What happened: [ DRK Defi] suspicions whitepaper contains plagiarized content

Scammers Profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2853342

bounty Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277035.0

Whitepaper Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mHtV50CktdFCyD_NaH370sZ8sOBehgce/view

Are you serious ? you position yourself as a good company and can't define what blockchain is in your own words ?? in the screenshot below, the entire article is copied

further we can see from the screenshots that the information was taken from the site https://blockspace.info/754-2/

I checked only half of the white paper I don't see any point in checking further

Now the next thing to do is to check the rest of the whitepaper. Just the blockchain part can be copied and this does not immediately mean the rest of the paper is copied. Since the description of blockchain is present and copied from other places does not mean the project to be directly a scam, though I am not shoving off that possibility.

Another way to explain what I say is that someone can copy the Bitcoin whitepaper pages and post a few pages on their whitepaper as "What is Bitcoin" - as an introductory page to their whitepaper. Now Bitcoin is open-source and allowed to be copied. Other project whitepapers are not.

In other words, the rest of the whitepaper needs to be checked and accordingly declared scam or not.

I found some additional plagiarized parts. They basically reworded an idea called "Delegated Proof of Reputation" as "Proof of Honor." It's a major part of their project.

From the white paper:

Quote
DRKchain considers each blockchain as a mini Internet architecture and each node as a website. Obviously, the Internet is a perfect decentralized environment. How do we search for information contained in millions of websites. PageRank is a well-known algorithm that Google uses for its Search Engine. The rationale behind ranking is that connection and linkages make value of any network. A node within a network is important somehow if there are linkages that refer to it. More referring linkages, more important a node seems to be. Among millions of web-pages, relative importance of a page is evaluated by hyperlinks referring to it. PageRank mathematically models web pages as vertices and hyperlinks as edges of a directed graph, then applies an algorithm to score pages based on their edge graph, higher score, better importance. In general, the importance of a web-page is based on its content (its real value), and is fairly evaluated by PageRank. This is similar to a node in a blockchain, its value can be measured by its transactions.

From blockspace.info:

They also copied content about ring signatures from a project called Incognito, and they also copied ideas about confidential Ethereum transactions from a project called AZTEC.

There's hardly any content on their website, no team, and no roadmap. This project seems like an outright scam to me. Absolutely no originality, just another copy/paste DeFi project.

I checked not only the part from the blockchain, I checked the very end in parts, I wouldn't just send it

Very good @nutildah and @Shef198911,

The next step would be to open a Type 1 Flag against the representative account. Suggest the OP to do the same and follow this in any future reports.

There is no doubt that this project is a scam and will continue to fool some innocent people into losing their money. The flag will give a banner shaped warning to both logged in and logged out users.

Additionally I will put some red paint on the account. I hope other DT members will support and tag the account too.

One last thing -- the link to the flag:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2345

It is active already so there's not much else to be done. I think the bounty hunters are going to be wasting their time, perhaps hoping to sell some tokens even knowing its likely to be a scam. But what's equally as likely is the tokens are never worth anything or they don't get anything at all. The warning signs are now in place for them to see so if they ignore them, well, it's their loss.

@Shef198911 this was a good find, keep up the good work and don't hesitate to do the same for other projects you find to be scammy.

After I read DRK white paper carefully, I realize that PoH is not a plagiarized part. You can read this paper "Delegated Proof of Reputation: a Novel Blockchain Consensus" carefully to get more information. As I understand, DPoR and PoH is the same consensus algorithm. They both use Hodge Rank to ranking blockchain node. In my opinion, the main difference between DPoR and PoH is the DPoR will choose top-n voted-delegates to become the block producer who validate transaction, create new blocks and maintain the network and the PoH is not.  In simpler terms, DPoR ~ DPoS and PoH ~ PoS but they use another ranking algorithm.  Moreover, page 13 of Draken White paper, they reference Delegated Proof of Reputation: a Novel Blockchain Consensus so I strongly believe PoH ~ DPoS but DPoS can be considered as "semi-decentralization" and PoH is totally decentralization. Honestly, I not sure DRK project is the scam project or not but the introduced ecosystem impressed me very much. I don't know when they release DRKakao maybe it gonna be the amazed dapp.

Until now I still see many people promoting this project, if this project is a scam, why don't those who promote it get red trust Huh I don't even see any defense from the team regarding this thread

They are probably bots and users who don't care about any warnings. They don't even care if they are paid by the scammers or not but if you are willing to help list all users who are promoting the project in this  thread. I Will tag them.

It took a long time to collect usernames, but we already know that projects with neg-trust do not need to be followed even though they pay using TRX, but I'm not sure if the DRK token will be paid so it needs more consideration, I don't know if  this is a bot because there are still many newbie users who promote it.

I'm not sure it'll be a wise option to tag all the bounty participants as majority of them might not even know that a thread like this exists. Also, most doesn't care much about the authenticity of the project as long as they do get paid, they are good.

From the look of things, The Draken team rep on the forum too, don't care. I wonder how they spin up a DEX (with around 10K+ ETH daily volume) but don't take out time to write about their whitepaper.  Has anyone sent them a PM regarding the flag?

From the look of things, The Draken team rep on the forum too, don't care. I wonder how they spin up a DEX (with around 10K+ ETH daily volume) but don't take out time to write about their whitepaper.  Has anyone sent them a PM regarding the flag?

I also still suspect that DEX Draken is still relatively new and has a good daily volume, are they manipulative to that volume ??

And only DRK tokens have the highest volume so I think they can play behind with the volume now.

This is if there is time and is valid then the project will be unique, not detected plagiarism but rather a project that copies from other content for the same concept.

Scammers can easily manipulate the price and order book to trick newbies in to thinking that the token is not scam and therefore ending up buying it.
Here is an example of how scammers manipulated the token price: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5252461.msg55097271#msg55097271 and then one day dumped the price in a matter of minutes: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/tweebaa/

It's true we can take an example like Tweebaa which at first can be trusted because the highs go up every second, but who would have thought everything changed the developer had planned all this so this was a manipulation planned from the start.

Therefore, with projects that have made mistakes, including plagiarism or fake volumes that don't make sense, then it patu long before being trapped in it.

They are probably bots and users who don't care about any warnings. They don't even care if they are paid by the scammers or not but if you are willing to help list all users who are promoting the project in this  thread. I Will tag them.
Because now that I have enough free time I can help

I contacted the Manager of the company about the suspicion of a Scam. He replied as follows (quote):

"Do or not is up to you.
But the DRK team already sent DRK & TRON coin to us, so we still running bounty program."

It doesn't matter if the DRK team sent to them the tokens or not, the fact is they are still promoting scam. Do you have a link to the so-called manager's profile?

Edit:
Seen it. Also people promoting the scam should be tagged. Why are they promoting scam even after seeing the warnings?
I am going to post a huge warning in the thread and give them a couple of days to stop promoting scam or else they get negative tags
