Solved : Help with electrum wanted needed : Android version

Hello,

I was outside today and wanted to try out things on my mobile device. I decided to try out electrum on my android device and installed it. A few unusual occurences happened.

Selected the android version. It took me to the play Store.

Downloaded the app and installed it. Everything was fine untill then.

I selected standard wallet > I already have a seed > entered my seed.

After I entered my seed, even when it is complete, the next option does not appear and also the enter or push to next function does not work in android. Just to check if the problem is only on the android device that I use or the android software or the electrum itself, I downloaded electrum on my laptop a while ago, used the same seed and it works fine.

My issue is the next function/button does not appear whatsoever. I have emailed the contact that I found from thier Google playstore page about the same.



As you can see, even though the seed is full, the next option does not give me access to it. I tried my seed, random seeds, random words, everything I could to see if it will appear take me to the next step, it is just not happening for some reason. The software on the laptop seems to works fine, I have checked it. So now, there must some issue on my device or I must be doing something wrong or the android app itself might have some bug or glitch.

If you have faced the same or are facing the same and have any possible solutions, then please post here.

Not sure what went wrong. Do you select BIP39 seed in your Laptop version?



If yes then you may try to click on the setting icon next to Enter your seed phrase text on the above screen. You may find the option I guess.

PS: Would you mind moving the topic to Electrum section? You will find right people to assist you.

IIRC I think I had this issue (not really an issue if it's the same with what I experienced) some weeks ago, I think when I was trying to put in my seed to import my wallet on my Android phone, I tapped on the message box (that box where your seed appears) before typing my seed with the virtual keyboard and the option to move forward (next option) didn't appear. When you get to type your seed, just input with the virtual keyboard presented on your screen without tapping on the message box first, just try that and see, I'm not too sure.

Yes, exactly the same issue, tried what you told doesn't seem to work, how did you get it fixed or abandoned it ?

I know you are having problem with your android version. The example I showed to point you the BIP 39 seed. Do you use this option when you restore the wallet in the desktop version? If yes then you will need to find the same option in the android version too.

I think there's something missing, not sure what but try this

In the "Enter your seed phrase" page do you see that setting Icon on the top right? Click on it and check the "BiP 39" option and try again entering your seed and see if it works. Check if the addresses generated are the same addresses you expect

Can you make a double-check to the words of your seed?

I recently getting trouble the same with you earlier and I'm just using a standard wallet and when I try to input my seed is the next button is disable I try to reinstall the application and it works all fine.

Base on my experience some cause of this is

Incomplete seed phrase. - the next is disable until your seed phrase are incomplete
Slow response of the application. - they have a slow response even on pop up keyboard too.

protrader786, is this seed created with Electrum wallet or some other wallet? There can't be much reason why the next button is disabled when you type seed - other than that the seed is incorrect or one of the following :

Note: If the seed words are from another wallet, like the blockchain.info wallet, Bither or Mycelium, then you have to press options and check bip39. If the seed words are from Bither wallet then make sure you replace the hyphens in the seed phrase with spaces. It should display ‘BIP39 checksum OK” next to the options button when you’ve entered a valid bip39 seed mnemonic.

Thank you for all the replies. What worked for me is that I had to check the BIP39 box. The original seed was not from electrum itself but from a different source. After I selected the BIP39 and entered the seed, I could flawlessly proceed and choose the script derivation and path in the next step.
