I am no IT guy so i can't go through the code of a project to see if its good or not an i also don't have enough time and/or energy to spend hours every day trying to get the latest infos about the numerous new projects that emerge everyday.
I am part of a investment pool group in telegram and whenever a new project is talked about there or wanted for a pool and i look into that project. If i like it and there is a pool offered i try to participate. After a certain amount of time, you know that specific users always have good projects that they bring up.

I have had a hard time dealing with overload lately. I understand you perfectly, a lot of projects appear, "old", well-proven projects are being updated. Changing activities helps me a little, just to distract a little from the flow of information and move away from the computer.

Being careful in terms of investment is very necessary to anticipate losses, we have to study and filter various information and offers that are always tempting apart from that, we also have to take risks with our choice of freelance and I personally always choose new projects that get the most attention and conversation but it would be better if we quickly made a decision so as not to be left with a big opportunity that could change a fate.

Usually, when it comes to cryptocurrency investments, I go through the following steps

1) General research to find out about any new coins to invest in
2) Preliminary research to see if the coin is legit or worth investing in
3) Ongoing research to find out market events that can impact a coin's price

Step 2 is rather straight forward but the one I have an issue with is #1 and #3. There is just so much information going around that I end up just sticking to the tried and tested ones like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.

Do you guys have any suggestions or workflows on how to tackle information overload?

For me, a great indicator of the future success of the project is the fact of great interest in the project from large investors on the presale. Another good indicator is the lack of a bounty campaign for this project on the Bitcointalk forum.

If you have an eye on a number of projects just choose the best platform where to get the latest update. There are many platforms where you can get this information such as twitter, telegram, Reddit and etc. You don't have to have all the details but just a grasp of important information, and whether if the project is really gaining attention and has a good marketing strategy and future plans.

I don't make things more complicated, I only invest on good project and of course, that project is worth searching for. This is a must to have strategies every time we invest because this is our money and we all want to make profit on our investments.

If you think the information is already too much for you, just take a rest or better if you are already decided just invest on it and have faith or your judgement. Investing is not an easy decision, you may find it hard but as long as you have strategies and you follow it, there's a higher chance of making profit.

I also do the same as you, but in the final decision, I will definitely ask my friend who is first into the crypto world and ask his opinion, whether this coin is worthy or not. if not I also ask in the community. So in essence, after doing my research, I need more consideration. especially if you are investing in large amounts, you need to be more careful.

number 2 is more harder than 1 and 3 because this where you research deeply and as a project they will try thier best to look like they are among of the good and legit . number 1 like you said is general , you can easily find infos for the coin by a single search on google and 3 is also easy because you will only need to follow thier channels and social media to recieve updates  . it will only becomes hard if you are investing on more than one or two coins  .  you choice is also good if you want to escape all those hassel .

#1 is indeed hard to do since you might get along with those coins that were just for hypes and then ended up just getting dumped after the price surged up.
Sometimes I don't do number 3, because there are biased news articles and I don't want to believe to false claims/reports. Waste of money as well as my time.

Too much incoming information causes confusion to analyze the truth and makes you hesitate to make choices to avoid things like that it's better to look for information on reliable sources that have been widely used by many people, Don't be influenced by the words of people who are not necessarily true
