimately up to the person if they feel the reward is worth the risk.

Unless the owner of the account is a known person and the account is really his (with the blue check mark) there's a very big chance the giveaway is fake.
It's a quite known method for a few days/months old accounts to artificially boost the number of followers, since most don't bother to unfollow and report.
Yeah, that boosting is pretty relevant in many scams, they make it look like they gather a following, almost fallen for one when I was still a noobie, good thing I have friends whom I can consult with regards to that, good thing that I followed what they said as most of those who have fallen wasted their money, time and effort.

To find fake giveaways or scandalous airdrops on Twitter you have to follow different websites and try to stay away from hashtags. These turn into more scams and IDs are often suspended these accounts in hashtags collectively try to exploit this platform for their own benefit. it is more important to pay attention to the old accounts and if the owner of the account is the person himself, then there is a high possibility of spreading fake nets.

This hashtag will help only if those giveaways/airdrops are already reported.

My recommendation is not to find fake giveaways, prevent looking giveaways on twitter. If you can't prevent, follow big followers twitter pages that share legit giveaways/airdrops.  And if the giveaways need some input or something that may risk your identity don't attempt to risk yours for a small amount.

After seeing your reply I felt that you are one smart guy when dealing with airdops and giveaways. I also assume you have not encountered those scams yet. Till then remain smart and if something goes wrong in the future then remember these words

There some people in the world who are more smarter, intelligent and cunning than you.
No. I don't touch them because it is waste of my time. You have to search depend on luck and sometimes you have to promote scam projects when you do not realize they are scam.

I don't say I am smarter than scammers or anyone else.

Not all airdrops are bad you just need to find the right one.

For example BAT airdrop, Atomic Wallet airdrop, BTT airdrop and there are many others. You need to participate in airdrops for projects that are already established or being traded in exchanges.

What @pakhitheboss has suggested is another way to find out fake airdrops and giveaway scams on twitter.
