There are thousands transactions like this one:

Can someone explain me why do these people choose to burn their coins? It's obvious that these addresses cannot be generated.

Someone looks to be performing a dust attack while passing on an encoded message using the first key strings that don't look like real addresses. The remaining addresses that follow are real

As far as I can remember, there was one company, (https://vivigle.com/) and this is the address that they've used: 1ViViGLEawN27xRzGrEhhYPQrZiTKvKLo

It used to spam 546 satoshis, for their promotions as analytics company. And if you look at what @Bitcoin_Arena discovered, this is interesting:

Code:
memo dot sv

So probably this is sort of advertisement again. But I would say that it is not going to be effective because like the OP it will just confused those people who are going to get this 547 sats.

Code:
 https://memo.sv/

Nothing to worry though, it will simply stop.

What the team needs is a little attention for their social app. I cannot tell whether the team behind this social network site is the same team behind Bitcoin SV but it is apparent that they are hard fans of this shitcoin.

Well, they got their attention. Some people must have visited memo.sv due to this unique way of advertising, although they are not the first to do this.

Eventually, they will. The same is true with BSV and its blockchain.

That's the minimum amount of Bitcoins that has to be included in the output for it not to be rejected by the reference client.

In this case, they are usually used for advertisement, though normally included within the OP_return of the transaction. It's possible for them to be used for anonymity breaking attacks; consolidation of these dust to a specific address could compromise the identity of the user.

As we can see is the cheap way to spread a message on the network, and this will become more common in the future, since the network is public information then why isn't a good idea to use it to promote a business?

I'm against spam but this is a smart way to do it, is like investing in google adds but this campaign will last for ever Wink

It's not beneficial for Bitcoin. It creates unnecessary spam on the network and wastes the precious space in the Blockchain. It's no doubt cheaper than traditional marketing campaigns but it is definitely not as effective and most of the coins would just go to waste.

So probably this is sort of advertisement again.

i don't know how effective such silly ways of advertising is though because the only way people are going to hear about their nonsense services is that if someone posts about it on a forum (like this topic lol), and the topics die soon. but then again they could have easily spammed about it themselves without any cost to achieve the same goal.

I don't think this is a effective method to advertise anything related to bitcoin. On the contrary, I think this is more on a bitcoin sv (because of the domain name I guess) kind of method, so definitely it will back fire on them big time. And it will just added to the list on why not to trust the project or the people behind it, good riddance.

I'm against spam but this is a smart way to do it, is like investing in google adds but this campaign will last for ever Wink

I disagree though, it's not that smart if you are going to advertise in lieu of spamming the bitcoin network unless you want to hit two birds with one stone here and since I'm guessing this comes from BSV, it's pretty obvious what their true intentions are.

We can see that someone says that it is complicated and he really don't know what is this about. They better just spent their money like google ads you said or press release or something.

It's not gonna attract a lot of customers, but it also doesn't cost them much - just the network fees minus some dust. So, in terms of costs, it's pretty effective.

Someone looks to be performing a dust attack while passing on an encoded message using the first key strings that don't look like real

I don't think this qualifies as a dust attack, they are sending dust to some burner addresses, and they don't have any intention to spam the network. So, no tracking or dosing the network is happening here.

I still remember the huge amount of dust spam that I received in my wallets in 2012 (when I first created a Bitcoin wallet and joined Bitcointalk). It was slightly different. The spammers would send BTC0.0001 or so (back then, valued at around $0.0005 or 0.05 cents each) along with a spam message with a link to some ponzi/pyramid scheme. I used to ignore all those messages. But when the Bitcoin exchange rates rose, I was able to make a profit from these spam transactions.

Yes, it is BSV.

If you go to  https://memo.sv/  on the right you'll see "all on the BSV network"
It's not clickable so it doesn't lead anywhere but it's the same with other ones that were supposed to be links. The sire is not finished and they all don't work.
Anyway the first thread in "posts" is: Why BSV? Why not BCH?

I hope they keep doing it for another year and burn a million dollars. A million Craig could spend at his lawsuits.

It only digs SV's grave even deeper in the ground as a desperate attempt to get more people into their scammy coin. That's how effective it is, so just let them continue doing so. Cheesy

I thought @Bitcoin_Arena's illustration is already clear and @Kemarit's follow up made it even clearer.

To put it simply, the person responsible for sending 547 satoshis to different addresses is trying to advertise his/her own forum called memo.sv
Check each address the sender used and you will notice the words in it (this part is highlighted here).

Today BSV troll deletes all posts in his thread and writes a message to Theymos for help in Meta and someone spams bitcoin clockchain promoting BSV.

I don't think it's cheap or cost effective. They are sending a message through the bitcoin Network and what I am more than sure about is than a lot of Bitcoiners don't like the BSV shitcoin so it's a waste of time for them. Yes the message is going to stay but who's going to dig through such spammy transactions 2-3 years from now?
Sending the message through the BSV network transactions would have been much smarter.

Today BSV troll deletes all posts in his thread and writes a message to Theymos for help in Meta and someone spams bitcoin clockchain promoting BSV.
The vary people who despise Bitcoin and bitcointalk still continue to stick around and spam the hell out of them in a bid to advertise BSV. Weird, isn't it?

i don't know how effective such silly ways of advertising is though because the only way people are going to hear about their nonsense services is that if someone posts about it on a forum (like this topic lol), and the topics die soon. but then again they could have easily spammed about it themselves without any cost to achieve the same goal.
It only digs SV's grave even deeper in the ground as a desperate attempt to get more people into their scammy coin. That's how effective it is, so just let them continue doing so. Cheesy

nah, its just a shitcoin that will continue to exist for a long time and keep filling the pockets of certain people. otherwise we know it is a shitcoin, everyone else with a brain knows it, even those strongly backing these shitcoins know it like Ver and Wright. it's just that these shitcoins (BCH and BSV) were created for them to make a ton of money. for instance Ver increased his revenue by a lot thanks to bcash, his mining pool, the exchange, marketplace, and a lot more all started giving him more profit. same with the scammer Wright.

the day these shitcoins die, they just move on to making money in another way. that's why BSV was created, the revenue wasn't satisfying to CSW so he created a new shitocin. that is why another fork is being shaped this day because some (abc team) are not satisfied with the revenue and want to create their own shitcoin.
