These are the 10 ways for increasing your phone battery life

1) Turn off GPS, Automatic Wifi and Bluetooth

Even though location and Bluetooth are very helpful they should be turned off as they continue consuming battery even when they are not in use. Similar features such as automatic wifi will keep looking for wifi connection even when the option is turned-off. The automatic Wifi setting should be turned off manually.

2) Restrict background battery usage for all unnecessary apps

It is very important to take notice of which apps use most resource. Many of these apps keep using battery even when they are closed and individually stopping them is quite a hassle. But fixing the battery usage permissions for all apps than granting these permissions for only the very crucial apps is the best choice.

3) Turn off auto-updates and auto-sync

Most of the smartphones will always try to give the user the latest version of everything for the phones to avoid all previous errors and bugs. Turn off processes which automatically start without user confirmation like auto-updates for apps and auto-sync for storage to the cloud. As these processes of auto-updates and auto-sync will use a lot of battery, If it happens at the wrong time it is surely going to cost major resource. So avoid this setting, also choose a time for updating your phone once a week or any suitable time for this option is much better.

4) Dark theme for OLED screens

The displays of the phones use more of the battery than any other processes in the phone. So minimizing this is highly beneficial for the battery. One advantage OLED screens have is that each pixel is of its own i.e, darker images don’t require the entire screen to use the power but rather only the pixels that are in use. This means using the dark theme for all the apps will help to increase the battery life of the phone.

5) Disable adaptive brightness

The most obvious thing is to lower the brightness but other mini-features such as adaptive brightness keep working even when they don’t need to. It may be sensors in some phones or cameras in others the phone. They keep checking the surrounding lighting to provide a suitable level of brightness. But during a constant setting where there would be no such actual changes this feature is useless. And also other such features like screen sleep mode should be optimized for the battery.

6) Turn off widgets and animated wallpapers

Widgets are really useful for the weather forecast, news and other stuff. But they do use a lot of resources so its best to remove them. Same goes with aesthetic things such as animated wallpapers or skinned wallpapers these are some unnecessary things that will highly impact the battery. When it comes to saving battery life, these are the most often overlooked setting.

7) Enable power save mode as much as possible

Almost all of the current smartphones have the “Power save mode“. In iOS there is a feature is called “Low Power Mode“. This will cut down all the downloads, animations and brightness, which will help to increase iPhone‘s battery life. These modes are mainly are for the overall power saving purpose. Every model of phone has its own kind of power save mode with different rules some turn off all background battery usage, while some won’t let you play background media.

Cool Turn off background data usage for all apps

Whenever you’re surfing the internet many websites ask to store stuff on your phones as cookies or cache. These are what the browser keeps checking on.
Similarly, many other apps will try to keep in touch with the main servers of their own company using the internet. This drains the power of the battery from the phones unless the permissions for the apps for data usage has been set otherwise.
hence it is a good practice to be aware which apps are allowed to use data in the background.

9) Never let the device heat up too much

Any amount of heating either from external sources or from the phone is bad. It is very important to not let the battery overheat weather from using it too much or from the direct sunlight. In any case, the overheating will severely impact the battery and will cause a fast discharge. In some cases even worse can happen like the complete battery malfunction. Which ends up messing with the battery percentage shown on the screen. This could go upto a point where on the screen it would show you 20% of battery remaining but in reality, the battery has lower than 5%.

10) Search for a better way to do important tasks

Be aware of the tasks which take place and look for alternatives which are battery friendly. Such as using the lite versions of apps instead of the actual full version as they consume less resource. Since chrome can consume a lot of ram and battery, if you need to open some internet links you can use lite version browsers. In the Samsung Galaxy phones, there is an extra mode for battery saving called “maximum power saving” which completely stops all processes on the phones except the essential tasks like calling and messaging. Researching the particular model of the phone will surely provide many ways to optimise battery usage and different phones have different features.

What I have noticed with my Huawei smartphone. I've experimented with a 100% battery and then left it locked with an open wifi connection. It didn't drain that much honestly.

I think it depends on the manufacturer and brand.
