SelfieYo Chat is an application available for Android and iPhone. It's sort of like a cross between Instagram, Tinder and Yelp. We focus on local photos, local videos, local chat rooms and places to go around you. We believe location is a core, natural social graph with a lot of room for fun innovation. That's where the new SelfieYo Gold (SGT) token comes in.
SGT is an in-app rewards and payment token that's live on Ethereum. SGT is the in-app cryptocurrency that allows users to get paid for making themselves part of the local, social network on SelfieYo.
There are initially two main parts to how SelfieYo Gold (SGT) is usable on SelfieYo Chat:- Users can require payment to receive private messages from people nearby.
- Users can send tips in the form of SGT to anyone nearby or friends in their contacts.
After carefully studying the social dynamics of popular dating and social media apps, we realized that the amount of inbound unsolicited messages can be overwhelming for many participants. By enabling optional requirements for crypto payments, popular users can not only filter out junk by never receiving it in the first place, they can participate in the value creation of SelfieYo by receiving SelfieYo Gold from users that are trying to establish private conversations.
It is important to note that SelfieYo Chat works independently of SGT and that SGT is a set of crypto-feature add-ons designed to enhance the experience and add value to users that choose to participate in the SelfieYo Gold rewards system. Blockchain, and Ethereum in particular, presented the perfect mechanism for SGT to serve as a bona fide, immutable store of social value as it relates to ones participation in sharing great content on SelfieYo to your local feed.
There is an earlier version of SGT on mainnet called SelfieYo Gold Token (SGT). This token was never distributed beyond internal test accounts. We ultimately decided that the structure of the initial SGT did not make sense for the SelfieYo app and the new SGT for 2020 was designed not for the ICO world or investors, but for in-app purchases, in-app uses and future expansion to additional location-based services.
