Reporting suspected fraud in a crypto project

I have been wondering is there a institution or a address where one can report if suspects a foul play in crypto world.

Of course, when the project has an announcement thread you can report it to DT members and they will tag this project as a probable scam. Also, you can check where the project is registered and contact local authorities to initiate an investigation. But, we know, that 90% of all scams weren´t punished.

Legal action or just want to warn everyone the project it's a scam, for legal action i think depending on the law country and residence country the scammer live. If you just want to give some warning the project its a scam, you can go to the "Scam Assumption" board and make a thread about the scam project.

The proof can be anything as long its suspicious from the project, i.e:

• Copy-paste content (plagiarism)
• Fake team
• Creating and share malware wallets

Scam accusation is also an effective board to report when you have enough evidences related to an individual/project/service platform.

If you are wanna reporting it and make an awareness for others and just try to make your scam accusation thread but if that's about reporting the scam projects to the institution and i think that you can also sign a report to your local institution. I remember US investors have already reported so many scam projects to the SEC.

The scammers who have created those projects have already jailed or pay fine to the SEC and refund all of money or they will be getting jailed.

There's no proper way of reporting it unless the project is registered to any country and if it's verified, you may take actions by reporting it to the local police for them to check them.

But in the forum, you can raise awareness to warn others with the section that has been mentioned for scams.

You can report on this forum, at least you've helped reduce scammed projects and marked red paint for them. on the one hand, I don't know exactly how to report them so that they can be processed according to the applicable law, because if I'm not mistaken there are still many countries that haven't legalized crypto so it's quite difficult to imprison scamers.

I think this is not what OP need. These suggestions are only for this forum, which really got limitation.
I think what OP needs is some government authorities or any accredited by government that will govern the cryptocurrency, just like what @CuriousGeorge, which is the SEC.
Yes, we can report some of these on SEC, but most of the time SEC got no any chance to take down this kind of fraud especially in our country which all they can do is publish some advisories and notices for some fraud related activities especially using cryptocurrencies.

The OP should be willing to spend his own resources if he is willing to push thru the filing of fraudulent project.
Because the reason why there are failed complaints, because most of these complainants gave up because of lack of resources and financial support.
Reporting is quite easy but going beyond legal proceedings will take a lot of your resources.
Now, if you have no resources in the first place, just report the site to google as scam site or here in the forum, to avoid additional victims.

For legal action? I doubt it's possible, most teams in crypto projects are either anonymous or fake teams so I doubt you can get them, getting their IP's seem like a waste of resources as well since it'd most likely end up in a fake IP, so the best you can do would be to inform the public of what's wrong with the project with the facts you found. It might be better to arrange it in a way most people would be able to view it even in different platforms,. I'd say a document but most wouldn't download it due to fear of being sent malware. Don't take others being scammed as your fault, it's actually their own fault for not doing enough research before joining in said project.

In this community? We have the Scam Accusations. But outside? I don't think there is a legal body that you can report. Probably US SEC but it will take some time for them to take actions. Some of the scams that was uncovered in 2017-2018, was just being tackled by US government this year so there is a lag time in between.

The thing is that crypto is decentralized by itself, so no body to really take care of these foul plays and ongoing scams.

Same question also in my mind if is there any group/channel that can detect a very suspicious fraud/fake project so that it can lessen or it can eridicate bogus and scam crypto project because if there is, it will really be helpful and be healthier for the crypto community. Anyway let us hope that there will be a group/channel for is very soon.

If you are having local authorities and you might have known where you will go to report the scam projects.

In so many cases, the investors who have already scammed were reporting the scam project to the local authorities and then the local authorities will try to create cooperation with the Interpol to detect the scammers. If the scam project based on your country and that will be so easy to report it but remember when it was getting located abroad of your country and what you need to do to create awareness for the community to make people who have been coming from such country will try to report it,

The police will be the first place you should go.
It is always better to have a written report first. Somehow, that will back up your statement when a possible hearing happens.
First to come will have a higher chance of winning.
