If I want to post about a bitcoin meetup in my area, or look at bitcoin meetups close or relevant to me, it'd be difficult to find them.

Major Countries could each have their own Subforum

And the US could either be divided into regions, or states.

Everything not included (countries not listed), could be in a separate category and the rules could be updated to allow only major and well organized events to be posted both in the subforum and the main forum (directing to the subforum).

I don't know how difficult it would be to moderate, there's probably a good reason it's not already that way. I'd like it if the section were actually usable though.

Bitcoin meetups are not that active that it will need childboard.  If there were meetups every now and then and people were posting here a lots, it would be necessary to have child boards. It now does not make any sense to have different child board.

I mean the whole concept of "meetup" is a middle-finger to the "pseudo-anonymous" nature of bitcoin. Like if a middle class average Joe would be going there, and telling everyone who they are, the are going to be robbed one fine day if they own a decent amount. It is as simple as that.

For the traditional funding methods we have seen big venture capitalists have a party somewhere remote with private invites and end up with a 1% on their investment.

Surely the concept of meetups could be extrapolated to digital versions where you can "meetup" from home. But child boards? Seems like a hard pass to me.

Meh, I'm completely fine with bitcoin meetups as it's going to be completely optional for people to attend it anyway. It's not like we're forced to attend. But yea, there sure are privacy concerns.

As for a child boards for this, completely unnecessary as it will most likely be a dead section.

Such idea is mostly dumped and/or cliche. Even theymos wouldn't be bothered making another local board for meet-ups alone as Local Boards itself can be a medium. If ever you are pertaining to countries within the US, it can be done alone in the Bitcoin Meetups alone. Another way is to look for either a telegram group or a discord server that the users near you are joining.

And Little Mouse is right, there are no usual activities in that board to have an update for a child board.

A child board is not necessary in my opinion as the meet up board is not very active at the moment and breaking it into regions would further spread the little activity the board generates. I would however not mind if the board had a little more information, some people might be interested in organizing a Meetup but don't know where to start. A stickie thread that gives info on how to start, the format to use as well as the dos and don'ts could be very helpful.

I mean the whole concept of "meetup" is a middle-finger to the "pseudo-anonymous" nature of bitcoin. Like if a middle class average Joe would be going there, and telling everyone who they are, the are going to be robbed one fine day if they own a decent amount. It is as simple as that.
I've heard of meet and greets being organized for blog owners who are mostly anonymous. It depends on the audience (choosing the people you expose your identity to) and also is a personal decision (whether or or not to go).

If I want to post about a bitcoin meetup in my area, or look at bitcoin meetups close or relevant to me, it'd be difficult to find them.
it can be done by the admin/forum owner, if it is necessary to discuss 'Bitcoin meetings.

However, I don't think it's necessary...!

If you would like to post, about local Greek "Bitcoin meetings": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=120.0, main board discussion, is a good step and good if you do, no need to add the board that the OP wants.

I also saw in another local, they also use the main discussion board to discuss about Bitcoin etc.

I think for now, any local main board, it's best to discuss the matter, but it all depends on your local mod request to the Admin to add it, but not sure, but who knows anything can happen unexpectedly.

Pseudo- anonymity is just one feature of Bitcoin, and is not that important to me. I would love to attend a few informal meet-ups rather than formal conferences.

Yeah, another sub for meetups isn't needed. That board already isn't that popular, and if you wanted to organise local meet ups you could do them in their own Local board.

I mean the whole concept of "meetup" is a middle-finger to the "pseudo-anonymous" nature of bitcoin.

It's just a gathering for like-minded individuals. Wear a mask or tell everyone you're Satoshi Nakamoto... or Craig Wright if you're worried about anonymity. Simply walking down the street doesn't expose you much like attending a conference wouldn't unless you make yourself a target for some reason.

Like if a middle class average Joe would be going there, and telling everyone who they are, the are going to be robbed one fine day if they own a decent amount. It is as simple as that.

I think you're a little paranoid. Unless you go around telling everyone your name and address and have millions in bitcoin I think it's unlikely you'll be a target or a robbery. If this was a genuine threat of theft there are bigger targets at a bitcoin conference than you, and fairly famous ones who you will know have a lot of money.

Agreed, I don't think I'm that fond of mass gatherings, and structured days. I'd rather have a casual outing, and maybe the possibility of joining in on activities if I wanted too. My idea of a Bitcoin meetup might be totally wrong though, I tend to think its going to be like comic con, when in reality its probably just a pub meetup, and a general get together. I'm not sure if going to a meetup would even be that exciting unless, you had some interesting people there to make it interesting. If its just to talk about Bitcoin to your local community, then there's the forum for that.

Yeah, I guess it's unnecessary. I'm in the US by the way, So I thought it'd be nice to be able to click my state and see meetups that are happening or that have happened in my state.

There's other avenues for that, and I guess I could just search through the board even if it's not divided or categorized.

... see meetups that are happening or that have happened in my state.
AFAIK, the WO Gang or the Collectors (correct me if I'm wrong) are doing these kind of thigs in the past,... but of you're talking about like meetups for various traders / miners / cryptousers just like what Binance are doing then I do sugget to check some of the companies, but right now it would be impossible,...
And as for this child board, it rarely happens so it doesn't need to have one, besides all of us are on different countries so meetings would be rare and be less to be discussed.

It wouldn't be difficult to moderate, but it wouldn't be necessary as well. One question to argue your suggestion is "would you want to know your identity and with your username in the forum?". This forum is made with pure anonymity and meeting such people that would know your real personal name and info would be a risk not only to your personal life but also to your identity per se and the account here in forum that you've worked hard for.

But have you also asked, why does off-topic board doesn't have it's own child board? If you answered on it, then it would be the same reason as for your suggestion.
