Why topic that is reported as plagiarism was deleted?

I did not archive his plagiarism.

It is possible that the user deleted the post before the moderator handled that report. SquirrelJulietGarden, if by chance you have the opportunity to view your report history (you need to have 300 reports for that) by clicking on any post -> report to moderator, it would be interesting to see if the post was deleted by the user himself or the moderator.

I personally had a case where I reported plagiarism, the post was deleted, but the user was not banned - it was a copy/paste of an article from one news portal without a source link. In some cases, moderators will not consider it plagiarism - but someone still found more plagiarized posts from same user, so he gets perma ban.

Copy and paste, no source is plagiarism. Sometimes members can say  they forget to leave source. I can sympathize.

This one is different. Copy, paste, no source, and apply it to get merit. Began to post burst after get one merit. That member knows what he did.

Sorry, I was thinking on posts, not topic - my mistake. I am not sure is it possible in all boards, but as far I know post can be deleted after 24 hours - but at any time it can be edited (something removed/added).

In this particular case, we will have to wait for the answer of the one who deleted the topic.

SquirrelJulietGarden, I can understand your indignation. But you also need to understand a few rules in order for your plagiarism reports to be executed correctly.
Always create an archive first. This will be ironclad proof. Then post everything as clearly as possible for the moderators. For example, you met plagiarism. And also you have the source. The original must necessarily have an earlier publication date than the plagiarized post you found.
You publish your report on the topic, and then be sure to submit a report to the moderators for the post with plagiarism, and provide a link to your investigation.
I can say that the moderators work very efficiently. You should always understand that the last word, whether to punish or not, will remain with them. This must be understood and accepted calmly.

OP, it looks like you reported that member's plagiarism in the "Report Plagiarism" thread, but did you hit the "report to moderator" button as well?  I don't know how often mods check that thread, and I would think that reporting an instance of plagiarism (or any other rule infraction) would be more efficiently handled if it were reported directly to the moderators. 

Either way, it's good you did find the copy-pasting and acted on it.  It's more than most members would do.

I reported that user with Report to moderator. What happened after that makes me surprised. The topic was deleted.

yes, users can't delete topics but can edit it before it has been reported. Reporting plagiarized post should be done before alerting the owner of the post if it is needed. In my case since I have too notice some plagiarized posts but I get to them sometimes if I have some time through PM telling them that they could get ban by copy and pasting posts or replies from other users, from a blog and article without including the reference in the post.

Mostly users do copy and paste posts here, from blogs and articles from outside had really no idea that they could  get ban by plagiarism. There are many of this kind of user in the forum and time will come that moderators will ban them. Let just hope that this kind of problem(plagiarism will be stop or minimize at least.
